Most of us here never believed cryptocurrency will come this far when btc was launched. We would have rubbished any idea to join cryptocurrency at that time.Now some of us are a bit late but we are still better off than those who will inevitably join some years to come.So we have generational thinkers,kudos to those who started the fight earlier and brought the industry this far.

In 2009, crypto wasn't anywhere near my radar.  What kills me though is that I held over 100 BTC in ~2012 at around $5 per coin and sold them at all a very small profit after a few months.

I have only known cryptocurrency since the last three years, before that I still can not believe bitcoin will be as it is today. I started believing since my friend was successful because of bitcoin and taught me to know bitcoin and took advantage of bitcoin

I saw Bitcoins and cryptocurrency springing up in the early 2010 and didn't take it serious, I thought it was part of the online scam or hype system which will go out of existence in no time. Never knew cryptocurrencies would come far like this.

Great question. Of course, if you know what will happen in the future, then would become a billionaire, would buy bitcoin for a penny and in the mustache would not blow.

My problem was not believe, i was in college in 2009 lol
and i even had no one to telll me about bitcoin or blockchain or crypto currency
but still, i am glad i learned, the knowledge keeps coming and the profits too

Before 2009 the internet world was full of SCAM. Like with MLM, pay per click etc.. Who knows that BTC will be the leading currency in the world. I also thought that it might be some kind of giant SCAM. But day by day i can see the result of BTC which made be bound to trust on BTC. And in 2017 i have entered in this world.

At that time I was still crazy about playing games and not at all knowing about cryptocurrency, when 2011-2014 I got interested in payperclick and in 2014/2015 where I got interested in cryptocurrency, I followed stellar aidrop back then and had a break until 2017 after that I started getting to know this forum and boom!!!

I know it's too late but crypto has changed my life completely. But yes I still regret that time was not knowing about crypto, anyway Blockchain is still a developmental stage i think and at least we're part of it right now! So it's still not too late (Maybe) ;D. Sorry for my bad english

In 2009 Bitcoin is not yet that popular to notice and there are other trends in 2009 which is the media always took advantage of advertising it compared to the Bitcoin. Hence, Bitcoin came across when it was 2012 or 2013 and that time it is not yet considered as legal because mostly it is reportedly being used for illegal transactions, that's why the people and medias aren't catching it, until one of my friend told me this that it is possible to earn Bitcoin through mining with your own PC. Then that was the time i decided to enter to the world of crypto currency.

I remember that when someone in here said that it's so easy to mine bitcoin when it was on 2009 and he was saying that you can earn hundreds of bitcoin with your pentium 3 computer in a day. In this time it worth a million dollars and that's so crazy amount. Some people have already become millionaires from bitcoin such as roger, winklevoss, and many more.

I'm joining cryptocurrency because I see the potentials that will help me achieve my goals specially in financial aspect. In 2009, I'm still a fresh year student in college. Don't heard about bitcoin and dont have any idea about investment until I graduated. I only heard bitcoin last june 2017 ,when I had a vacation in Taiwan.

This is one of my regret to be honest. I should have invested on bitcoin last 2009 but I ignored it because 1. I don't have the money yet. 2. I am not that into investment that time. I am so focus on earning on a daily basis and not focusing on getting rich. Years passed and I continue to ignore bitcoin. What I am doing right now is to work for bounties as much as I can and have enough capital to invest on alternate coins.

Not only you many people have done that mistake of selling bitcoins for small to medium size profits because no one knows what will be the future. So if you have made a profit from your trade then no need to regret it. I too started investing in bitcoin when its prices were less than $100 but still keeping some not many coins and not regretting booking profits now and then during last few years. Bitcoins has shown me ways to earn some extra money during my free time.

Most people didn't recognize bitcoin at all in 2009, nor did they understand the true value of blockchains.
So they missed the opportunity, but now the value of bitcoin is starting to show up. ;D

I was not aware of crypto as early as 2009 and was busy studying in college durinh that time. I learned about crypto last 2013 when my brother first earned through crypto investment. From then on, I educated my self and learned about crypto.

I joined the cryptocurreny because a friend of mine joined here and I followed him and was curious about the cryptocurreny. At the time of 2009 I did not know what cryptocurreny was like and how.

I've been late now in joining  about in cryptocurrency words but doesnt means thats i'm late also about the benefits and knowledge in crypto investment,because as long as we become industrious and willing to sacrifice and take the risk ,i know thats those our goal would become achieve if we have a strong faith in crypto system,actualy in my own definition its better to late in knowing or joining in cryptocurrency investment than never  knowing the whole of your life.

I heard bitcoin just last year of November 2017 from a friend. And that time since first time I heard that thing, I just ignore it and focus with my regular job. Two months had passed again my friend ask me to join cryptocurrency and he showed me what he got from joining. And with that proof, I was convince by him to jump in here and slowly I learn what cryptocurrency is and how does it works. And now I am earning bitcoin little by little through faucets, mining, and joining bounty campaigns.

Not exactly in 2009, but in 2010, my brother talked about some virtual currencies to me and I did not pay any attention. It just sounded silly back then. No one cared. Then until he built a little rig and started mining, i gave him a little help. That was the first time I really "joined"
After all bitcoin ended up having a great hype and my brother sold his coins. He gave me some for profits because I helped him.

I discover cryptocurrency in just a year ago mate thats why i call it as a late in here. If in the year of 2009 i already here, i think that i have now a huge profit in many coin because in that year bitcoin is so much low in price.

I'm still in my high school when bitcoin started. No one has ever told me about that so, there is no way I can bump with bitcoin. Until 2015, when a friend told me about this, from then on, I never left bitcoin 'cause I have a strong feeling that this will be highly adopted in the next coming years more than how it is currently used.

 When I learned about Bitcoin in early 2010, I was still just a child studying in junior high school. I totally do not understand technology because I do not have a computer at home. I can not find out about them and my family is poor.
I have absolutely no opportunity to join sooner. But I still feel lucky to have been involved in this market, even though it is late.

I don't see cryptocurrency at 2009 and ignore it when start comes up in 2014. At that time I focus on blog and forex, get income and of course make me stay. Start learn crypto 2016 and lost almost 40% from my money but I never give up, keep try to find the best strategy for me. I can't change my past but I'll never let me down in long term period.

I am still at high school at that time, I only spend my time for  study so I didn't access internet too much as like today. .  I spend my time for social media before and I am disappointed now, I will use my time to learn about cryptocurrency now so I will not late anymore. This is still the early stage of cryptocurrency adoption so I am still lucky to know about bitcoin now.

Once the market has just opened Crypto and there are very few altcoins. They think this is a fraudulent market and I have heard a lot about this. I personally am a student and I am very afraid of these things.
I was very scared of Bitcoin and strain off my access list. Now I feel regret for not being able to find out.

I wouldn't use the word late because that's what I'm also thinking before when bitcoin was less than $1,000. But just like my experience, you are never too late to know and start investing to cryptocurrencies.
If I already knew bitcoin way back then I will start my own initiative to mine or acquire it by buying while it was cheaper. Well I also heard about it before but it is just about my interest. I wasn't interested about it few years ago until I decided to break my curiosity.

I knew Bitcoin since 2010, a year after the said launch. But unluckily, I don't fully understand cryptocurrency that time. I even listened to my friend that Bitcoin is just scam coin in the internet. Besides, that time, I am only 16 years old.

I am only a kid back then, And computer units are rare in our place only the rich ones have. I joined cryptocurrency is because it has a high potential for helping my expenses, second is lots of technology is being launched here, and my course is computer related  so I want to learn more. Crypto at that time is not yet well known in my country. And the services offered by Crypto like BTC isn't also available in my country. So rather than trying something unknown and not having any profits at that time. Damn thats a really hard part of your crypto encounter mate ,i have know same person with your story a cousin of mine has been paid for his small computer works by his friend with 60 bitcoin wayback 2012 but didnt mind it and after a year he forgotten the key of the wallet he used to accept the bitcoin until he come to learn this community last 2016 and saw how much the value of each coins then

Yep. I never believed cryptocurrency will come and I never thought cryptocurrency would appear.
In 2009 I was a gamer who only playing games without looking for any information to earn money from cyberspace, moreover about cryptocurrency. Due I'm too lazy to search/find about it and probably at that time cryptocurrency isn't famed, not like now.
And why I joining in the world of cryptocurrency, because besides I can get money, I'm interested in learning about cryptocurrency and the technology behind it.

Honestly, i have no idea about cryptocurrency at all. Only early this january of 2018, out of curiousty i begun to asked a friend of mine who is into crypto also. From then on, i started doing my own research online to fully educate myself. Then i became interested with bitcoin and now, i believe for the big potential it has that can really change everyone’s future. Im a simple employed employee way back 2009. Better late than never, crypto is now the newest trending technology for this modern generation. Im glad i am now active in cryptocurrency.

There are two parts to your question. ok, the answer of the first part is that I have joined in the crypto market when I fully did research and satisfied to invest. The second answer is that I was not familiar with this market in 2009. Another thing is that if we knew what will be happened in the future surely, then everyone will be equal in financial condition.

Was in college in 2009, and was basically in debt with not much to spare on investing.  At the time, knew nothing about crypto and didn't even have money for investing in the stock market.

2009??Most of people don't know about crypto even now, in 2018. Cryptocurrencies is still a "dark horse" for for the majority, but I agree, who already joined crypto industry now is lucky and this is only the beginning.

Since BTC did not have any attention, back then people would rather not believe BTC was real or it was just a fake thing and a waste of time, one of the reason why people won't believe BTC is because people have no evidence that it is real, plus the internet was not yet strong enough at that time many third world countries were struggling and almost actually all countries do not have strong internet and most people do not have access to the internet since it is weak and the fact that people are not that yet familiar with the web and how it works.

As of 2009 when bitcoin first came, i was only a school boy and could not have done anything about it because as at that time, access to internet and mobile phones are very hard, these days access to these things are so easy. So i guess i join when i am supposed to join.

it wasn't that popular back then , only few websites cared enough to mention bitcoin and unless you are very eager about blockchain technology ,you won't have heard of it , but since 2014 when i first invested in bitcoin , i regret doing a lot of mistakes (like most of us ) ,but now i think i'm on right track.

2009? I think I'm on online typing jobs and some other thing that gives me extra income. Never heard of crypto before, until someone introduced me a gambling site that requires crypto to play. And few months after I dig deeper on what this thing bitcoin is and brings me to the thing called crypto. Curiosity gives me something called extra income. personally, I got to know cryptocurrency recently, so I haven't really felt the benefits of it. but I see that many people succeed after getting to know the world of cryptocurrency and that made me excited to learn it. because by studying cryptocurrency well then we will get many advantages from it.

I never heard about anything called cryptocurrency in 2019 and neither did i know of what was called bitcoin then. I think i was still in my village at that time. Although, if i had known, i might have also rubbished it, or if i was opportune to have some btc then, i might have sold them for pizza as well.

I was there, had some Bitcoins, but sold them off to buy a gaming computer. At that time I was super happy. Today I would have almost 1 million USD if I had hodled.
But well, you never know and people are normally greedy.

Let's say in 2009, I was naive, ignorant and skeptical about cryptocurrency.. I followed bitcoin for sometime without even trying to invest,  practically because I was of the mentality that it's probably a scam.. I'm a natural risk taker but I was really never attracted to cryptocurrency back then.. Sometimes I wish I had join back then because if I had, I'd probably have more than a million dollars now..  For me, it isn't too late though because I'm currently taking enough risks to cover up a little bit for loss time and build a strong financial future for myself.

I was not even aware of bitcoin in 2009. If i had the knowledge would i invest or not invest in the past i have no idea this subject. i think i wouldn't hold bitcoin from past until today.

This has to be my major regret as regards crytocurrency. I wasn't aware of it as at way back 2009, but I ot to know about it a few years after and I still waited until last year, before I partially joined. I really wish that I fully invested my time and money in it when I first about it, I would probably be a millionaire by now. In 2009 i was only a college boy who depends on his parents for everything so never heard of cryptos or so, i didn't know about cryptos until late 2016 that's when i first heard about crypto, I join the space fully early this year.

In the past, BTC was kind of "nerdy money" and wasn't taken seriously by anyone at all. As the time passed, it was spotted by more people (just like me- I was broke, so I gave it a shot ;D) and suddenly, we have reached the point when people can not ignore its positives. At the moment, it is just about delivering the product that would be able to make even the most common things in our lives more sophistically. This has to be the main goal of any company that is joining this space: working product will not only make crypto attractive and luxurious, but the founders will be probably very rich as well. There will be many obstacles ahead of everyone in this journey, but if developers will make it properly, they are making their chances of being at the top only higher. Small steps, sleepless nights, endless effort- but the reward will be worth it!

I first heard of bitcoin when it was accepted for online payments in certain places but I never knew anything about it other than it was digital money and I didn't really understand the difference. Then around 2012-2013 my close friend kept talking about it and I still didn't listen to him properly and now he has over 100 BTC and has probably lost more through trading than I could ever own at the current prices. I first heard of it during the FBI raid to that darkweb store that was selling drugs and other illegal stuff. Silkroads I believe the name was, and this was around 2013. But Unfortunately I wasn't really familiar with the whole concept of investing, so didn't really looked into it as something that could potentially make money. Or something that could rise in value. That lack of knowledge. I wish I knew.

Most users have never thought that bitcoin will grow to be very valuable including me. in 2009 I Was almost a kid, I never heard about bitcoin and that time I had no mobile phone. I heard about bitcoin on 2013, but I was confused about it, I was looking for more pieces of information, I asked my elder brothers, but they did not know too. Then One day one of a friend told me about this forum and then I came here! and i learned many things about the cryptocurrency, I left this forum for my study reasons and again I come back to this forum, and after then I started to earn money with the passion.

In 2009, I never heard about that cryptocurrency. Maybe because I'm busy with my job and have no time for something that is new and trending on the internet. 2009 still not know bitcoin. It is a kind of strange money. Actually that time is easy to mine btc and earn free btc from faucet. I heard bitcoin but was amazed by blogger earning using adsense and affiliate products. In fact when I practicef blogging My income is only 100 a year. Except 2009, due to the lack of communication resources, we were away from crypto till 2015. Only the metro and the big metro were the resources. Well, I got to know about it in 2016, but because of the unbelievable I could not do it. By the year 2018 I saw that those who were familiar to me were very beneficial, so I adopted it in May 2018. Now I am very impoverished and am happy too.

I don't know anything about crypto and bitcoin until early 2017 where i start reading about bitcoin. In 2009 even i don't know how to trade as i was still a college student. There's basically no news about crypto or bitcoin in my country until 2017 so it's not surprising that a lot of people start buying crypto that year.

I think there is no time to join the cryptocurrency world, I think the world of cryptocurrency will continue to grow in the future to make the latest financial innovations does not matter if you just joined in the crypto this year, because cryptocurrency gives us easy transactions and can get profits in this forum .

2009, my first year of working and discovering what the real world means. Haven't heard anything about cryptocurrency then. I learned the existence of crypyocurrency only last year 2017 and discovered how complex it is. I'm still surprised and learning everyday what crypto could give.

If everyone knew in 2009 about the growth of bitcoin and in General about him but he would not be so popular now !

I in 2009 did not understand about the world of investment let alone cryptocurrency. I think investing is so scary so there is absolutely no interest. but when my friend became rich because of bitcoin, it affected my mind. so I join in crypto.

I just knew cryptocurrency last year and got curious how someone earn from it. On 2009, we don't have enough internet connection at home and cryptocurrency is pretty rare to be heard of. Those early adopters from 2009 really are the luckiest guys on earth, specially those people who believed in crypto potential and holding those as of today. They are now millionaires for sure. I am still lucky somehow because i adopted cryptocurrency last year and already earned over $2000 so still not bad.

I guess a lot of people have thought, "If only I could have jumped into btc when it first came out, I could be a billionare!"
The truth is, blockchain was so remote and underground when it was released that only the most hardcore, bored, techies ever mined it.
On top of that it had absolutely no value for about a year and half and it wasn't until 2 years later that there was any kind of real exchanging going on.
The infamous BTC pizza purchase goes to show how people weren't very serious about it.
A guy offered 1500 btc for someone to get a pizza for him.

For those that are jumping now, it is very difficult time to be investing.
Not just because of the bear market, but because of the bubble economy surrounding crypto.
At the rate things are going, the market will bloat and explode with a vast majority of the projects going out of business.
For someone that has no investment experience, it would be very difficult to figure out which ones have long term value and which ones don't.

To be honest I didn't really believe in the success of cryptocurrencies a few years ago. It seemed to me that it is much more important to invest in real estate for example than into unclear financial assets.

We were around them but you cant compare the presence of people on internet by then to this current year, many dont use internet where they could  see information about bitcoin while no most believe it was scam.

In 2009, I did not even hear about cryptocurrencies and blockchain. Of course, looking back, I'm sorry that I did not buy Bitcoin in 2013, that's when I paid attention to him.

Yes, when in 2011 I learned about bitkoyn I did not believe in its growth and such progress.

We are still not far from the early adopters anyway as that would be glaring when we start reaching the growth phase, let alone the laggard phase. There is still chance for a whole lot of people and the same way some of us missed the chance back then in 09/10, and taking the opportunity now, some will definitely also be missing the chance now and later regretting it in the future. Maybe I should say the world is practically designed that way with some early to take risk, some joining in the middle, and some just watching events until they die poor.

yes, indeed sir, who would expect this market strategy would give a big impact in today's money transactions. for me as a newbie it has a big progress in the market industry.

to be honest on 2009 I still don't know anything about cryptoworld. I just focus my time for learning about Network Security. But all my journey start in 2013 when my friend tell me about Bitcoin.  then I follow the technology and the news about it. I still don't interested with them, until 2017. Blockchain was a new solution for us and this is will adopt with all of industry not just for cryptocurrency.

it seems to me that there are a lot of such examples, when people overlooked a chance to earn, it's like a lottery, I would have seen the future would know a winning ticket. but still if you look at the number of people interested in crypto, then we still have a chance to be among the founders.

I was in college and I have heard about it in 2009 from reddit if I am not wrong but I wasn't interested in it at the time because I did not know what I could do with it and saw it more like world of warcraft golds than real money.

Moreover, I did not consider the value behind it. I have joined in 2012-2013ish and even than I used it as a payment gateaway and just got paid and used that money in fiat. Never really even consider holding my coins until last year, I just spend what I get even if its 50 dollars or 5 thousand dollars, I am just like that. It results with horrible days in life like today but it also results in great days of life when you do crazy stuff.

Sure back in the days things were too underground for most people, but still now we're in the very infancy...the majority of the people ignore the basic principles and the potential of cryptos..

When many media talked about bitcoin and I started to understand bitcoin so I was interested and joined bitcoin. there is nothing wrong with anyone who just started joining bitcoin, while bitcoin still has value so lucky for those who want to join and understand bitcoin.

There are so many people who are investing in different crypto currencies now and the reason behind it is that they were either not aware of any of the crypto currency before or they were not having enough of the confidence over these crypto currencies at that time. However, things are changing and that people have started trusting crypto currencies and more people will invest in these currencies in near future.

When i heard about bitcoin ( the only cryptocurrency at that time ), i was ignoring it and not buying it at all.
i think most peoples did that too. If we could predict cryptocurrency will grow like this, we would buy it earlier.

Interesting question. But the fact is that in 2009 we were not aware of the existence of blockchain technologies and bitcoin. And now we are entering into crypto, because we understand the advantages of the entire cryptocurrency system and want to improve our financial situation a little.

I was way too stupid to not invest back then. I ideally should have done more research, and had I done that, I wouldn't have been here writing posts to make an extra buck or two.
I should have invested as much as I could in BTC. But it makes no point to cry over things that are long gone. I hope my investments in new alts turn out to be fruitful eventually. That's all I can hope for right now.

Back in 2009 i don't even know what cryptocurrency is, never heard of it. In 2015 i was held around 7 BTC from selling my games account, and then i just sell it because i needed money from that selling. You know i almost can't believe it in 2017 when i heard BTC was worth $8k - $9k , if only i knew  ;D

The title of this thread is quite funny. As at 2009, I wasn't ready for cryptocurrency and majority of my peers were ignorant of the existence of this industry. I sincerely wished, I joined earlier. Maybe I could have made more mistakes and gained more experience. I'm still pleased to be where I am, I've had a fair share of loses and gains, but I'm glad for every experience. Still hoping for better days ahead.

Depending on whether or not the crypto can run though been in conditions of high. Although current joining perhaps has it either due to many crypto support. When this can be patient and hold will certainly be able to give you a big profit in the long run.

since 2009-2011, bitcoin is not yet popular,  so some of us didnt know about it, this late 2015, i heard about bitcoin, at that time the price of bitcoin is almost $300-$400, i follow the history of bitcoin from how cheap it is until then, i decided to study and learn how to buy bitcoin but i only invest a few amount because of the volality, after a year it pumps again until 2017, and i realize that the price of it is getting more and i cannot afforrd to invest again. This is a tricky question. Unless you were an IT tech geek that is really really really into blockchain and cryptography specifically, there was no chance you know what Bitcoin is prior to 2010-2011. So, you can't expect people went it in 2009.

Bitcoin came across when it was 2012/13 and that time it isn't yet considered as legal because mostly it's reportedly being used for illegal transactions, That's why the people and medias aren't catching it.

In that year btc isn't yet that popular to notice and there be other trends in 2009. Also media companies in 2009 took advantage of advertising different projects, not the bitcoin or blockchain technology.

OP please don't act like that, that was the time when people even don't had access on computers and internet in some countries, believe me. There were only some people who knew about it and some accidentally discovered it. There weren't massive advertisements or published news about this currency in newspapers or online websites so I hardly imagine I would get dream about bitcoin. We can't change what was in past but we still have chances and some new coins are hope. Look ripple and other coins, they almost got as great boost as bitcoin got once, so it's not an end.

Way back 2009, I graduated in High School. I was not aware that crytocurreny exist because by that time, I am not a person who loves using a computer and internet. Sometimes, I want to go back to 2009 to 2012 when the bitcoin price is too low, almost 1-digit. I may have earn so many bitcoin that time and hold it until 2017 when bitcoin reached $19,000 each. I could be a millionaire that time.

To be honest I do not know, I remember reading papers of some people that were interested in cryptography and they were predicting that something like bitcoin will exist, even if they did not knew how to solve some of the issues or they could have created bitcoin themselves but at some point I became interested in something else and lost track of that and I did not realized until much later that their predictions had become true.

I am sure many of us regret not entering before, even when they have never had a chance in the past. And that's what we see today, that Bitcoin and crypto have grown to this day. But if we look more closely, many cycles and fluctuations are more or less the same as what we experience today. So keep believing, and let's build crypto bigger.

Im only 11 years old that time and all i wanted to do is to play around with my friends during that time. Technologies that time maybe i have idea what about on that but i think just a little bit. We cannot afford gadgets, devices or whatever about technologies that can be use in cryptocurrency that time. I was busy back then doing a normal day job and it was my Wife who first found out about Bitcoin. I have a deep regret for not telling her to buy up a few hundred Bitcoin when they were only just over a dollar. I think if we would have done that by now we would have had a very different life indeed and we could have helped so many people. I am happy though the early adopters got their prizes. I just hope it is not too late for us to be a part of this success story. Our portfolio has dwindled terribly in 2018 and it has been a disaster for us this year.

One of my friend came in cryptos in early 2011. he invested in BTC then, but he sold most of his holdings at mere 200% profit. Through him I came to know about cryptos in late 2013, but never became active until 2015. So, it doesn't really matter when you entered the market. No one in 2009 knew that BTC will go this big. In 2014, during major crash, most of the people sold their holdings. Everyone has his/her risk appetite and they trade accordingly. It isn't necessary that people who bought in 2009 were anyway willing to hold till now and didn't sell at 2x, 5x or 10x.

First of all I have lerned about the crypto in 2016 only and first I knew about it I did not believe in it, it was a bit strange to me - digital coins, bitcoin and so on, something from space. After that I lerned about it more, registered here on the Bitcointalk forum, learned lots of interesting about it, saw the real opportunities. Now I believe in it. I am not aware of Bitcoin during the year of 2009, I was very busy at work to make the company richer. I don't have time to look for my own financial status , I was busy looking the financial status the company I worked with. I stumble Bitcoin on 2015 and purchased my first BTC at 200 usd, so sad it was the dark days where HYIP flourished I've invested it all in HYIP, of course I loss. It was only 2017, that I started to focus on crypto and good thing I recoup those loss.

Previously , if I saw the cryptocurrency , I would not believe, and now I understand that this is the technology of the future and I want to be in this area.

I think to be quite honest, a lot of us were uninformed about cryptocurrencu. Some of us barely knew anything about fintech and related matters. So I think that's enough excuse. There are so many people that are yet to be informed about cryptocurrency still, and the issue of doubt is still one that we cannot overlook.
