Title: Look at what BTC-E JUST SAID to me...
Post by: suskabellaa on February 16, 2014, 06:37:47 PM
So, I deposited some funds into my BTC-e account with my credit card through Payeer + Liqpay. Usually, it shows up in my account immediately but this time there was no show of funds. I went through the tedious process of getting BTC-E support attention, took me hours, finally they come online (this was Skype). When they did, I explained my situation, gave them my Payeer payment ID and even translated it in Russian. I just wanted my money back.. this is was ensued. (Sorry, I had to retract some details just in case)

Can you believe this? What's more is that I added this account by searching their support EMAIL on Skype so I know this is not a fake account. I have just lost nearly 300 AUD because of these dickheads and my only choice now is to chargeback through my bank. What the hell am I supposed to do now? Does anybody have any input on this? Am I the only one that is shocked?

I have seen this happen to someone else before. I'm not sure what to make of it. I have opened support tickets at btc-e, but have never been contacted via skype.  It's gotta just be posing as someone from btc-e

How are you so sure it is BTC-e?

Someone could have hacked the support desk? If so they could have your log ins potentially and lock up your account that way... Im really not sure

Agreed. That skype account is fake. No reputable exchange will ever make you pay for support like that and they won't conduct business over skype where there's no official record of it. Any helpdesk platform will send the user a copy of all communications via email as a record of what happened so it can be referred back to. Only contact support via their helpdesk platform and ONLY communicate with them through it (unless you know with absolute certainty who you are talking to if you are communicating via skype). There have been many cases of people setting up fake skype accounts to try and fool people into thinking they are btc-e support. Their only goal is to extort money from unsuspecting victims or gain access to their personal information so they can empty their victim's accounts. Be EXTREMELY careful who you talk to and with what info you give them. Real support staff will NEVER ask you for any passwords or other sensitive information. If they do ask you for information like that, they are scammers trying to phish you.

The weird part is how they got his skype contact info in the first place?

Wow good job on not verifying the contact info was valid.

These are the types of pitfalls most newbs fall victim to. Do your due diligence before taking that next step in any part of crypto.

This place is lightly moderated and yet it shows up prominently in google search results. But it is not an authoritative source of information about BTC-E. That is non other than btc-e.com.
