Title: Can any other crypto replace bitcoin?
Post by: Rumayanhi on July 10, 2018, 12:22:14 PM
There are many cryptocurrencies out there, the fluctuation is wide and big. There’s a need of a coin that uses a process to stabilize its value.

No doubt that there is no other cryptocurrency or altcoin that can supersede the bitcoin. At least not for the next 5-10 years. Of course there are many rising competitors like Ethereum, ripple and litecoin.

Do you agree???

Can they? They can but it would take time.
Which one? We don't have that answer yet. Whichever that may be, it should be something big.
Ethereum is still a competitor but they need to change a lot.
Mineable coins like Litecoin, BCH won't challenge bitcoin.

I think its very tough to reach their place because BTC is the one of the best crypto currency in the world also they are holding 1st positions in them market based on this if we look at the market conditions then I think ETH have this chances to compare.

I do not think bitcoin can be replaced, it is the first and unique coin with limited supply and most hype, bitcoin has already achieved worldwide massive recognition and demand, im sure the next price surge is round the corner, i think btc is here to stay and it will be keeping its position for very very long time to say the least.

This is the kind of question that will find answer only with time... If it was possible now to supplant Bitcoin, I think one of its forks already would have done it.
Now, long term investors can bet on others altcoins and wait, time will point to the winners.

(my bet is on ETH)

Even if this will happen at all its not now. I think it can happen maybe 5-10 years but it's not certain because btc itself have a solid background and it's the father of all.

I don't really agree because Ethereum and Ripple are not competitors to bitcoin. Ethereum goes for dapps and for "blockhain startups", and ripple is not really a coin, and is just a token used to maintain a network working and has no real value. LTC is just to bitcoin friendly in order to become his competitor, so right now bitcoin has no challengers in my opinion.

You excatly said what I think. Bitcoin is the still the king and no other coin is close to it but within 5-10 years coins like Eth, Ripple etc can give it a tough competition. Lets see what happens next.  :-\ :'(

I think if he do this then it will a foolish decision. Because bitcoin is the no1 coin in the market. No coin is not near with them. Their profit margin is also high than another coins. So connect with bitcoin it is the best decision for you.

This is the most frequently asked question nowadays and I give it a no. Nothing will ever replace bitcoin in the industry nor in my hearr. Bitcoin has shared a very meaningful and useful being. And definitely,I also imagined that bitcoin will be one of our main curriencies in our country or each countries we have.

Bitcoin is the mother coin and the first of all digital currencies to be generated and so i don't see the way how a mother can be replaced by its daughter or son. Look at it carefully and you will know what i am trying to say. Bitcoin is King and shall always be.

Many potential cryptos in the future could replace Bitcoin. Typical of them are Ethereum and Ripple. If Bitcoin does not have any improvement in transaction speed and transaction fees, then Bitcoin will certainly be overtaken by the cryptos because Ethereum's technology is now outperforming the BTC.

I agree with you. Currently Bitcoin is the king of the market, it is still very strong. In the next few years, no altcoin can beat Bitcoin. However, if Bitcoin does not fix weaknesses and does not grow, then I believe Bitcoin will be defeated by Ethereum. In comparison to Bitcoin, Ethereum is cheaper, it has faster speed, lower transaction costs. and Ethereum is also used by many ICO projects as platforms.

It can but no ETA. Remember crypto in the very strict competition right now and you must see that the total market cap of second largest coin in the world is 3x lower than the bitcoin. It will be so difficult to replace the bitcoin and it's possible to replave it on the technical value. I think you are understand that meaning of it.

Agreed, but I think if the product and the current price seems bitcoin still superior. However, if there is a product update then bitcoin can be rivaled by other crypto coins. Maybe if the ethereum soars high and the price is stable then the chance to rival the bitcoin will be achieved. All depends on product quality and of course from investors to choose or support the crypto world.

This long journey is an early stage for cryptocurrency or can be called recognition from all over the world and become famous in the wider community, it may happen but it takes a very long time, and I like to think, if altcoin is getting more and more auto age grow too? in terms of price and technology, and I think that Bitcoin is also doing the same thing to take advantage of time in the next few years, it is quite realistic no, whatever happens most importantly I can earn an income.

Bitcoin will never be replaced imho... not in 100 years not in 1000 years.
Bitcoin is the only truly decentralised cryptocurrency. Ripple is completely centralised. Ethereum is too much centralised (I'm not talking about mining)...
Litecoin is a copy of Bitcoin with a different algorithm...
I don't want to talk about EOS, Tron and other shitcoin because they sucks too much.

Not in a short time, Bitcoin is already hugely adopted around the world, even though there are already many more coins have more features than Bitcoin, but bitcoin is the first and most trusted among common people. It may be last until at least next ten or twenty years before other crypto replace it, but if in the next years bitcoin have a great development, it may never be replaced.

I think it is not possible. The trust for bitcoin is tremendously great that keeps it superior to any coins even if other coins have cheaper transaction fees. Like for example,, Ethereum. It is alrready given that it is more convenient to use than Bitcoins.

If you hate volatility of bitcoin and other usual cryptocurrencies than keep your money at USDT or TUSD both of them always try to have stable $1 value

But if you really want to invest/make profit with cryptocurrencies than you have to love the volatility because without fluctuation in price there will be nothing like investment.  ;D

Bitcoin is the king of the market, it is the strongest cryptocurrency. I guess that in the near future it will be difficult for any altcoin to overcome Bitcoin. I think altcoin has the ability to compete with Bitcoin as Ethereum. Ethereum ranks second in the market, it has many advantages over Bitcoin as lower transaction costs, faster transaction speeds. I believe in the future Ethereum will grow strongly and compete with Bitcoin.

I highly doubt it but the chances are still possible. What makes bitcoin the reigning cryptocurrency to date is its market value and usage among most investors and individuals. Since bitcoin is also used as the main currency for transactions under the blockchain technology (which provides unparalleled amount of security and anonymity) people take advantage of these factors for future transactions among peers.

In my opinion there is no currency that can replace bitcoin, because bitcoin has a huge demand around the world, bitcoin is also the most popler coin, so to compete or even replace bitcoin is really difficult and time consuming

Let us be open to all possibilities in the future as it is unknown and bitcoin may be replaced by another cryptocurrency depending on the scale of damage happened to it. If countries would start prohibiting the usage of bitcoin then this may slowly become obsolete. Expect another cryptocurrency to arise from such circumstance that will cater to our goals and need for the future.

As for me, bitcoin could still stand among any other coins because it is the first coin ever and it has the highest value so far. It could stand among other coins because it has passed all the test and challenges so of time. It has also the most number of achievements in the history of cryptocurrency.

if this industry continue in the many years, maybe there's one coin that can replace the bitcoin. but for now we know the fact that there's no one replace in the bitcoin. bitcoin is the mainstream now. all alternative coins, their price is only depend in the price of the market. so the color of the market is red becaude the bitcoin is dropped. and all alternative coins dropped too.

now you can not see serious rivals at the bitkin! but I'm sure that they will soon appear with a big capitalization! we need such competitors, only so the crypto market can at least somehow stabilize! at the appearance of such crypto coins, the market will not sharply fall or grow from the price of bitcoin! it's hard to say now who could roughly compete! because in a few years the top 20 have been constantly changing!

Leading cryptocurrency bitcoin is still dominant to the market and still remaining to the first spot through-out the years of its existence even ETH and other altcoins developed, in order to replace bitcoin they need to have the community, supporters and adopters like bitcoin but any of them did not surpass it up until now, some altcoins may possess innovating and revolutionary features but still bitcoin is the leading one.

Ripple is centralized so it absolutely cannot replace Bitcoin
Litecoin is a little brother of bitcoin and also cannot replace bitcoin
Ethereum was not born to the same purpose as bitcoin => will not replace bitcoin.

I think bitcoin is good enough except scaling problem. The DEV team is working on it to find solutions, Lightning network is an example.

I personally believe proof-of-work was a great method to reach consensus for the first blockchain ever, but I don't really believe this is going to be the standard for the years to come. I believe proof of stake or similar consensus methods are going to prevail.

Theoritically it is possible, but I don't think it will become possible because bitcoin got so much of trust when comparing other crypto currencies so its dominance level is always high so it will be always the king of the market. In case if some coin can convince the investors that it has more potential when compared to bitcoin then it maybe possible.

However, if Bitcoin does not fix weaknesses and does not grow, then I believe Bitcoin will be defeated by Ethereum. In comparison to Bitcoin, Ethereum is cheaper, it has faster speed, lower transaction costs. and Ethereum is also used by many ICO projects as platforms.
with the development that other coins have become so increased that it will be good for the future to be even better. other than that for other coins that exist in Cryptocurrency able to become a distinct advantage for now and able to replace Bitcoin in the future.

Well I think there may come a time when another cryptocurrency would replace bitcoin if ever that cryptocurrency can surpass the bitcoin supporters. Ethereum is one of the candidates for that because it has the second largest cryptocurrency market share but we don't know yet if there would be another cryptocurrency that is yet to be created.

Bitcoin may have the highest price but still we don't know if it would lose its value in the future because after all, many coins are doing innovations trying to get bitcoin's position. Bitcoin has the first mover advantage but still the question remains if it would be able to keep its position.

I agree on this bitcoin is unstoppable and no one can replace it on top so far, we are just in the beginning of acceptance in cryptocurrency around the world, and for sure bitcoin will lead us on that. Even ETH can't replace bitcoin for the next 10years :)
in my opinion that is impossible because what I know is that Bitcoin is the strongest altcoin and so now many people are investing in Bitcoin in the short term to make a profit because I know that many people say that the price of bitcoin will return soon and can be profitable again

For the time being I do not see any other coin replacing Bitcoin as the one of individual highest price, nothing else comes close at the moment, however in terms of the overall market cap I see that as being entirely possible seeing as there are a maximum of only 21,000,000 BTC and some other coins have unlimited supply.

The problem is that bitcoin at the moment is not a true decentralized asset and is supported by several large holders who can try to regulate the bitcoin course and popularity. If the strongmen of this world want to change the priority and choose another crypto currency as the main one, bitcoin will retire very quickly...

It is the only cryptocurrency that made my life better than before. Not only I make money in bitcoin easily and fast, but also I can practice my english skill. However, definitely in the next 5 years, none of them will have the power to replace the BTC, but sooner or later that will happen. I see this question much of the time and my answer is always the same - Nothing. And why should it?

The US Dollar, Euro have not been replaced by Bitcoin. In fact, there are hundreds of forms of fiat currency, and at least a thousand forms of crypto-currency currently circulating at this moment. Every ha its own esteem, every ha its own particular reason.

Bitcoin was created as a way for the people to take control of their money from the governments and banks so that individuals can finally, after 10,000 years of evolution, We The People can truly be in charge of our own money, our own destiny.

So, again, NOTHING will replace  BITCOIN is here to stay. Other coins will come, and some will go; others may even outperform the popularity and value of BITCOIN; but none will take its place.

It is very possible for other crypto to replace bitcoin but it may take longer period of time, say 20 to 30 years. Bitcoin being the the first of all coin was established long ago and it has gain popularity over this period of time. Other altcoin if want to overtake bitcoin should do more to make sure they are popular, reliable and acceptable all over the world.
