Title: Bitcoin price and altcoin price
Post by: rash123 on July 25, 2018, 05:01:26 AM
These days bitcoin price is increasing. Now btc price is around 8400$. But altcoin prices are not increasing. Is not altcoin price depend on the btc price?

Altcoin price is paired with Bitcoins but not necessary depending on bitcoins. Most altcoin prices are determined by the demand and supply of the product and services they stand for and might not have anything in common with the price of bitcoin.

I think bitcoin prices do have an effect on altcoin prices, but the real thing that determines those prices is the coin holders themselves.

I think this is the beginning of a bull market,If you look closely at the historical K diagram, you will find that when the real bull market comes, bitcoin will rise first, while altcoin will rise later.

no they have never depended on bitcoin price.

unfortunately this year as the altcoin dumps coincided with bitcoin price drop people started thinking that altcoins must follow bitcoin everywhere but the truth is altcoins only follow the drop other than that they are only moving based on their own pump and dumps.

and right now because altcoins have been severely pumped they are continuing their dumping period until they reach a reasonable price (aka bottom) and get ready to get pumped a gain and that can take a couple of months.

It is not like every altcoin is related with the price pumps and dumps but as the market of BTC is recovering many popular altcoins like ETH are also experiencing a growth in the value. This does not imply that every time bitcoin will raise the prices of altcoins will also it takes time of the effect to show on the exchange but it affects very crypto in the market.

Its biggest misconception that both of them are dependent over each other. They always had either indirect proportional growth to each other or no relation at all. I am mentioning indirect because most of the time it happens that whenever bitcoin goes up then altcoins either go down or halt their progress. There is simple reason behind that, "sell off for btc from alts!" People often do it so that they can get into BTC and try to profit their. Eventually this calls for the dropped values in the altcoins. I hope that simply explains your question.

It could also be that alt holders are liquidating to btc. I dont think there's indication that new money is entering the market.

Just think this way, if all crypto-enthusiast will be using altcoins to buy Bitcoin continuously, altcoin will slightly move down or at least stay on a current state and Bitcoin will move up, and vice-versa. After Bitcoin's rally, some investor will now use Bitcoin to buy some altcoin.

Still, just my own opinion.

I think the price of the altcoin is still dependent on Bitcoin prices, but the market trend has changed completely in July, when Bitcoin prices increase, the price of altcoin will also increase. But now Bitcoin prices are rising and altcoin prices are fall

In the previous months, for every btc increase, altcoins continued to follow btc to increase however this time it is very much different since the increase in btc has not affected the price of altcoins. In my views, ma ny people preferred to hold their altcoins and some perhaps were being sold in effect there is more supply in altcoins with less demand. People are now shifting to buy btc since it is now increasing progressively in which case, more profit is expected to earn once invested in btc.

In my opinion its because of the ETF that is being presented in the Congress thats why people are speculating that it might get approved thus demand is increasing for bitcoin while altcoins are not included in the ETF.

When bitcoin price increase altcoins price do increase however they are time when bitcoin do keep them behind especially when dollars are flowing into cryptocurrencies market.  Therefore , we are going to see the multiplier infect very soon and fund are going to flow from bitcoin to altcoins market.

They don't always move together. Sometimes they do, which can be a sign that new money is flooding into all areas of the market, or it can just be a consequence of BTC trading pairs - i.e., if a coin is trading at 0.1 BTC, and the BTC dollar price increases, then it is likely that coin will still trade at 0.1 BTC, so effectively its dollar price also increase.

Sometimes BTC goes up and alts go down... which means there is a lot of people buying BTC and a lot of people selling alts - so generally these will be the same people, i.e. they are selling their alts for BTC. This sometimes happens at the start of a bull run, with BTC leading the way, and later on when BTC stops increasing people sell BTC and buy back alts, causing alt prices to rise.

no, that is a very common mistake that people make mainly because during bitcoin drops all the altcoins without any hesitations drop too. but the thing is the relationship is not there! the altcoins also drop when bitcoin rises so you can't really make up any rules for that.

this is why i always suggest that newcomers first spend a lot of time analyzing the history of at least 2 years before starting to jump in the market and invest.
you first need to know these patterns and relationships so that you can make better decisions. for example knowing altcoins will drop during bitcoin rises you sell your altcoins as soon as you see bitcoin rally starting up to prevent your loss.

They are paired with bitcoin but it doesn't mean that it will depend on the price of it.

I saw some news last week maybe that there are some new money coming from investors and they are investing in BTC and there is no money that has been invested into altcoins and this is the reason why alts are not increasing. Maybe this is true or some will say it is not.

Yes, altcoin price depends on the price of bitcoin and presently the price of bitcoin is recovering and altcoin are still down but I think this is because there is more demand for bitcoin lately than altcoin but I believe when the market recover from the bear, the price of altcoin will also begin to show positive increase.

Sure thing. Altcoin pricese are dependent to bitcoin price. If bitcoin increase or decrease fast, altcoins can't respond to that and become red. Bitcoin price should be stable to make alts become green.

I doubt there are any investors right now (they could easily get in at $6k), the main reason might be the FOMO before the ETF announcement in August. Bagholders dumping their alt's for BTC. Community always has high expectations for events like these, I would not be surprised to see a major dump closer to these dates.

if you have about 10 Ethereum, then in fundamentally there is a lot of good news about bitcoin,,
also in technically bitcoin price already give us a sign, if the price already break the strong resistant,,
what will you do ? you will hold your ethereum or convert it to bitcoin as soon as possible,, right?
for me i will convert my eth to bitcoin,,
so, this is why when bitcoin price increasing, the value from altcoins will decreasing

If bitcoin will stabilize at a certain level, investors will start buying altcoins to get profit. Even though this is only a common scenario but this will also depend on the altcoin community and products. This can happen if people will sell there altcoin and rise with the bitcoin price rally.

actually not entirely altcoin prices were boosted on bitcoin prices. because the bitcoin stands alone, and whereas altcoin is an alternative coin-coin made by companies. so the price is different does not match.

This is a good thing for altcoins too for not being dependent too much to bitcoin since they can make their own progress by their current events and roadmaps. We must erase the mindset that altcoins are dependent to bitcoin since the price is affected by the demand and supply of the coin.

Actually the thing is, altcoins do follow Bitcoin price trajectory. But when Bitcoin gets a bit stable after a rally. So, Bitcoin gets stable at any price point and gets into sideways trends, altcoins will too follow BTC price action that is they shoot up too. But if Bitcoin before that went a dump, then it would be tough to say that alts will go up. They most probably either remain at their present price point or will go a small dump.

Your opinion is entirely unreasonable. If the altcoins rate depends on bitcoin when the exchange rate of the BTC increase then altcoins also have to increase. In fact, conversely, the exchange rate of BTC increased while the altcoins decreased. This clearly explains that the amount of investment is only concentrated in the BTC or altcoins at the same time, meaning that if the amount invested in the BTC is high, then the BTC rate will increase and the ETH will decrease.

Yes, In my opinion, the altcoin value and bitcoin have dependencies. But this time, I can not explain the support of investors and their interest in ETH. The ETH value has dropped to $ 400-500 for nearly a month. It is worth mentioning, ETH price difference in this change extremely modest. Have I ignored any information?

Now on the market we see how bitcoin is speculatively pumped up, because the altcoyins are standing still. I think in the near future we will see the drop of bitcoin to the level of 6000 dollars. The fall of bitcoin does not pull the even greater fall of the altcoyans. The next stage will be the rise of the whole market. I recall that this is purely my opinion.

Altcoin price is paired with Bitcoins but not necessary depending on bitcoins. Most altcoin prices are determined by the demand and supply of the product and services they stand for and might not have anything in common with the price of bitcoin.

To be honest, I think it's not determined by the services it provides. There are still tons of projects that have nothing to serve and buying by people in the market. :D

First of all, this is the phase with the most declines since the beginning of pump 1. There are now six series of candle drops and the 7th candle is coming. This is also the phase of correction down the deepest compared with the decline phase. before.
The volume increase has a decrease volume, while the decrease b volume has increased ==> weak buying and strong selling force. The trend is still bullish, so the priority is still buying. However, temporarily not expecting to pump as strong as the previous batch

Most of altcoin are affected by the volatility of the market and the value of Bitcoin. Currently most of the altcoin is reduced dramatically due to the amount of money being withdrawn from altcoin being put into Bitcoin. I believe that the uptrend is coming back and the market will recover in the later months of this year.

We look at it with absolute certainty, but it is clear that there is a clear distinction between the pricing method and the target investor size between the two studies. We will see if this SEC is enough to persuade it, but it is gratifying that the second half of the market did not make this division and come back to the 8200.

No, altcoin has no dependence on Bitcoin but price movements can affect each other and their effects may vary with each altcoin, as it requires purchasing a coin using Bitcoin for example. Regardless of how dependent an asset to anything else, the value of each asset is based on supply and demand

Obviously altcoin prices depend on the price of bitcoin. Look. market capitalization has not increased sharply. But the bitcoin price increased to $ 8300. And the entire altcoin goes down. We can see the capitalization of altcoin has moved to bitcoin

Well the thing is up until now alt coins prices were largely tracking btc. But the extremely quick and large move over the last few days has meant that cor relation seems to have broken as of now.
In general these things always go in cycles when you will have a period where BTC goes crazy and alts go into oblivion the 8k to 20k move at the end of december followed by an altcoin spring from December to January.

Here is the basic principle though :

BTC goes up - ALts go Down
BTC goes Down- Alts go Down
BTC goes Sideways - Alts go Up

If you want to grab some big money, just take advantage of Bitcoin because only Bitcoin is as powerful as a global virus that creates fomo psychology. When the capital is large, Altcoin is strong. This is evidence from 2013 up to now.

if I do not think bitcoin prices can be used as a benchmark for altcoin price increases, sometimes it can happen, when bitcoin moves down the price will be followed by other altcoin, but what happens now the price of bitcoin is not followed by other altcoin, so we can not making bitcoin a benchmark for the rising altcoin prices.

But now it's the opposite because only bitcoins increase and altcoin is decreasing. I think we can not say anything in this market because anything can happen but if you have good psychology then you will win in any investment. The best advice at this time is to invest 70% in Bitcoin and 30% to invest in ICO or Altcoin projects.

Well Lesson number 1, not all altcoins moves along with bitcoin in other words all altcoins do not depend on the crypocurrencies, also know the king and the mother coin bitcoin.

Each coins moves because of the possible reason.

1. Yes sometimes it depends on the bitcoin.
2. each altcoin is dependent that do not depend on bitcoin which the market for one specific altcoin is different.
3. Each altcoin has different movement and value so here comes the supply and demand to market of cryptocurrency(not just in the fiat).
4. Each Altcoin has different holders that they decide to hold it(HODL), sell, buy or do an everyday trade.
5. Some has a belief that this specific altoin can be no more so they withdraw they investment on the altcoin.

(This ideas are from the past article and threads that I read and some are ideas that I learned from school because really, if you study a little about the market flow in the real world you can apply it in cryptocurrency)

I know this is short but this would be helpful. Also for better understanding why each altcoin do not follow bitcoin something each person or company manipulates one specific altcoin.

We cant feel it directly, it takes time for that and we all notice that our market is moving.  We've been only focus on btc price as the highlights of crypto market and we have neglect altcoins trend.  Truly isn't that huge impact into altcoins today but later on,  we all have noticed it.

These days bitcoin price is increasing. Now btc price is around 8400$. But altcoin prices are not increasing. Is not altcoin price depend on the btc price?
We cant feel it directly, it takes time for that and we all notice that our market is moving.  We've been only focus on btc price as the highlights of crypto market and we have neglect altcoins trend.  Truly isn't that huge impact into altcoins today but later on,  we all have noticed it.
in any case, the correlation of the Bitcoin price to the entire crypto currency exists. Even today, you can see that in the last 2 weeks Bitcoin has risen by 6%. At the same time, some coins showed a very positive rise from the bottom, while demonstrating a 15 or 25% increase.

I think we are experiencing a selective bullish,  which only carries a few coins. I believe if the pump continues and BTC can get to over $10000, the growth would spread to other currencies.

Anyone who has the altcoin in their portfolio knows that when Bitcoin prices drop, the rest of the money market will slip sharply. Similarly, when Bitcoin grows back, the altcoin tends to perform better.

XRP is an example. However, the success of the ripple on the market is thought to be unrelated to its advancements behind the scenes, and it is thought that the reason is largely due to Bitcoin's market dominance.

XRP was one of the worst performers in the electronic money market this year, losing about 70% of its value in the first quarter. At the same time, Bitcoin is also among those who lose more than 50% of their value, making the total e-money market cap decline

It is true that the price of Bitcoin has being experiencing an upward surge but the altcoins remain sluggish. The price of altcoins are influenced by the price of Bitcoin but not completely dependent on it. While bitcoin has been rising there are a few altcoins that have also experienced the upsurge.

In most cases, the altcoins track bitcoin in terms of price. A big spike to the upside or downside in bitcoin usually means a big spike or downward move for the altcoins, too. However, from what I've noticed, when BTC is unusually strong, then no matter which way you look at it, the alts are in for a rough time.

no, that is a very common mistake that people make mainly because during bitcoin drops all the altcoins without any hesitations drop too. but the thing is the relationship is not there! the altcoins also drop when bitcoin rises so you can't really make up any rules for that.

this is why i always suggest that newcomers first spend a lot of time analyzing the history of at least 2 years before starting to jump in the market and invest.
you first need to know these patterns and relationships so that you can make better decisions. for example knowing altcoins will drop during bitcoin rises you sell your altcoins as soon as you see bitcoin rally starting up to prevent your loss.

Very much agree it's need proper time in knowing the pattern of its movement, relationships between BTC and altcoin need to be observed properly before jumping into conclusions as a neophyte it's take time before participating the trading market its required more expertise and exposure in order to gain more profits not losses.

Probably for the altcoins when bitcoin finally finds the up trend in the short term and able to find a good support to hold on for those moment while giving some upper and sideways consolidation. At this time, altcoins are surely bound to pick up pretty fast which could result in a bull market for the alts, but at the same time, I would be very careful in picking profit fast from altcoins because as soon as the bear trend starts, it is normal to see the altcoins taking the hit once again.

Bitcoin and altcoins are trading in indirect proportional which is possible only when the money flow is coming out and entering into another. When money flow is happening to both of them then we can see  direct proportional movements. It is time to hold altcoins and to buy more bitcoins.

The whole altcoin thing depends on the price of Bitcoin. As the bitcoin goes up, the entire altcoin will go down. That rule. As altcoin increases, the bitcoin price will not increase. Because they are moving money from bitcoin to altcoin

Usually, altcoins grow when bitcoin's price is stable. So no surprise almost all of them are red nowadays.

I think the price of the altcoin is still dependent on Bitcoin prices, but the market trend has changed completely in July, when Bitcoin prices increase, the price of altcoin will also increase. But now Bitcoin prices are rising and altcoin prices are fall
which I see both are still not up and same in growth and now you better hold your altcoin until it stabilizes and can be beneficial again because it was a few months ago Bitcoin price has not come back and made altcoin price decreased following the movement

Altcoins will have its own time. Usually, when bitcoin price goes up, the altcoins would follow suit afterwards when bitcoin is in a consolidation because the attention of the traders would be in altcoins then since bitcoin is not moving that much. You can have patience and wait for a while. You can accumulate some altcoins when it is cheaper because sooner or later, it would increase and its percentage increase would be higher than bitcoin especially if the coin has good fundamentals.

as far as I know the altcoin price depends on the bitcoin price. but the altcoin price is not entirely dependent on bitcoin prices. because the price is looking at all the situations and conditions that have occurred in the environment. if the bitcoin enthusiasts are plenty and bitcoin is a bit, then auto bitcoin and altcoin prices are different

There is no such relationship between Bitcoin and altcoins with regards to the price increase in both parties, sometimes other altcoins, not performing well in the market as well as Bitcoin too, but mostly only those top listed coins apparently follow the movement of Bitcoin, the rest is the depending on the demand in the market.

but when the bitcoin price is stable precisely altcoin prices are also stable. sometimes the price of ethereum follows the bitcoin price, if the bitcoin price falls, the altcoin price falls, if the bitcoin price is stable the altcoin price falls, and if the bitcoin price increases the altcoin price increases, but for a long time

Your thought is perfectly matched in all the scenario But Bitcoin is depends on the demand of Bitcoin only so altcoins price is not impact of Bitcoin. But all the time peoples are concentrate in Bitcoin only so once it will down all the investors are drop the investment. It is the real reason of crypto price.

yes, there are so many people who have made bitcoin a benchmark for the ups and downs of other altcoin prices, sometimes at the same time when bitcoin increases will be followed by other altcoins, but that is uncertain, because bitcoin and other altcoins for me are created and created by itself, so we can not make bitcoin as a benchmark for the rise and fall of other altcoin prices.

But at this point you have seen, despite the BTC rising, but ETH and other coin drops, I think altcoin is no longer dependent on BTC anymore but they are dependent on ETH. That is why investors are now investing heavily in BTC.

Because investors start to buy bitcoin instead of another altcoin. Bitcoin is still dominator. It moves up, not every altcoin follows. But if bitcoin falls, 95% of altcoins fall.

All altcoin conditioning depends on bitcoin. There are a few altcoins that only depend very little on bitcoin. But generally Bitcoin controls this market. The higher the bitcoin, the more likely the whole altcoin will go down. Altcoin only increases as capital inflows from bitcoin or bitcoin prices can not continue to increase. In the future I think the price of altcoin will increase again. I have seen the funding of the MOF is gradually moving to altcoin

No, they do not depend on the price of bitcoin.
But you can monitor the trend, when bitcoin begins to grow and capitalization increases, then more people enter the market and the prices for altcoins will also grow.

To be fair, BTC prices are a key coin, they decide on the price of the other altcoin, and the market trend is always in the trend of BTC.

Bitcoin and altcoin affect each other but affect indirectly, or even unrelated and no influence altogether because many coins have left Bitcoin as a method of payment but it’s different if they dump their coins to buy Bitcoin when it’s in a bullish rally.

Whether you agree or not, Bitcoin indirectly affects the price movement of altcoin, whether it has a major impact or not. Which need to be underlined here is it doesn’t mean altcoin depend on Bitcoin, (https://www.yubster.com/)    it affects each other directly or indirectly.

You are right in saying altcoins price depend a lot on bitcoin and the fact that the coin rose that period without a corresponding rise with many of the altcoins can be unsettling. You should understand that the rise was minimal and short-lived as market indicators remained weak, so the altcoins could not have been impacted that much. A real rise Will carry most altcoins along as it will be the issue of the whole market recovering.

This could happen if people will sell there altcoin and ride with the price rally of bitcoin. If bitcoin will stabilize in a certain level, investors will start buying altcoin to get profits. Although this is only a common scenario but this will also depends on the community of altcoin and the product.
