Title: How to share access to my wallet? Post by: siarhei on February 16, 2014, 08:44:59 PM Hello, I have a business partner. How can i provide one with the access to the bitcoin wallet installed on my computer?
I gave him my wallet.dat file but nothing seems to happen. Please explain. Thanks Title: Re: How to share access to my wallet? Post by: Meuh6879 on February 16, 2014, 09:33:41 PM use transfer on android phone.
simple. ::) and, after you re-view you partner, he send the sum to your android phone ... and you secure this on bitcoin-QT. Title: Re: How to share access to my wallet? Post by: davidpbrown on February 16, 2014, 09:47:06 PM You could use a web wallet such as blockchain.info and both know the passwords, just don't use the mobile text as confirmation obviously.
There's no simple way to use two instances of the same wallet.dat. Each instance of a wallet.dat type will spawn new addresses that only it knows; that's why you must do regular backups after transactions, in case that transaction triggers another ~100 addresses to be spawned. In future there might be more sophisticated options for sharing, each person having a separate wallet and then being part of a trivial n of m setup. Right now you need to be using the same reference point - the exact same wallet, otherwise transactions from one might fail and you might then get confused about which is the valid wallet. If that does become a problem, export all private keys from both and merge to a new wallet and rescan the blockchain for the true balances on those. Title: Re: How to share access to my wallet? Post by: odolvlobo on February 16, 2014, 10:04:21 PM I gave him my wallet.dat file but nothing seems to happen. First and most importantly, you may have made a big mistake. You cannot keep two bitcoin-qt wallet.dat files in sync without risking the loss of bitcoins. If one of you has not sent bitcoins yet, then they should destroy their copy. If both of you have sent bitcoins then you both should import your wallets into a third wallet and destroy the old wallets. I don't know if the other wallet applications can support keeping wallets in sync. Hello, I have a business partner. How can i provide one with the access to the bitcoin wallet installed on my computer? I gave him my wallet.dat file but nothing seems to happen. Please explain. The simple solution is to use a blockchain.info wallet since the wallet is stored on the site and you can share the password. Another possibility is to use the offline features of Armory or Multibit. With those you can have a single offline wallet. Keep in mind that unless a wallet application is specifically designed to support multiple simultaneous access, you risk double-spending and database corruption if you both try to use it at around the same time. Thanks I guess best options are to have 2 different wallets @ bitcoin-qt or 1 @ blockchain Title: Re: How to share access to my wallet? You can duplicate instances of Google authenticator but I don't know whether Blockchain uses that as an option. Their mobile phone text would obviously be a problem too.
