Title: Any interest in a Fairbrix pool?
Post by: simplecoin on October 04, 2011, 06:17:39 PM
I've been asked about implementing an FBX pool, just curious how much interest there is.

I'm interested.
Having a pool is a nice step along the road to having an exchange.
Plus it makes it easier for people to mine on, and that in turn helps the network hash rate.

Nope, no interest at all. Waiting for SC2 as tenecrapix is taking to long to solo now etc.

So, what you're saying is that a pool would be a good idea since solo takes too long?

Of course, much interest in a pool.
That's much more handy to mine from the cloud or from boxes where installing the client would pose security concerns.
Fairbrix is catching up steadily on Tenebrix, so it won't be long before solo mining becomes unpractical.

I am very interesting in Fairbrix pool as replacement for Tenebrix pool because Tenebrix has too big bounty that disturb me.

Yes but where can I cash out my FBX !?!? NOWHERE as it is useless.

At least you can already mine it, not like SC2.

A pool should come before an exchange.  Running a FBX pool does not expose the operator to any risk and should be trivial for anyone already running a TBX pool.  Running an exchange for a chain with a weak hashrate can be a liability, so a pool to boost the hashrate would be a good first step.

Okay guys, now I am confused (probably that's my isolation from IRC speaking)

I thought Fairbrix code is getting a major overhaul with introduction of "Exchange lockin" code and a rebrand, no ?

Not sure what you mean by a rebrand. The relaunch of Fairbrix had a hiccup due to the ~1400 blocks getting rewritten in a chain reorg. Other than that, people are mining happily away. I expect to see a pool soon and eventually, we'll get an exchange.

Eh. nvm me then - probably misunderstood a PM exchange (thought the Fairbrix w/auto-lockin code was gonna have a new name for some reason...)

There was generic discussion about approaches for exchanges to deal with low hash rates. I don't know if this means anyone is actually working on it beyond experimenting with ideas.

Well, coblee said in adjacent thread that he's interested in doing it with Fairbrix, which I think is good in terms of "innovation is good", but I would be reluctant to bet any money onto how much this will be accepted and whether it would operate as intended.

I thought Fairbrix is getting superseded by Litecoin... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47417.0

I already said that Litecoin is not superseding Fairbrix. Simplecoin, if you would start a Fairbrix pool, that would be great.

Sorry, my post here predates your response, so well, apparently I got the wrong impression - FBX and LC will as a matter of fact live independent lives.

I would like a Fairbrix pool too, the solo mining seems to go haywire after sometime.

OMG now on the cpu front we have so many scam coins

8 Japanese scammers shit ( all using scrypt algorithm ) : Tenebrix, Fairbrix, Litecoin

RealSolid using unknown algorithm in Solidcoin 2

Please merge mine these scrypt cpu only coins or they are fking useless.

1) did anyone ever setup a fairbrix pool?

2) Has anyone figured out if merged mining is possible?
