Title: Scam Alert: EosGas Airdrop
Post by: onyebuchi81 on July 26, 2018, 03:38:51 PM
This is a public  service announcement. For all those btctalk members who registered for the eosgas airdrop please beware it's a scam. They are sending emails for u to complete KYC before receiving the airdrop tokens but the KYC link  lead to a phising MEW site. Please be careful or u might end up instead airdroping ur erc-20 tokens to them

onyebuchi81, thank you so much for the warning. Helping friends is very good. Personally, I never participate in the KYC procedure and I advise everyone to do so. You can't give out personal information, it's dangerous!

I think this is too simple a fraud and very few people will be deceived. The crypto community grows up and becomes smarter and more cautious, many times have deceived everyone and people learn from their mistakes. Be careful and think before you tell your key somewhere!

air drops are often a scam, there are some frequent cases on air drops via gmail posts, most often they do not pay just looking for the community to increase the price of tokens

The first sign that something strange is going on is that the KYC page only asks you for your Name, Email and wallet address and nothing more.

And when you click the link to verify, the fake MEW looking page shows up.

It's worrying that their pinned airdrop tweet has more than 23k retweets at the moment.

And now they are sending emails about their wallet release, trying to convince you to download a wallet. Never download anything from any airdrop.

Thanks you for informing the community about this scam, this is one of the reasons i have said in the past that i am no longer participating in any form of airdrop what so ever, I have had this kind of experience in the past, after completing the airdrop they will send you mail with a link to login into your wallet to claim the airdrop tokens.
