Title: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: boots on February 16, 2014, 01:56:55 PM Help I installed a XFX R9 270X in my HP h81010 pc and can not get it to hash right.
Tried guiminer alpha and cgminer 3.72 and 3.66 Tried Catalyst 13.1 and 13.12 Tried AMD APP SDK v2.8 and 2.9 Tried as a replacement card and bought a powered riser to run it as a second card in this config my stock HD6450 get 16kh/s and 270X gets 19kh/s Checked HP for update bios same re-installed CGMiner showing no hardware errors or regects Tried all kinds of bat files some samples: setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://global.wemineltc.com:3335 -u xxxx -p xx --gpu-platform 1 --remove-disabled --gpu-fan 100 --scrypt --thread-concurrency 15508 -w 256 -I 20 -g 1 --temp-target 80 --temp-cutoff 90 --gpu-powertune 20 --gpu-engine 1120 --gpu-memclock 1500 and setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://global.wemineltc.com:3335 -u xxxx -p xx Thank you in advance for any help Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: Wipeout2097 on February 16, 2014, 03:20:23 PM Remove the HD6450 card and replace on that commandline
--thread-concurrency 15232 -I 18 --gpu-engine 1100 Which OS and version are you using? Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: atp1916 on February 16, 2014, 03:46:36 PM I will tell you right now: that HD6450 is a worthless card as a miner and is mucking everything up. You need the newest drivers for that 270x, and they do not like that 6450 at all. I had a 5450 (which is basically a 6450) a while back and had a hell of a time getting it to work with some 7950s, and that was even with older drivers.
I would take out the 6450, uninstall your AMD drivers from the CP to clear out the platform, and reinstall the 13.12 Catalyst + 2.9 SDK. Your first bat file sample looks good, except -i20 will give too many rejects - try -i 19. A question though: You are using --gpu-platform 1. Are your Radeon cards behind an intel integrated GPU or an NVidia card? Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: boots on February 16, 2014, 03:56:26 PM using windows 7 64 bit
the only cards i'm using are the ones listed from amd the first time installing i removed the 6450 and went with the 270x, after that was not working i tried the two together. Thank you for your input Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: atp1916 on February 16, 2014, 04:05:49 PM using windows 7 64 bit the only cards i'm using are the ones listed from amd the first time installing i removed the 6450 and went with the 270x, after that was not working i tried the two together. Thank you for your input Ensure you have fully wiped out your current driver platform using the AMD CP uninstall program. Lots of problems occur when a new installation conflicts with artifacts from the old driver platform. Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: Wipeout2097 on February 16, 2014, 04:12:48 PM Can you still switch that card for a Gigabyte R9-270 OC? XFX are problematic for scrypt mining.
What do you get on Gpu-z "Sensors" tab? Is the card too hot and throttling? Go to the PC bios and disable everything you don't need for mining. Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: boots on February 16, 2014, 04:30:36 PM Thanks everyone for you input,
I'm going to run AMD CP uninstall program and remove the 6450 going to try the bat file tweeks has anyone herd of a mobo that just could not run a video card that's what i'm wandering btw it has a corsair cx600 psu so i don't think power is the problem Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: Wipeout2097 on February 16, 2014, 04:39:13 PM has anyone herd of a mobo that just could not run a video card that's what i'm wandering Yes, some have claimed that mobos have influence. I'm yet to see solid evidence, but otoh I see it as a possible. Disable Windows Desktop acceleration and effects, themes, etc... You could also boot CraPE (Win8.1PE) or SMOS(Linux) from a usb pendrive. Wait until your desktop shows up on the TV. Unplug the HDMI cable from your R9 270x. (DO NOT RESTART COMPUTER!) Start mining. I'll bet this fixes your problem. Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: boots on February 17, 2014, 12:42:21 PM looked for CraPE (Win8.1PE) in google, went to what i thought was developers page and ended up with malware
Don't think i'll try that again tried using two montors but will get a hdmi cable and try thanks Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: Wipeout2097 on February 17, 2014, 02:40:09 PM looked for CraPE (Win8.1PE) in google, went to what i thought was developers page and ended up with malware It's in this same forum! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=247537.0Don't think i'll try that again tried using two montors but will get a hdmi cable and try thanks Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: cad_cdn on February 17, 2014, 02:43:49 PM try bamt linux or 'smos linux' (ltcrabbit also) to rule out driver\software issues.
Then if the cards get proper hash rates, look to hardware - adequate power supply, with all PCI power leads intact? - powered riser cable? maybe its bad? (speaking from experience) good luck Title: Re: help R9 270X at 19kh/s Post by: boots on February 18, 2014, 09:59:44 AM Tried ltcrabbit usb boot, after 4 hours their website says I'm hashing in the 400 range. So at least I now know it has to be a setting or tweek that's off.
I'm going to keep change things a little at a time till I get it . Thanks again |
