Title: Could A Severe "Attack" On Bitcoin Possibly Be A Good Thing??? Post by: gigabytecoin on March 19, 2011, 10:01:41 AM "The people" generally do not like governments and/or other powerful entities interfering in free markets.
If anybody did attempt to gain more than 50% computing/node power of the network in order to sabotage it... (meaning it was a significant game changing idea). A headline like that could make the new york times. Title: Re: Could A Severe "Attack" On Bitcoin Possibly Be A Good Thing??? Post by: ryepdx on March 19, 2011, 11:01:28 AM Of course, if some organized trolling group decided to do it for shits and giggles in our infancy, we'd kinda' be out of luck.
Title: Re: Could A Severe "Attack" On Bitcoin Possibly Be A Good Thing??? Post by: gigabytecoin on March 19, 2011, 11:13:57 AM there is no such thing as bad publicity Exactly what I was thinking. It could be a great "call to action" for everybody to join forces with bitcoin and run their generator client 24/7. Title: Re: Could A Severe "Attack" On Bitcoin Possibly Be A Good Thing??? I'd rather have secure bitcoins than a headline. Title: Re: Could A Severe "Attack" On Bitcoin Possibly Be A Good Thing??? I'm worried people (possibly myself) would think "if it happened once it can happen again, or worse" which is somewhat true. Calling something safe / uncrackable / unsinkable / whatever is always asking for trouble. With that being said I'd prefer btc to something that is just straight out manipulated like the USD :D |
