Title: 280x Problem - low hash rate after power cut.
Post by: Mk2vr6 on February 17, 2014, 04:53:35 PM
I am running one 280x (Sapphire VaporX - 11221-02-40G) and using -

-I 13 -g 2 -w 384 --thread-concurrency 8191 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1085 --gpu-memclock 1500 --temp-target 73 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 20-74 --temp-overheat 87 --temp-cutoff 95 --no-submit-stale

I was averaging 750kh/s no problem.

Last night I decided to bump the GPU clock and memory up to - 1150/1800. Checked temps and they where stable at 71/72 before leaving it and going to bed.

Last night we had a powercut for a few mins, and now using the above settings I am only averaging 570kh!! Reverting back to the above batch file of 1085/1500 I only average 470kh!!

 :'(

Anyone care to take an educated guess as to whats happened?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know what could have happened but try to use SMOS linux distribution. Everything is automated there. Check if this helps or not.

Cheers BTCPoland! Can this be installed along side windows on the same partition? Or booted from a USB stick?

I need to do some research.

Edit/ just read - bootable usb stick.

Just strange how or why I can't get the same hash rates. I've took card out, reseated it, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers etc.

Are you mining at the same pool and coin? That 1085 engine may be too high for some coins/pools/block times.

I'll try a totally different pool/coin to test then. The problem is my old settings are still only resulting around 500kh.

Try smos. It will take you 30 mins to download and 10 mins to setup.

Can't get it to boot with this MOBO though!!

Either way, it has been hashing fine for a few weeks - one powercut and now nothing I tweak can get it above 580kh

Something damaged maybe??

I'm going to switch back to my Asrock extreme4 tomorrow, and see if that makes a difference.

No Difference on either board.

I've found I can hit 650kh stable if I use GPU-950/MEM-1450.

If I now revert back to original settings (1085/1500) the whole system freezes and crashes!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Could it be a faulty card, and if so is there any checks i can run to test it?
