I was watching world strongest man competition 2018, and there was this "Bullion toss" contest

Those huge men were throwing/tossing 20 kg to 30kg Gold bars 15 feet high. They were solid gold bars or iron bars plated with Gold ??

Unfortunately for us,was just iron gold.It is also an entertaining show so it is cooler to say they are gold bars.Btw, my favourite competition was in 2002 when a black man won the competition. That man was a wrestler in WWE Mark Henry.

It was iron bars covered with gold. Because gold bars are very expensive, and each bar needs a spare bar, because it can get lost., break and so on

I'd say more of lead-gold. Lead is heavier than iron, and close to heavy as gold.
30kg gold bar would be around 1.5 millions USD worth. I doubt they'd let some bafoon throw it around

Definitely not solid gold bars. Gold plated maybe.

This is truly incredible to believe It can never be a gold bar Gold bars are not hard they are a bit soft. Gold plated is almost as soft and light as gold  The men who threw in the competition are usually iron bars. The iron bars are the most powerful So much gold No one will ever throw away such expensive things.

i have checked the event now and it seems that it is only coated with gold because i don't think they will just risk that amount of gold in just competition.

but yeah the competition is very tough and love watching this.

No one in their right mind would spend such a huge amount of gold on creating props for not very rated shows. At best, it's gilded metal. And, perhaps, completely painted in gold color.

Gold is very expensive Never throw away such expensive things It will usually be iron Because the metallic currency is not too strong. Iron is much harder and heavier. Gold plated over iron As if no one could easily understand.

It would be very silly if someone were throwing 20kg and 30kg Gold bars from a 15ft high.
No competition would have such money to spend in order to make a show like that.
It would be iron bars covered with gold.

Why do they need to use a Real Gold just for entertaining ? the gold might damage and there are particles that will be less on the bars.

Those are a metal quoted Gold to attract viewers and for more Good looking but surely it is a metal and not a gold.

Plus whichever insurance agency was covering the event would never in a million years have agreed to allow $1.7m gold bars on the premises.
