Post by: Lionel on February 18, 2014, 11:32:20 AM
Hi,
i have created a faucet site for 3 currencies: BTC, LTC and USD.
I'm introducing it here for a beta test, this is the link: http://stealthepixels.com/get-free-money/

I'm asking you to kindly report me suggestions on improving it, your first impression and eventual bugs you may find.

Where is the security question?
Look for working bitcoin PTC and faucets at www.cmy.co (http://www.cmy.co)

How exactly will the 50% ref back work, if my chosen payment is not the chosen payment the person I refer picks?

It's that question at the bottom after the option for LTC payments.

Quick grammar check: "How many pennys a dollar is?" - That's one of the security questions. Shouldn't it be "How many pennies are in a dollar?" It sounds better.

0.01/0.00000272= 3676.47058824
so after 3676 request I will be able to withdraw?

if we convert that to time it will be  1838 hours

1838 hours are 76 days straight!

Do you think we are robots and only stay on your site to try and get 0.01?

A normal person without referrals will be able to cash out from your site after 1 year!Only if a normal person use the PC 6 hours/day!

If you use the PC for 6 hours/day and you are never late at requesting your payout you will need 306 days!

I think you should choose between raising the reward or lowering the cash out!

Is the amount we receive random to a certain degree? Or are they just dropping in amount?

How exactly will the 50% ref back work, if my chosen payment is not the chosen payment the person I refer picks?

If the referral and the referrer use different currencies, conversions will apply.
Example: you are using the paypal faucet (USD) and you give your referral code ABCD to your friend, but yout friend logs in to the faucet with his BTC account.
He gets , say, a 0.000002 BTC dispense, and you win the 50% that is 0.000001 BTC converted into USD.
The conversion is done with MtGox rates.

The site internally uses MtGox API for BTC/USD conversions and Cryptsy API for BTC/LTC and LTC/USD conversions.

I've fixed the grammar error, thank you :D

Yes you're right, i'll do that soon.

For the paypal faucet, i think the cashout cannot be very low due to the paypal fees.

For BTC and LTC i have to check what is the cashout limit other faucets have, then i'll align the mine with the other ones.

Yes the dispense is random between a minimum and a maximum.

For now the dispense boundaries are set as

USD   min 0.0016   max 0.007
BTC   min 0.000002 max 0.00003
LTC   min 0.000074 max 0.000374

But i'll have to tune them better

If you know a better API for BTC/USD let me know, maybe CoinPayments API?
Cryptsy does not have BTC/USD, only BTC/LTC

p.s. Cryptsy does not even have LTC/USD ratio, i find it by combining BTC/USD from MtGox and BTC/LTC from Cryptsy

Every time.

If your friend enters the faucet via your referral link, he is "locked" to you for the subsequent times too.

i.e. you'll get 50% each time he'll enter the faucet again, even if he enters via the regular link ( http://www.stealthepixels.com/get-free-money ) and not necessarily via the referral link.

We have contacted you via email, have you checked it?

You have registered with these usernames:

We'll double the faucet reward as soon as all free pixels from the homepage are taken! :)

..and in the future it's likely we'll double it again and again as the pixels become more expensive

Now the dispenses are random values between

USD   Min 0.0032     Max 0.014
BTC   Min 0.000004   Max 0.00006
LTC   Min 0.000148   Max 0.000748

We'll raise the reward again as the cost of the pixels on the homepage goes up ;)

I don't think it is scam, because they have that advertising system and all. And free money amount will get bigger after more pixel bought so it will be easier to get minimum amount in future.

Now you can add a range of them by holding SHIFT and then clicking on the upper-left and lower-right corners.
Try it out if it works :)

Are you using Chrome? It works fine with firefox, IE or safari.
It is a performance issue with Chrome that we are trying to fix but it's not going to happen overnight.
For now just use another browser, please

We didn't expect this issue to happen when the board is full

It is kinda big picture, so if you have poor computer or internet connection it can cause lag.

Hi,
i have created a faucet site for 3 currencies: BTC, LTC and USD.
I'm introducing it here for a beta test, this is the link: http://stealthepixels.com/get-free-money/

I'm asking you to kindly report me suggestions on improving it, your first impression and eventual bugs you may find.

Do u think u can cover the cost with CoinURL earning ? They are PPC not CPM.

We have just reduced the minimum balance to get the payout:

2 USD
0.01 BTC
0.15 LTC

Edit: Currently our BTC and LTC wallets are on Vircurex which has the minimum withdrawal amounts of 0.01 BTC or 0.15 LTC, so we can not go lower than that.
If we find a way to lower down the min. payout we will let you know

Did you send 0.008BTC to 1Agy5BVCxFHi34nJxPdggyAoGh4XLAwbdP ?

No, 0.01 BTC

Today we sent 3 withdrawals: one BTC and one LTC as shown in the screenshot

and 3.17 USD to a paypal account (undisclosed for privacy)

0.15 LTC

Calm down :)
When you've requested the withdrawal, your balance was about BTC 0.0052, so you should have received that amount.

But Vircurex only allows to withdraw 0.01 at least, so we sent 0.01 to you. You received 0.008 due to the Vircurex fee.
You still received more than you should have :D

Indeed we have not implemented that feature.

We could make the site send a notification to you when someone else buys your blocks, and when you log in to the site you'll see those blocks in red color.

Does it have to be web wallet?

Why not just use Multibit or Electrum for your BTC wallet and keep everything offline? Or if you need the daemon for your system to work, just download the QT and let it sync. These options seem much more secure than leaving your funds in an exchange wallet. Seems like ANY site that's handling user funds should be using their own offline wallet and not trusting their private keys to anybody.

Does it have to be web wallet?

No, we can set up an offline wallet but we want to do it on a VPS, not on our local machines because we are always traveling around so that we must use USB 3G modems.
Syncing the QT wallet with those connections would exhaust the available monthly bandwith in a few hours!

Given that, we'll setup it on a VPS as soon as the income from the site grows up to cover the cost of the VPS.

P.S. We've just sent a 2.07$ withdrawal to the same paypal account of the last time. If the holder of that account is reading this, well.. congrats to you :)

Yes we are thinking about how exactly to implement it, we want it to fit well and show all the required info.

For now we have added the stats for

- traffic on the site
- clicks you get on your advertising
- pixel purchases

on the page http://www.stealthepixels.com/history/

Thank u!! :D

Guys we have some problems with blockchain: i'm trying to send the next withdrawals but it fails.

The last 2 withdrawals we sent were these ones
http://s17.postimg.org/s07lrirpr/unconfirmed.png

We set a BTC0.00002 network fee for both, which is very low.
Maybe that caused the issue? They blacklisted me for having set a low network fee for the last withdrawals?
We have contacted blockchain support but still no response :(

Those who have a pending withdrawal should wait a bit.
In the meantime you can still get more dispenses of course.

It just take very long time to confirm those, and if they won't confirm in 24 hours blockchain will automatically  canel them and you can send them again with bigger fee.

Yes, check tx from that transaction and you see you didn't really send only 0.01, you sent your ALL coins in to 2 addresses = that 0.01 to one and rest back to your own address. And thats why you can't use them (they aren't confirmed).

We were forced to do that because we are receiving too many withdrawal requests while few people is buying ads on the homepage...we're going to lose lots of money in this way.

Maybe advertisers have little interest in getting ad space due to the low performance of the homepage.

But now we have just fixed that issue a few minutes ago :D
So i expect advertisers are gonna be more interested, and if so we'll lower the faucet timeout too.

We'll see...

work perfectly & load time faster than before, well done! (firefox 27.0.1)

when i claim BTC, i've seen :You can get no more than a dispense every 60 minutes.
seem waiting time increase  ;D
and when i get my withdrawal? i've waited for estimate 24 hours  :-\
-
one suggestion : could you please add information about available balance for bettting.
in example : i have 0.01 BTC, and i've bet 1 match with amount 0.004 BTC.
i don't know how many available balance that i can bet again for another match (if i don't remember before / too many bets before)
so you can add another information about available balance for betting, maybe below Bet on sports section
thanks

Wow i was right: 44 clicks on the pixels yesterday!! http://stealthepixels.com/history/

2 days ago only 18 clicks by the same number of visitors.

Maybe this improvement is due to the optimization of the pixel board, so i'm sure the pixel advertising is more valuable now.

You can bet part of your balance on sports events, and if you win you multiply the amount you bet.
No need to deposit, the money you bet will be taken from your balance.

Example:

The event "Chicago Bulls beat Houston rockets"
You see the buttons Yes 1.85 and No 2.05 where the numbers are the multipliers of Yes and No.
If you bet 1BTC on Yes and Chicago Bulls win, you win 1 BTC x 1.85 = 1.85 BTC

For now you can only bet the money you have on your faucet balance, not more than that.
Sorry if it is not a full-functional betting site, but it is not meant to be, it is a faucet and pixel advertising site.

If you win, the prize will be automatically added to your faucet balance.
If you lose, the money you bet will be deducted from your balance.

A message will appear the next time you enter the faucet after the bet is resolved.
It will tell you if you won or lost.

Title: Re: New BTC faucet!
Post by: Lionel on March 13, 2014, 09:31:35 PM
Many people tried to buy pixel advertising with BTC but the payment process failed.

1- You have clicked on the button "Buy with BTC/LTC"
2- Then, you were redirected to the site BTCMerch.com which shows the error "Amount should be bigger than 0.xxxx BTC"

So the issue is in the BTCMerch checkout, which is an alternative to BitPay.
Now we'll try removing BTCMerch and replacing it with BitPay for BTC payments and the problem should not persist anymore.

You can re-try your payment when you want because your cart is saved, you only have to login again to StealThePixels after we solve this problem.
Then you'll find all your pixel blocks already added to the cart, you only have to click the Buy button.

We'll get back to you soon ;)

We have fixed the checkout bug that prevented you from buying your pixels.

Now you can re-try making the payment from http://stealthepixels.com/buy-pixels/
You'll find your pixels already added to your cart after the login.

Regards and thank you for supporting us!

P.S. We have integrated CoinPayments for the time being, it works well

It seems the faucet reward has been lowered as well. :/

Yes it did.
We had doubled it before because we were expecting to sell advertising space after then, since the traffic and clicks on the pixels went up a lot.

New advertisers should have been attracted by the increase in traffic&clicks on the big banner, but they haven't.

As a consequence, we've sent lots of withdrawals from the faucet without having an income in return.

We can not keep going like this...

Excuse me , for "ref. info" did you mean your referral code to give to other people to get commissions from them?
Scroll down the page a bit until you reach the paragraph "Money faucet referrals" with an icon of a faucet.
There you'll find the url with your referral code, to be given to your friends.

I thought you mean you want to check the history of the commissions you got from your referrals.
We want to implement that too, but first we have to think how to avoid a privacy problem: in that history you'll see in clear all the paypal accounts and btc/ltc wallets of your referrals.

It is not good for the privacy sake...any suggestions?
Would it be nice to only show a part of the referral's wallet/email?

And please make only one line per address? Because I have already 400 lines in that list and it is only like 2nd day :D And I like to see who is biggest of my referrals (I don't feel like counting it :D).

Example:

Now is it like this:

Date/Time                                         Referral   Referral's dispense   Your commission   Percentage
2014-03-19 16:28:29 GMT   1MKFQCKNCup3EoYmdXXXXX   0.00000304 BTC   0.00000152 BTC   50%
2014-03-19 16:26:53 GMT   1MKFQCKNCup3EoYmdXXXXX 0.00000233 BTC   0.00000116 BTC   50%
2014-03-19 16:22:55 GMT   1EaV2wukyg9pUBM2AXXXXX   0.00000415 BTC   0.00000208 BTC   50%
2014-03-19 16:22:41 GMT   1EaV2wukyg9pUBM2AXXXXX   0.00000347 BTC   0.00000174 BTC   50%
2014-03-19 16:21:30 GMT   1LZthtoGwk5xqHdV2XXXXX   0.00000274 BTC   0.00000137 BTC   50%
2014-03-19 16:21:16 GMT   1JkoQ4TRKpuzLzQDsXXXXX   0.00000231 BTC   0.00000115 BTC   50%

I think this is better:

Last time used faucet:                            Referral           Referral's total dispense    Your total commission
2014-03-19 16:28:29 GMT   1MKFQCKNCup3EoYmdXXXXX 0.00000537 BTC   0.00000268 BTC
2014-03-19 16:22:55 GMT   1EaV2wukyg9pUBM2AXXXXX 0.00000763 BTC   0.00000382 BTC
2014-03-19 16:21:30 GMT   1LZthtoGwk5xqHdV2XXXXX   0.00000274 BTC   0.00000137 BTC
2014-03-19 16:21:16 GMT   1JkoQ4TRKpuzLzQDsXXXXX   0.00000231 BTC   0.00000115 BTC

Why is that 50% showing? Isn't it always 50%?

Why is that 50% showing? Isn't it always 50%?

Ok
This is the complete list of the next features we're working on:

--------------------------

Get Pixels page

We'll add these options:

- Empty cart (to clear all the pixels from your cart)

- Add ALL the pixels (to purchase the entire pixel board!)

- Set all offers to the minimum (the minimum is the price the previous buyer paid, plus 1 cent)

- Increase all offers by... (you enter the price value to be added to all the blocks in your cart)

- Decrease all offers by... (you enter the price value to be detracted from all the blocks in your cart)

-----------------------------------

Homepage

When the mouse hovers on a pixel, the description of the ad will be shown in a persistent popup rectangle which is more readable.
That should increase the probability that the visitor will be interested in clicking on the ad.

-----------------------------------

Referral commissions history

There will be two View Modes:

- the "detailed" one which is the current one with also the count of the total referrals you have and the total sum of the commissions you've got

- the "grouped view" which will show the list grouped by referrals as you said above :)

About the percentage i thought it can vary over time so i wanted to track it on history.
Well maybe i can remove it for now.

-----------------------------------

Any more suggestions?
I'm thinking about adding in the Get Pixels page the option "Set all offers to exact price..."

How about something like that? I usually don't go to front page at all, I go direct to free money page from bookmarks so this would get more clicks for pixels, I guess.

I appreciate your effort to make that sketch it's very professional!:D

But.. mixing the homepage with the faucet would be a little messy for the user experience, i need to think about that.
Thank you for helping me out :)

I think the improvements i've listed above make the site more appealing.

I've just implemented the new features for the Get Pixels section, plus...

- you can see the exact price you're offering for each specific block, not only the total.

- in the Statistics page under Top Advertisements you can see how many $dollars$ each advertiser spent in total to get those clicks

This site is apparently getting pretty big. >12,000 siteviews today.. Wow

But rates have been halved again :(
I have got under 200 satoshi now many times in row.
Now free bitcoin pays more with minimum 350 satoshi per hour.

And I guess siteviews is different thing than unique visitors.

Yeah, but it seams like that is just  countermeasures because they get flooded by bots?

Hi,
i'm sorry we have temporarily lowered the dispense because traffic (and withdrawals) went up dramatically and we want to investigate: that may be due to bots, not genuine visitors!!

And we have lost money too with the many withdrawals we sent lately, so we need to adjust our business plan in order for our income source to be stronger than the withdrawals from the faucet.
Once we solve that point we'll raise again the dispenses of course, because as you said our competitors like freebitcoins offer higher dispenses and we want to be at least aligned with them if not better!!

And yeah, the counter on the bottom of the page shows site visits, not unique visitors, while in the Statistics page we report Unique Visitors which is more relevant for advertisers.

Do you want bigger hourly prices?
Here is what you have to do:
Every time you go to site, click add (or two).
And tell your friends if they need some add space, or buy adds yourself ;)

I did my part now and bought 4.44$ worth of pixels :)
Btw, wall of fame not working. And I can't click pixels with mobile safari. (I do have Java Script on)

From now on, who gets 500+ pixel blocks has the right to place a banner on the Get Free Money section, where 95% of the traffic goes to.
When someone else makes a 500+ block purchase, he "steals" that banner to the previous winner :D
Otherwise it will be there forever

Hey holdaaja you are the winner for now
Are you happy? ;)

p.s. wall of fame not working, what do you mean?

I have to agree that if you showed the pixels also on the free money page, than you would have much more traffic for the ads. Which would raise the intrest in buying them.

Or am i wrong in that assumption?

Or am i wrong in that assumption?

Mixing the two sections would be a mess, people would get confused.

However i have added the "500 block purchase contest" i was talking about: who gets 500+ pixel blocks can also place a banner on the faucet page.

And I haven't seen anyone even buying those pixels.

bounty is less: many people are using TOR and similar techniques and we're trying to protect ourselves.

pending bets: we're not a full-featured betting site, bets are only a side feature :)
Click on the referral link at the end of bets section and use our partner site, which has lots of sports/features and bets are resolved quickly.

We'll get a commission from them if you deposit at least 0.01, and if many of you do that , we have more money and you'll get higher dispenses from the faucet :)

Not a big casino but a sweet 30% on ref revenue : "You can be making 30% from every person you send our way. Just log-in to get your unique referral link below and spread it around. Yes, it's that easy!"

Well, they've been promoting their site on bitcointalk.org in the last few days - they even have a giveaway in the Games and rounds forum.
I also think they've been buying signatures.

Yes we want to do it and we are setting things up.
For now you can try finding more referrals that point to your LTC account, even if they use different currencies like BTC or USD.

In that case when they get a dispense in BTC or USD, you get 50% converted in LTC.
So it is not required that your referrals use LTC.

You get the 50% each time your referrals get a dispense.
Read "Money faucet referrals" on the faucet page when you enter the faucet.

You can also have referrals for the advertising purchases (pixels).

Sounds great

Another news: in the Referral commissions history now you can see the number of referrals you have , the grouped sum of their earnings and your total commissions from each of them.

For a while you won't be able to check the old detailed history with each single commission, because someone of you has a lot of them something like 17,700 and that makes the page go out of memory with all that data.
We have to split it into pages with maybe 1,000 of them at a time.

Then you'll be able to switch between detailed history and overview (the one you see now).

Nice to see that rates are going up finally :)

I can see amount of my "referrals referrals" in referral history and amount I have got commission from them but I haven't notice how big percent I get from my referrals referrals? I thought ref links are only one level at there but looks like they are two level.

By "every time" you mean "each time i enter the faucet with my BTC wallet"?

It's normal, you get a prize when you do that and the balance goes up :)

Are you sure you haven't placed bets?
When you win or lose a bet , your balance goes up or down depending on how much you bet.

P.S. We are working to lower the 60 minutes limit so you can get more daily money

I was looking at the address you guys use to make the faucet payments and noticed a bunch of unconfirmed transactions. Then a day later some of those transactions aren't listed anymore. There's still one unconfirmed transaction Since you're sending payments through blockchain.info, it only retries for a certain period of time, then stops if no miner accepts it, so some people aren't getting their withdrawals because you're using too low a transaction fee. It would be better if you bunched together the payments and then use the recommended transaction fee.

We haven't received any notification via email from Blockchain and i'm sure they would let you know.

However we have started sending many payments in one unique tx with the default fee as you said

It should not happen anymore since we are using the recommended fee now

Nope, just the only example transaction readily available.

Are you sure they got deleted?
We haven't received any notification via email from Blockchain and i'm sure they would let you know.

However we have started sending many payments in one unique tx with the default fee as you said
Here's a transaction that disappeared:
https://blockchain.info/tx/a38f301eacccc7e2ad197ace10f91237d2bc117bf90746be3e91f3c10afceb13 (https://blockchain.info/tx/a38f301eacccc7e2ad197ace10f91237d2bc117bf90746be3e91f3c10afceb13)

Sorry if you see some popunder ads, we're testing them for a few days.

We'll probably decrease the prize timeout very soon  8) but first we have to estimate the ad revenue from popunders.

We will decrease the minimum withdrawal soon, don't worry :)

Which are the faucets you prefer and you find more generous?

And also if the frequency will become 5 minutes and not 15, that will be a way to make the withdrawal faster.

P.S. Well i was asking myself... why nobody made a USD faucet?? And so i made one myself, i know it's crazy idea but crazyness is part of our mission :D

Is the prize value going to shrink again? Right now I'm seeing prizes of only 50 satoshi, which is on the lowest end of the spectrum. There's so many faucets already out there and users only have so much time during the day, so they're going to prioritize the highest paying faucets. It's better for both parties if you make the frequency less and prizes more, or at lease keep them in check with other faucets.

No no the shrinking was temporary to test the new frequency, now we are increasing it day by day.

It's already higher now.

you should ding his trust rating (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=140881) for that. IMHO it's dishonest what he did. if he starts another faucet or a different service, people should know not to trust him.

Of course we'll give you something back for that: we'll raise up the dispense and reduce the minimum withdrawal.
By the way..hey we're not becoming millionaires for that reflink :)

Maintenance was urgent for a bug we have found in the withdrawal system
What ads? There is just the redirect now, no ads

Faucet will be back online friday night or at most saturday night

If you're using any sort of modern database it will support a query language (e.g. SQL) that should make it very easy to get the list of "stuck" withdrawals. That would probably be less of a hassle for all parties involved.

I know the DB supports SQL but since most of those payments are very old i want to be sure the destination address is still in use by the owner
People often ask us to change their address because they don't have access to the old one etc.

BTW, couldn't you check the last transaction date using blocktrail or blockchain.info to see if an address was still in use?

Hello to all users.

We have been waiting for our deposit via bank transfer to be loaded on Bitstamp since Saturday, but it did not reach it yet.

So we cannot buy Bitcoin to reload our wallet now.
As soon as we have the money on Bitstamp we can buy BTC for you.

Probably by Thursday we will send you the coins.

Rewards are given every 30min, and the dispense is variable depending on the earnings we get from the ads.

Now it is low, about 200-250 SAT every 30 min but another day can be the double :)

We feel sorry to say that this faucet has been banned by Google Adsense. Without Adsense support, we are forced to close it because we are not able to give you the rewards.

We have no idea how in the world the other faucets like BitcoinAliens are still alive and with Adsense ads running, while StealThePixels has been banned after just 2 months. If you have hints about this, please contact us.
