I would use Binance (https://www.binance.com/). You can trade and withdrawal 2BTC worth of Ripple per day without needing to do any ID verification, which should be enough for you.

Hi. You can use one of the wallets on the exchanges:

https://www.binance.com
https://www.bitfinex.com
https://cex.io/
https://changelly.com
https://gate.io

Don't forget about 20 XRP!

The XRP Ledger applies reserve requirements, in XRP, to protect the shared global ledger from growing excessively large as the result of spam or malicious usage. The goal is to constrain the growth of the ledger to match improvements in technology so that a current commodity-level machine can always fit the current ledger in RAM and the full ledger history on disk.

To submit transactions, an address must hold a minimum amount of XRP in the shared global ledger. You cannot send this XRP to other addresses. To fund a new address, you must send enough XRP to meet the reserve requirement.

The current minimum reserve requirement is 20 XRP. (This is the cost of an address that owns no other objects in the ledger.)

It's not recommend to use exchanges as a wallets. You should keep coins/tokens in a wallet where you have full control of your funds. You shouldn' keep big amounts of money on exchanges because there are many stories about hacked exchanges, locked funds of users and etc.

Not only for this reason but because receiving XRP in an exchange wallet is way more difficult and may result in lost funds. Since you need 20 XRP to activate a wallet, the exchanges aren't going to lock 20 XRP for every new user - this is simple not feasible. So they only use a small group of addresses and require you to send your XRP with a tag (which indicates that the funds are being deposit in your account). If you don't, bye bye XRP.

Here is an example (depositing on Bitfinex): Ripple (XRP) Deposits & Withdrawals (https://support.bitfinex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003347105-Ripple-XRP-Deposits-Withdrawals)

I use these services without any issues. Why people call Freewallet scam? You withdraw your funds from MinerGate to Freewallet for free, then you withdraw your coins to any wallet you wish. Yes, it takes additional step to withdraw but it's rather a way to promote the partner's platform than scam. I think it'a a big difference.
