Title: Increase hash rate on rx580?
Post by: volish on July 10, 2018, 01:48:07 PM
Hey,

Iv just built my first rig using 6 x Gigabyte Rx580 4GB GPU and I am just mining Ethereum on Claymore with Windows 10. When I first set it up I was only getting around 13 mh/s per card and then I installed the blockchain drivers and it went up to around 15. In my bat file I also added -dcri 30 and found that this increased it to around 22 m/s. I finally bios modded each card and I am now sitting at around 25 mh/s for each card.

What else can be done to increase the hash rate? From what I have seen online people seem to be getting around 30 mh/s.

Can you set to compute mode with the blockchain drivers? Does this have much effect. When I press y in claymore I get the error message: "Error: cannot set Compute Mode flag, run miner as Administrator and try again
CrossFire is already disabled". When I right click on the bat file and click run as administrator the command window just flashes open and then closes. Do you know why this is?

Is overclocking the only thing left to try?

My bat file contains the following:

setx GPU_FORCE_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 - ewal [eth address].RigName -epsw x -dcri 30 -allcoins 1 -allpools 1 -mode 1 -ftime 10 -r 1

Anything that can be changed or added here?

Many thanks, really appreciate your help :)

This is an alt coin question I asked mods to move it.

Claymore has a thread on his software in alt coins.

Yep, this will be required

If you haven't done it thru modding

you may do Overclocking in Msi After Burner or Overdriven tool, or in your claymore .bat

Yeah I managed to get it through overclocking. I can get 30 but the temperatures are slightly about 70. Is this temperature ok to just leave?

Thanks again

Try manually increase fan speed, you should get lower temperatures.
You can add -tt -70 in claymore to set fan speed to 70%, although it may show that fans are actually spinning at 80%.

Gigabyte cards in my experience run hot. But yes you should manually set the fan speeds higher to keep the temps down.

What temperature do you aim for during normal operation? I have set a temp limit of 70 with the fans set to automatic in afterburner. Does that seem sensible?

I’m not sure what is best. Me personally I set minimum fan speed to 50% and temp limit of 60.

I am getting 69 degrees at 80% fan speed. What cards do you have?

I’ve got a mix but have one Gigabyte RX 580 8GB, it stays around 58 degrees, fan doesn’t usually go much past 50%.

My reference card RX480 are 80 deg

Fan speed over 80%

they ran fine over 2 years

but for the nitros, they run far cooler about 60 deg
