wow, its great to hear that news, so the workers and employee in Costa rica can get the cryptocurrencies as their salary? maybe it will be a good things and bad things, good things is bitcoin is more popular because of this and maybe some people in Costa rica will buy bitcoin, but the bad things is when the price of bitcoin is down, they got some losses because of they hold bitcoin from their salary

if this is what works for people- i'm all for it! i'm glad that crypto is being invested into everyday life, and hopefully this won't be such a rare thing. it will be more common

there is some problems with this. mainly it depends on the views of the government about cryptocurrencies, if they see them as commodities, etc. then there will be some taxation problems involved but if they see it as a currency then things will be a lot easier when getting paid in them but the problem is only bitcoin is a currency not all the rest!
additionally there is no point getting paid in something that is hugely volatile and i am not talking about bitcoin, but the altcoins that also happen to be manipulated too. and as long as you can't spend it (no place accepts them as payment) there is no point getting paid in it.

Wow this is great nice to here this news. I hope someday cryptocurrency will be accepted all over the world. Because some of the countries don't recognize it yet. But because of this article there's a chance that crypto will be accepted to all soon. And I want to be paid in cryptocurrency too.

It will be a good thing as long as the cryptocurrency grows. Depending on what it is and what it will be used for the cryptocurrency may have no use. On the other hand, if they are getting paid in something like Ethereum or Ripple then there will be immense value in having and transacting with it.

After Japan, Costa Rica started to pay workers using bitcoin. I think that's very good news, especially if workers can get back to trade the bitcoin they have on some exchangers so they will get another benefit

This is not the first time a government allowed employers to pay their employees with Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, actually it is already happening is some other countries like japan. But this is a great news for workers from costa rica, since they can soon choose to receive part of their salaries in cryptocurrency. It may be a good thing or bad thing. Good thing is bitcoin will be more popular and thus, some people in Costa Rica will buy bitcoin. The bad thing is when the price of bitcoin is down, workers may suffer some losses because bitcoin is hold from their salary.

Great move by Costa Rican government, making cryptocurrency legal is our dream of course but still there are some places have no final decision about cryptos but for sure they will follow the same footstep as Costa Rican government did. My only concern with this is that, the volatility is very high and they might receive a lower value that is not enough to sustain for their needs everyday, there's still a risk on this platform hope everyone is ready for that.

Costa Rica is very good at implementing a payment system using Bitcoin, as other countries do the same but some companies in every country, it would be nice if the government did not make a messy situation where they mostly always wanted to ban the spread of cryptocurrency reasoned price fluctuated high risk, or is it clear to recommend always using fiat as a means of payment, perhaps to make it easier to apply taxation? it may be dirty like corruption because the fiat is so easy, it will all run long and smoothly if there is alignment between cryptocurrency and local government, because the method of payment using Bitcoin is a good step for the future.

don't confuse what you read in the news with what the government of different countries want to do.
the problem is, the bitcoin related news sites has always been so shitty. they just publish nonsense to increase their traffic. and making them exciting like saying a country is banning bitcoin is always a good click-bait thing where people visit and read. but there has always been small truth about any of them.

The establishing of this kind of platforms will take too long because of the lack of education and knowledge in cryptocurrency by some of the people there. They could teach the people so they will learn what is bitcoins and what is cryptocurrency. Via TV shows, Free meeting, and orientations that will teach the people.

Doesn't change anything I don't think so. You want to get paid in crypto, get paid in crypto. Let's see if any state can stop you. Legal is not something that makes it possible to happen. Legal just means there are finally grounds for the govt to tax you, for your crypto, and well okay, more centralized exchanges can open and take your business away from p2p.

First thing government need to survey that how many employees are happy with the decision of their use of bitcoin as salary mode? I mean its all right if al of them are happy with it but what if not everyone is willing to accept bitcoin. Its not sarcasm of some sort because there are many people who still dont want to accept the reality of bitcoin existence.

The volatility could be disturbing factor here. I mean every month end when it will come to paying the salaries then USD values would be different. Can be messy.

Will it be trend? : Anything that comes out as brand new stuff becomes the trend. Eventually people get bored of it. Then they go for new ways. Its just the cycle.

I see that today a lot of good news about the crypto world. if I look at the geographical condition, Costa Rica is a small country, and there are still many poor people. but Costa Rica is also the happiest country.

I see that Costa Rica will be a country like Venezuela, if Venezuela has crypto that backed by state oil, but in Costa Rica there is no oil, and they use electricity by utilizing renewable natural resources.

If I understand this correctly, they are saying that these workers can chose to accept a option where they receive a portion of their salary in Bitcoin, which is a good thing for those people who converts some of their salary into Bitcoin, every month.

The employees do not have to pay exchange fees to get the money converted and they have a portion of their salary in a currency/commodity that are a store of value.  ;D

How will Govt tax them. Lets say that they are paid in Bitcoins every month, what is price of Bitcoin declined near the time when they have to pay taxes?

Giving salaries in crypto makes matters more complex and doesn't achieve anything. Considering volatility of this market, workers may incur losses due to it and  then they'll stop accepting crypto as their salaries. Instead of giving salaries in crypto, people should be educated about crypto industry and technology.

So, I think this trend won't last long because Bitcoin can't replace fiat as long as whales are there, and hence, high volatility is there.

It all depends on whether cryptocurrency is considered a currency, asset or both in the country.

Ofcourse it will last if it's meant for us. The salary allocation should be below 40% though due to volatility. I would allocate just 15 - 30 percent

This is very existing news, and a very nice use case for crypto currencies. If you gets paid in crypto and can spend you crypto to shop and pay your taxes in crypto, then crypto currencies are fully integrated into the society.
To get crypto paycheck to work, the rate where people can buy and sell the crypto need to be relative stabile, or at least better than the inflations rate in the country.

This should be a starting place for many of the other countries which are close by to them and are in poverty right now using their own local currency.

This is a nice trend. I also hope to start an office open day (for work related to Internet marketting). I will give the option to workers to take payment in crypto (if allowed by law in my country). When those workers are old and if they have kept some of those crypto, it can be a huge amount.

The biggest problem there is unstable price of Bitcoin. They still have to convert it to fiat currency and is the price of Bitcoin fall on the market, you automatically have less cash then you had. I would like to be paid for my work with a fix price so I could know what I am in control with.
