This is a board to collect suggestion how we can make NEM- Coin more popular.

I will post some information about NEM in Nextcoin.org.

Have you other ideas?

After collecting the suggestions, I wanna ask the NEM-devs, which idea we can implement to get this coin well-known!

I expect in time there will become a clear and understood distinction between Bitcoin1.0[+Alternate cryptocurrencies] and Bitcoin2.0[Protocols]

Perhaps getting a Bitcoin2.0 or [Protocols] forum here under [Other], instead of having to shout amongst the clutter of copycoins, would be a good step forward.
That would be then avaliable for the likes of Master (MSC); Next (NXT); ProtoShares (PTS); Counterparty (XCP) and of course NEM.

Having an official thread for development postings and pointers to other resources and core discussion threads here, would be a useful point of reference.

I could go on about promotional ideas, like giving NEMs coins to charity projects or promoting NEM for
open source projects, but the outstanding unique feature of the POS-concept should be exploited:

The great thing about NEM (as a NXT-Clone) is the fact that you can earn coins by forging with a simple
raspberry-pi node. So we could concentrate on promoting NEM to the folks who are into
raspberry-pis. Maybe we could offer a raspian-system with a pre-installed NEM-client.
 I don't know if this makes real sense, but I could imagine an open source project to create
NEM-nodes, already loaded with nem-coins, running out of the box. And they should be accessible via a
mobile phone, connect to the internet via wifi. These nodes would then forge coins for the user.
Once the hardware/software issues are worked out, people could independently produce these NEM-pis
or sell them.

Promote SCAM and Ponzi in general - NEM will profit.

Creating shill accounts with 0 posts to promote IPO scam coins like NXT & NEM on the altcoin forum sounds like an excellent idea.

The beautiful part of NEM is, the last I read, the "developer" said he was waiting for a future date before forking NXT, to create NEM.

So what exactly are you promoting when not a single line of code exists?  To promote something like that makes you either a scammer, or delusional when nothing to promote even exists.

I wouldn't trust it but you could certainly make sure that it does compile on a RPi and set out the instructions to do that from github.

Except the mods here don't acknowledge that and explicitly encourage alt-coins and others to have their own forums hosted elsewhere. They suffer the [Other > Alternate cryptocurrencies] only as a necessary evil, though as above I hope they might acknowledge Bitcoin2.0 Protocols as a different beast.

Can you proof NEM is (or will be) no fork of the NXT-Code? I doubt.

This is the same question everyone does I think: How to make X coin popular?

Whatever you do, if people use your coin just for trading, it is a failure. Money should be used to buy goods and services, aka products. How about launching an store that has support for your coin? or integrate your coin with major exchanges like vircurex? It takes work but will worth the effort.

Anybody know if NEM is coming soon on cryptsy ? Somebody told me that NEM/BTC is on cryptsy but i think it 's not yet.

You guys should just invest in bank shares if you supporting NEM/NXT and all these Ponzi schemes.

This is an education issue and Bitcoin suffers from it.  Bitcoin only has 1-2 million users when there's at least a billion people with regular access to the internet.

I think the difference NEM has from other alternates  is something called Proof of Importance.  PoI is the nearest equivalent (in equality) to Bitcoin CPU mining in 2009.  Yes there are currently CPU mining coins in 2014 but they can be gamed and exploited in several different ways.

i hate mrbean. too many british that are not funny and dress wierd or yeah cant sing. NEM does seem to have some great features but the attention span in the crypto world is really short so there needs to be something that will really draw people to NEM. It used to be just an anonymous marketplace or built in chat could draw people in but that's not really the case anymore.

I heard that a lot of people in Jamaica and the Caribbean area loved the Benny Hill Show...because they saw Mr. Hill himself as playing the stupid white guy.

2.) A friend of mine bought a stake in the NEM IPO at the beginning but doesn't know how to collect the share. Can anyone explain quickly how to do that?

For starters, make a decent logo. For something trying to be one of the contenders for the top 10 coinmarketcap slot, it has hands down the worst logo.

That is big news.

My suggestion is start a giveaway. It will get people interested and involved.

In the end, I presume what is more important is the use of a platform like NEM. NEM is not a coin per se. NEM is a platform that seeds an ecosystem.

Ecosystem assets will be more important.

Precisely. It is the features that are important for NEM. In the end, NEM is not about mining or speculating the value of the coin in the market. NEM is about an ecosystem and a platform where commerce, trade and finance should sit on.

That's what NEM is all about.

NEM, although is part of the crypto world, has a different agenda. It is developed to appeal to the rest of the 7 billion people rather than the 6 million people in the crypto world.

NEM is a movement of like minded people who'd want to make it work for the general masses.

NEM can never be a ponzi scheme. All its coins are distributed quite evenly. No one will stand to benefit.

In summary, NEM is a solution platform that changes the way we do commerce, trade and finance by way of using the bitcoin technology as the core engine and a fuel to power the financial ecosystem. NEM is the fuel and the block chain is the bitcoin technology.

It wasn't even an IPO and it was over like 6 months ago.  Back then people were calling it a scam too and that the developers would disappear, but surprise...... they actually came up with a pretty cool code from scratch.  

I understand your hesitation about IPO scams.  There are a ton of them out there where people copy, paste, produce and run with all the money.  At the time NEM was starting there were about 10 other similar projects that did just that.  But NEM has really made a new code, a new client, and a new Po_ called PoI, so to me it is pretty impressive.  

I think the client has already been put on Github too for people to review.

Here is my idea.
Make a movement that anyone make a video or sing a song about NEM we can give them some NEM share.

Its not a bad idea to promote NEM on this way. The same promo has made DOGE as popular as we know it today.
Some of those videos ( available on youtube) of DOGE-Parties are legendary.
It would be the best for NEM to promote it via youtube and so on. We shouldn't forget that everyman is impressable via TV-spots, Youtube-clips et cetera.
