Title: Sizable protest at MtGox offices?
Post by: BitShopper on February 17, 2014, 12:50:57 AM
Greetings everyone, after reading up a lot of information regarding the recent situation surrounding the MtGox crisis and viewing videos and reports of single users flying out to Tokyo to protest at the MtGox office it has left me feeling a little outraged.

Although I have absolutely no money or Bitcoins tied up in MtGox I feel great sorrow for those who are currently losing out and receiving no answers, especially those who have flown out there to just have the door literally slammed in their faces.

I'm looking to gather up a group of individuals, like a kind of syndicate who would be willing to travel to Tokyo to protest outside the MtGox offices in numbers, perhaps then we'll gain some clarification on the situation and perhaps some users will get their coins back!

As mentioned above, I'm not holding anything on Gox but would like to do my bit in supporting those who do.

This is just an idea, and probably won't happen but yeah I'm serious and I'm looking for those who are either looking for answers or would just generally like to show their support to the community.

Dates would be arranged around those who wish to participate so that we can accustom for people who have working or other commitments.
Travel expenses would be paid by each person, don't be stingy, it's just a return flight and an apartment for a few days / week / month :P lol

Thanks for reading.

I hope you are doing a peaceful project and not cause a riot as that would look bad for the Bitcoin communicty and make Bitcoin look very bad in the news.

Of course it would be a peaceful protest. We as a thriving community deserve to know the truth of the situation and those who are holding coins or currency in Gox deserve answers at the very least. The reason I've made this thread is because I believe that 10 - 20+ people protesting is a lot harder to shake off than one or two. Not only would the protest gain press in the Bitcoin scene it would hopefully give those higher up at Gox a kick up the backside to stop hiding away in their offices.

do debt collectors have any arguments for scamming Bitcoin I don't think Bitcoin is considered a currency so to actually succeed you would need to take mt gox to court and have a very good lawyer which would be very expensive.

thats true even if it is a peaceful protest the police are likely to get involved after the people in mt gox start making phone calls to them saying they feel threated this has been shown on the news a much recently.

Much of people's grief about their money being locked up at GOX could have been avoided had they just spent a day or a week looking into MTGOX's rep and their withdrawal issues for FIAT etc.

I personally think MTGOX should have had a rather obvious announcement letting new comers know the time it takes to withdrawal. Instead of allowing them to deposit and then locking up their funds for months.

This very tactic is why I call MTGOX scum.

I feel that the thread is going a little off topic here?

Is nobody interested in expressing their concern and support for themselves and others?

:(

They are nothing transparent, and behave like we can only suspect of illegal behaviour. If they are doing nothing morally wrong it still only their fault for ruining their company(i believe it will have to close its doors once withdrawal is allowed, if ever), simple full transparecy and minimal customer care could have saved them. WTF was the guy in the snow? I would ask him to enter and take a cofee even if i was scamming him!

Good idea in theory, but debt collectors could reflect poorly on the rest of bitcoin community if one of them were to do something stupid
