Hi everyone. Its been long time since providing merit system. Firstly i thought its good idea. To improve your rang you should write good quality posts to get merit. It means less shit posting here, less spam. But what we see now? Nobody gives you this, people started to sell merit. You can just buy it with horrible ptice, 1 merit - 10$. So you have only 2 ways: buy merit or buy account, and you can be banned abusing forum ruless. Or stay with your rang forever. Whad do you think now about this system a few month later after providing?

The merit system has some flaws which need to corrected,because the idea of buying merits to increase tour ranking negate the principle of quality posting as was aimed at by the founders of the forum. With the latest development if you have the money you can elevate yourself to any height in the forum without much stress.

Both of the paid options are not worth it and would eventually expose you.
One option could be forcing users to send merit in small numbers to prevent from decaying their own merit.
Merit should not be the ultimate measure for ranking members as it entirely depends on the perceptive and reasoning of the provider and almost 90% of user don't care on using it at all.

Yes, only if you have money. For example to get Full member you need to buy 90 merits, it means 900$ or buy account, 1000-1500$ and you can be banned for it. I dont think thats good. I saw only few times when people got merit. Mostly it were or high rangs send it to each other or bounty managers. Thats why i wanna understand what people with small rangs think about this

Don't get frustrated. Keep the quality of your post and be active. Getting merit may be difficult but isn't impossible.
As getting merit is rare, the merit requirements too should be decreased in order to facilitate a rank rise.
5 merit for member, 15 for full member, 30 for senior and so on would be a more practical measure.

The moderators always try to prevent this. I know many people have been banned, red trust just because of buying merits. So I don't think these ways are safe.

There are just insufficient merit source. In my country, there are only less than 5 merit sources. The community of my Nation is surprisingly big in this forum. How can those <5 merit sources accomodate us all? The merit system is not so perfect as it seems. Shit posting still exists. It was not fixed nor eradicated. People just get tired exerting efforts that aren't given back enough credit. No matter how many posts you comment that have sense, 99.9% of the time, it will just be ignored.

I think, that if you want to sell a merit this fact will be detected by arbitrage of bitcoin talk forum. Because merit is the main indicator of the quality of your post. That's why you must try to make post interesting and useful. Another way is going not under the law...)

Wow yea anything can be bought huh.  Maybe a system like reddit karma would work out better.  

Only if founders of the forum could have known this, before implementing the merit system, that merit system could also be traded for some good money. Though currently ranking up is more difficult, but if you got money you can get your self ranked up quite easily just by buying merits.

I think the merit system is really flawed, because there has been several shit post on the forum
So i think there needs to be a review, maybe the merits per rank should be reduced and considerate to encourage forum users.

The collection of merit is indeed difficult and hard to get, but i think it is not impossible, so lets keep quality posts and educative comments.
Merits will come sooner sooner and more benefits from the forum too.

Very controversial issue.
Buying a ready and rolled out account is always risky.
Buy merit is also controversial, because people can buy merit, write posts and then these most pumped-up accounts and continue, which certainly can raise the price of already pumped-up accounts.
Probably the idea of rewarding merit for information and useful posts in itself is very correct. It's a pity that the people are very greedy and nobody shares this merit.

How do you think how many time do you need to get 100 merits to be a Full member? I bet that even in 2 years you will not be Full. Of course if the rules are not gonna be changed. But lets hope for the best

The system is not working, i haven't seen a way merit system has improved quality of post by member of forum what is the importance of merit system when people can buy it with money.

There are advantages and disadvantages that the merit system gives to the community,

first in advantages is that it will train every users here in the community to post good and great article related to crypto currencies and this will help a lot of newbies in gaining knowledge.

More constructive post as what you said the lesser the shitpost.

the great thing is that you will be rewarded on what you contributed on the community.

and then here comes the problem due to merit system there are lot of people not getting a high rank,
the reason is that the giver of merit not seeing them why?
1. The author is not that popular (Jr.mem or lower ranks)
2. The authors post is not inclined with the community wants because most of the community users
    always talks about "if you have 1 btc what will you do?" this is kind a redundant and shit post.
3. The author doesn't give enough information.
4. the Post reach is quite too low.
5. The giver of merit are getting corrupt because they own multiple accounts so instead of sharing the merit to another user they just sent it to their other account.


All in all the merit system has it's own advantages and disadvantages. but this is a head start for great community i hope that the administrators will improve this system for better and greater community of bitcoin and crypto people.

This post it should be in Meta. If that’s your way to rank up, is not it questionable? The DT will also see your post if you are deserving of merit. Buying a merit is violating the forum rules so it should be avoided. So the merit system has been implemented to make a quality post. Not to buy or sell merits.

Thats not my way to rank up, i even didnt think about this posting this message. As you can see, i wrote that firstly i thought merit system is good. But some time later i see that people are not getting merited but there are a lot of groups where they sale it with price 1 merit - 10$. Of course thats violating the forum rules, thats why i write here to know what people thing about this system now. It was conceived for enother reason but greedy people turned upside down

you are forgetting another choice you will be getting banned or getting redtrust due to the abusing the marit system lol and that's even worst than stay in your rank forever. Just do what you can do and never try to hope a lot for your post to get merit anytime. This system is really fair.

These two options are not a very good solution as opposed to the current rules, nothing is rigid, run with your ability to keep your posts consistent and good for every day, the more advanced it will grow for you personally, most people more like to keep their ration awards until they rot, very indifferent to someone who is good at discussing, I often see many people I think deserve a reward but they do not care about it, so life alone does not make you complain about the present circumstances.

I havent forgot this. And wrote above that buying merit or account you can be banned cause its contrary to the forum rules. Im writing about that people dont give merit for good posts or do it too rarely, they started sell it with price 1 merit = 10 $. How do you think is this normal? Is this for what merit was created? And if you were junior member, not Hero (of course), whould you think the same, that this system is fair? I see that only Hero and Legends like it

Second off, you just complain and don't offer and insights or solutions.

Take a moment to scan the forums and see who is getting merit and where they are getting it.
You will notice something fast.

The biggest thing is, there is hardly any merit being thrown around in the altcoin discussion forum!

And is that surprising? How many quality posts are there here?
How many people would be writing something that deserves merit, thus giving them a chance to distribute smerit to others?

Altcoin discussion forum is filled with two types of people: Bounty hunters making mindless posts and noobs asking the same asanine questions over and over.

That's even a bad habit don't be like them. We should follow rule in the first place . Don't get ban or red trust. all you have to do is focus on reading rules in forum site and by the way you need to post constructive post and be good to everyone.

I think that the system should be refined. In it, obviously, the moments associated with the manipulation of the number of merit are not forgiven. If you are a loner and you do not have a dozen accounts that increase your reputation, then you are likely to stay on the same level forever, and this seems to me very unfair and requires modification.

As for me i think the merit system is a good way to get rank in the forum but the only mistake there is that it shouldn't be awarded by each other i think bitcointalk forum team should be the ones awarding merit this would make people want to write more and buy less.

I think both options are not worth it. We can get merit if our posts are in good quality, it is hard to get merit but it's not impossible to get it. The flaws of merit system should be corrected. It's a quite big amount for me to buy merit then suddenly you will get banned because of this.

Yes you are right there are some flaws in the merit system, for the admin side they should think first of their system before implementing it and to the users side since this was implemented atleast don't be corrupted if you have merits to give because I think it is being selfish.

I think we should not do any actions that violates the rules of the organization
because it is really unethical to do. I think we should always follow the rules because it is for our safety also.

It is kind of very difficult to gain merits these days, I have been on this forum for several months now and have not been able t upgrade (I know i do  not have the best of posts, but at least I am not spamming).It is sad to see merits being sold.It is highly unprofessional

Post quality becomes the main indicator to get merit in this forum. Thus, buying and selling merit becomes a difficult thing to do and very risky to your account. Keep striving to make quality posts and deserve to get merit.

I am against illegal actions, no matter what they are. If it is forbidden to sell merit, they should be punished for this.

Merit selling & Account selling is really abusing this forum rules. But no one will be able to survive these tasks for a long time.Merit system is amazing initiative for forum. Because a lot member posting low quality for growing forum rank. Even i see many people randomly posting in local board. Now their rank does not increase due to merit system that's why they trying to buy Smerit or account.     

indeed the merit system makes a dilemma, after the merit we hard to increase the rank and must make a quality post, but sometimes there is a quality post but do not get any merit at all, while there are not qualified but get a lot of merit. maybe the merit system must be fixed first

Buying merit is not good, it will expose you, when merit will be transferred to your account, you could be banned from Bitcointalk Forum. Merit system was created to help members to read or create constructive & educative posts. Post good post from your side, it is hard to get merit but not impossible. We should follow the rules of the Forum.

The idea of merits was very good, but as a result it became just a token of the forum. Nevertheless, the number of grades improved significantly. I think this was the ultimate goal.

To be fair, with or without the merit system, some are still selling their bitcointalk accounts.
On selling merits, it is unfortunate that some people would do this as I am sure this is not purpose why the system was put in place. I do not think forum admins can prevent this. I guess we'll just have to see what measures they will implement to somehow minimize this.

Merit has its pros and cons.
Pros: clears the forum of bots and non-quality content
Cons: Merit is not always given for quality information and not all of it is used for its intended purpose.

I knew it would get to this even the high ranked on btt hardly gives merits to high quality post only sharing it among each other.I think the purpose for introducing the merit into the system has already been defeated.

We can’t please everybody to do the right thing like that but make it as a lesson that we should not follow what they have done because this is not a good thing to do as investors in this business.

The Merit sale case, I think this is scam.
Extremely difficult for you to get 1 Merit, so I do not think they will sell it at a price of 10$/1Merit.

I am really surprised that merit points are selling a @10, I was really not aware about it. I think merit points should not be bought like this, if it is true, as there is no use of then merit points to post quality post to the bitcointalk thread, but I also suggest the rules for merit points should be made flexible as in these days no body gives merit points at all.

I think there is a strong need for deactivating or atleast ameding this merit system, i do not think it has provided any positive effect on forum, moreover it has generated anger and discouragement in members and also have given a chance for new forums and platforms to come up, so i hope management will seriously look into this system and make the required action soon.
