Title: Regarding abusive action in pm
Post by: petuhov on July 18, 2018, 08:46:05 PM
Is there any punishment for a member if he uses abusive language in pm on this forum ? The report option should be enough for it ?

It depends upon what he said, report it to the admins/mods only if you find it too abusive. As per the rules  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0)there in no mention of such scenario. Just ignore the user,if he is just trying to troll you.

I would suggest giving more details about what the PM said.  I don't think mods are going to ban or otherwise take action against someone just based on offensive language, but I could be wrong.

In addition to what pugman said, there's always the option of blocking someone's PMs.  Don't know if you're aware of that, but you can create a list of whatever members you don't want to get PMs from.  My list is extensive and I'm very happy that feature exists.

He posted something abusive on my threads, I reported that and it was removed. Regarding the pm reported, will I get reply from the staff (it was mentioned at time of submission though that I will get a reply. )

And thanks for the help guys.

From my experience of reporting personal messages you don't always get a reply.  That's fine though because you don't really need confirmation of whether it was wrong or not. You could select a specific moderator to report it to, and ask them for an explanation if you really do care that much. Doesn't mean they'll give it to you though.

Block the person from sending you PMs and problem solved.

I remember reading a thread in meta mentioning "tolling" is not allowed and can result in ban.

If trolling is not allowed here, I do not think abuses would be allowed here. Only some staff can throw light on what action is taken for such a behavior here.
