Title: How to Add / Edit Bitcointalk Signature?
Post by: BitcoinTurk on July 11, 2018, 05:12:21 PM
UPDATE: Newbie members can no longer add a signature because of the new decision taken within the Forum. The required explanation has been added to the bottom of the header.

Hello friends,

I'm with another helpful topic. In this article I will briefly and plainly explain how you can change your signature or edit your signature. I feel like I hear people who do not know it yet try to do it for nothing, but I still want to give information for new friends. At least I think it would be useful for those who use the search button in the forum without hesitation and want to get information. Anyway, let's make a statement without going too far. :)

Step 1: Click on the '' Profile '' tab.

Step 2: On the left side we enter the '' Forum Profile Information '' section via the menu that appears.

Step 3: We move the page down a bit and find the '' Signature '' box. Inside this box we add the signature code you want to attach your signature to.

Step 4: We are at the bottom of the page and click on the '' Change Profile '' button.

When these steps are completed, your signature will change immediately. Signature exchange is that simple and easy!  ::)

NOTE: The whole process is quite easy and I did not add picture description because it is done with one click.

Have a nice day!

@xxx, @ xxx:

Both of you have a Newbie rank, and since the 17/09/2018, are not allowed to have a signature nor personal text until you rank-up to Jr. Member rank (requires >= 30 Activity and >= 1 Merit). Read the following post to see the complete implications and reasons behind this measure taken by the forum to lower the degree of spam:  Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.msg45810047#msg45810047).

As the above referenced posts states, you can bypass most of these requirements by acquiring a copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote). Nevertheless, if you set your minds to it, earning 1 merit is not really that tough, although it will require some time and effort into the posts one makes.

Nice it would help newcomers know how to put it now, and maybe you can add how to add the "Personal Messages/Text" or maybe avatar(i'm not sure)

I also think about creating a new topic about these transactions. I will produce content in both Turkish (my main language) and English as soon as possible. Stay tuned;)

Step 3: We move the page down a bit and find the '' Signature '' box. Inside this box we add the signature code you want to attach your signature to.

Problem is here, most new users won't know how to properly code theirs signatures. I mean what tags you can use in signature which is
[.b] [.i] [.color] etc

In this article, I shared information about how to add the ready-made signature codes. I did not need to touch this point because there was no issue about signature design. In addition, many users want to generate revenue by adding signatures to the signature field instead of creating a signature design, so this content is prepared.

Thank you for this. I'm sure Newbies will really appreciate. Thanks

Your welcome, I hope it has been a useful title for all new members. Many members have difficulty finding information about such small details when they become new members.

This is helpful to newbies on how to add/edit already made signatures. About the personal text, it's also the same as adding/editing signatures.
First, Click on the Profile Tab.
Second, same as adding signature on the left side where you can see Forun Profile Information.
Third, You can put whatever text you want in the personal box located above the Birthdate Box.
Fourth, Press the change profile and you're done.

Take note: "Personal Text" area does not allow the use of BBCode, as the "Signature" area does. The actual
number of digits in the "Personal Text" area is also much, much smaller, limiting what you can add to it. Goodluck!!!

Each step is described in detail to detail. Could you tell me what you need to write this message, please? If the message is enough, the content is not important, do you think in your mind or write this comment, maybe someone wrote you with a thought that gives you a merit? It will be a little respectable to people so those people can give you a response. I hope you understand where it is wrong and do not write unnecessary comments on other matters.

You can create your personal signature, click your profile and pick the furom's setting,...
For newbie we can only use words,. But when you reach Jr. Member you'll have additional features like colors and other formats and so on when you reached higher ranks....

Just like in every forum software, there are certain features in the SMF software that this forum uses. The signature part, which we use the most from these features, varies depending on the ranks system as well as in each forum site. Newly opened members can only write text, while a Legendary member can add a picture or banner to his signature. With each progression of ranks, we have signature areas that are increasingly useful and have a larger character volume.

It is very needed guide for beginners because most of them come for bounty campaigns but it might be difficult for some to add signature and also avatar.

I try to produce content that will be useful for new members. Many members do research at first because they do not know such fine details and they can not reach a healthy result. I think I have been progressing with very high quality content in this way that I started with the aim of getting more information from the new members. If there is a benefit to the old members, if they need new members, I believe that they are very happy.

Nice tutorial for newbies.
Almost most signature campaigns are pre-designed ,and that's what we need in bounty campaign.
I checked someone about asking for bold design.
𝓒𝓱𝓮𝓬𝓴 𝓸𝓾𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓿𝓮𝓻𝓽𝓮𝓻: Converter Link (http://qaz.wtf/u/convert.cgi?text=Check+out+this+converter%3A)
It included bold, italic and lot more unicode text converter. This one is the easiest way if someone don't wants to work with [-b-] or [-i-] tags.

*Changed the tags as it's detecting bold and italic itself x.

Actually previously i checked someone asked how to create Signature in bold and italic. So peoples who are not familiar with tags can use the converter: Converter Link (http://qaz.wtf/u/convert.cgi?text=Check+out+this+converter%3A) and it will auto generate different kinds of layers.
Sorry, updated the link as the previous one was a bit confusing.

When these steps are completed, your signature will change immediately. Signature exchange is that simple and easy!  ::)

Have a nice day!

I have a question. How many signatures are possible to install?

Many members have difficulty finding information about such small details when they become new members.

First, Click on the Profile Tab.
Second, same as adding signature on the left side where you can see Forun Profile Information.
Third, You can put whatever text you want in the personal box located above the Birthdate Box.

Why are you writing something just to be a message? Already in the subject matter all these steps are clearly stated clearly. But what did you do? Think about what you need to read the subject matter and write this ridiculous message. There is not so much disgust, so shame! Just because you are a commentary, your rank is elevated, you do not have the right to punctuate the subject headings of anybody. How obvious it is that you came here just for the money.

thank you very much, as a beginner i am very helpful with your explanation.
maybe a little advice you can add the signature difference between newbie to hero member because the level membership will also affect the allowed signature restrictions.

I do not want to tell you that depending on the membership, the signature patterns may also change because the subject content is not about signature campaigns and signature types. I hope it has been a useful content for all new friends.

The member changes depending on rank. It is possible to create many different signatures in different member groups. Especially if you look at the signature fields of the users in the forum, you will see that everybody uses a different signature and every member's rank has signatures created with different designs. As the membership increases, the number of characters that can be added to the signature field can be increased. Accordingly, low members only use text-based signatures while other members can use visual aids or color signatures.

First of all I would appreciate your comment. To answer the other problem, unfortunately I have to regret to say that at least Full Member level needs to be reached in order to use avatar. As we can see in many signature campaigns, there are usually extra bonus payments for avatar use as well. Of course, this bonus payment also attracts users, but as I mentioned in the previous bulletin, it is necessary to spend a certain amount of effort and reach Full Member ranks to use this advantage. Do not be seen as an obstacle for this, over time, all these obstacles will be inflicted and you will be a member that can use avatar.

At one time I had a signature box.  But since July it seems to have just disappeared and the signature I had is now gone.  What has changed to make it do this.  It would be rather useful to post why the signature box is NOT on the page described here in this thread since it will not exist for ALL users.

Now you can't find this signature box because new rules have published few days ago

Rules is very simple if you have one merit point your rank is Jr member but you have 200+ activity and 0 merit point you rank is newbie

So at first you get 1 merit point then you see signature box

All of which should be in this post.  Explain why the box is missing,  what is a merit point,  what the ranks mean and how they are attained,  how do you get merit points, etc etc.  Post should be updated.  Being able to change a signature IS NOT easy even though this post makes it sound like it is,  when in fact, it is NOT.  Of course it also should be stated that if things like this have to be covered in a post,  then it's a sign that the forum owner isnt doing their job as a developer.  None of this should be hidden and should actually be shown to the user in the UI so that their UX is enjoyable.  For example, what retard removes a Text box with no explanation as to WHY its missing.  The developer needs to place a msg there that says "To unlock the XYZ,  you have to do ABC,  and here is how to do ABC".  Whoever is developing the thing,  clearly has no idea what UI/UX is.  This isnt something that should have to be "suggested" in order for them to change it.  This is just a common sense thing that shouldnt even need to be stated/suggested in the first place as are most UI/UX issues.

IMO the merit system is flawed.  All it does is promote people to agree with those that have merit.  No one with merit is going to give another person that disagrees with them any merit points,  humans just do not work that way and anyone who thinks it does is living in a fucking fantasy world.  Thus,  those ideas are never rewarded which means only those that agree with the forum owner or those that started with unlimited merit will ever actually get any merit.  Just because a post is a disagreement is not reason enough to not earn merit points.  This post for example,  would never get merit because it disagrees with every core value of the owner of the site and it shames them for doing things that make no sense at all (such as a terrible UI/UX).  Which are all very valid things that people need to see in order to improve themselves.  These types of posts do not get merit points.  Ever.  This is why the merit system is just a fanboy club imo and completely useless.

@MenuaArciv, @ bitcreatenow:

This is useful to the newbie OP but since the newbie  update is already implemented then it will not be applicable to newbie except for the copper member. So, this post now will be helpful to the jr. member rank upwards. As we all know that because of cryptocurrency hype there were many accounts created lately and for sure OP this will come to handy one day.

Either you reach an Activity count of at least 30 and earn at least 1 Merit as @TryNinja indicated, or you acquire a Copper Membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote) (see also  Newbies can now pay a small fee to enable images (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104.msg24371150#msg24371150) – it explains the signature feature).

Nevertheless, getting to add a signature through a Copper Membership does not guarantee that you will be able to get into a given campaign (I assume that is your intention). Campaign Managers may or may not accept Newbie Copper Members as per their own discretion.

Before I just do not know how to add and edit signature to my profile but now, I constantly change it over time when projects or ICO ends.

But, I am.now comfortable with my new signature. It is better to earn BTC than accepting reward tokens. This is why I more like to join BTC signature campaign.

Other than that, learning is still the priority. Earning is just only a bonus here. I have been visiting other sections already and I find some sections good and others were not in my interest especially in mining section.

I think that Copper Memberships are not normally purchased by the Person who want to enter in a signature campaigns. It does not give you any edge.

Basically, it is for those accounts/Person who want to advertise their service on this forum and since they have a newbie status, They buy copper membership to post the images.

That is probably the original intent, but there are campaigns that allow signatures from Newbie Copper Members and therefore the Copper Membership is also used for this purpose. It took me 2 minutes to spot 5 cases (going over the Bounty threads): daniel002 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1337473), Oppo57 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2457475),charlop24 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1893700),Acrossline (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1953443),ttcsalam (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2569651). I'm sure they are not a lucky strike of my random search on the Bounty section.

@xxx, @ xxx:

So I can't change or delete my signature now since I created it in 2017??

I guess you can, but not now.

I mean you will be able to change your current signature after you upgrade your forum rank.

No you can't.

It doesn't matter when you created your account.
You must post at least 30 activity and 1 merit to rank up Jr. Member and then you can add signature to your profile.

For profile details (On how to know about profile): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5151709.msg51378153#msg51378153 check this thread.

Either get the merit+activity to rank up as explained above, or buy the Copper Member upgrade (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote). It may not be worth it if you're just trying to use for your BTC address though.

Weird... It must be because you are a Newbie, don't you think?

You know, just like it says in the HUGE red warning (that you just quote) how Newbies can't have a signature. But I'm not sure... ;)

Hello BitcoinTurk! Thanks a lot for the post! I have been looking for a way to add a signature for 2 days. Your post helped me a lot.

It's not a secret that most of the accounts here want to advertise their projects or earn money in some way. I need a signature to place a link to my favorite cryptocurrency exchange and help to make it more popular. I just don't want to spam the link in my posts, but right now I have to. How can I guide a person to the exchange without a link? But I know that it's not the best practice. Could you help me with Merit? I will buy a Copper membership and will finally add the signature.

It's quite unfortunate that newbies can put on signature unless they pay for copper membership to be able to wear signature. You should have enlighten them on what they should do (getting merit) first before thinking of wearing signature

You can guide them without putting the link in your signature just give the link through PM or make a post including your link.

Could you help me with Merit?
No, don't beg for merits they mostly give you negative trust if you do that. If you want to earn merit make a helpful and quality post if you contribute here on the forum they mostly rewarded it with merit.

I will buy a Copper membership and will finally add the signature.
Much better.

You mean Merit, not ‘metric’. No, you do not (should not) buy it, but rather earn it. Earning a few is quite simple, but you will have to upgrade your posting stile a fair share to be able to receive any.

There are plenty of threads around on the topic, so instead of pointing to any specific one, I’d suggest you search around for them (all right, I’ll give you your first pointer:  Merit & new rank requirements (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0)). All in all, it´s just a question of being able to post with decent enough content, and your post being deemed as interesting enough for someone with some sMerits to award your post.

I figure you want to be able to click on a link in the signature, and have that take you to a given site. In order to do that, your signature should be that of a Member or above. Alternatively, a copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote) should equate the signature to that of a Member.

The following table summarises some of the differences between ranks in terms of signatures. Bear in mind that the Newbie row entry no longer applies.

Many members have difficulty finding information about such small details when they become new members.

First, Click on the Profile Tab.
Second, same as adding signature on the left side where you can see Forun Profile Information.
Third, You can put whatever text you want in the personal box located above the Birthdate Box.
Fourth, Press the change profile and you're done.
Thank you for the update

This is great, you should remove all signature because the spam is too much.

Those signatures that you are seeing are mostly because of signature campaigns. They are not spam if the users that you are seeing wearing it are different. I don't see signatures as spam. All of the signature campaigns are crypto related, it's normal for a forum to have such. There's a thing a about signature spamming, correct me guys if I'm wrong, but I do think you can report a user to the campaign manager if he is spamming his signature. I don't know if it is necessary since the campaign manager can just disregard those posts and not count them, or warn the user or remove him from the campaign.
