Anyone knows why bitcoin is going up and the alts are going down? Usually they go together. Progress in the LN tests perhaps?

They don't always go together. Sometimes money flows to Bitcoin out of alts, sometimes money flows into alts out of bitcoin, sometimes money just flows in to everything or out of everything.

Right now money is going into Bitcoin because there is more and more talk from institutional investors about getting in fairly soon and there is another chance at Wall St's first Bitcoin ETF getting approval next month. There is also a growing thought that the bears have finally been beat and we could be at the very start of the next bull market, which means smart money is getting in this summer in order to make loads of money the next year or two. ETFs alone over the next bull run of let's say two years could be worth tens of thousands of dollars added onto Bitcoin's price.

There was a Youtube video from Paul James,regarding cryptocurrencies and when to buy them.I can`t find it right now,but the main point was to buy bitcoin or ethereum right before a major event (ETF approval,big crypto conference,major Hard fork).Such events create a lot of buzz around crypto and lots of trader buy,because they expect the prices to skyrocket after that event.This create FOMO and a showball effect.
I quess this is happening right now with bitcoin.

I doubt lightning network solely is responsible for the actual price rise, in my opinion it is related to many parameters. The first one is ETF approval, the second one is rich people are more and more interested in joining Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the mother of all alts, you cannot see any single alt that rise on its own. It will always pump whenever BTC is up. Some alts are also going down even BTC is going up. So better to split your investment funds into half. A half into BTC and a half to play with your selected Alt.
