does this have anything to do with the DDOS attacks been going on lately to block chain?

You can always check https://blockchain.info/ to see the latest blocks. Generally if you put enough fee it will be included in the first next block.

On https://blockchain.info/stats there are also some statistics of the last 24h. It says: Time Between Blocks: 8.23 (minutes) which seems like a normal average.

If you normally get a confirmation in seconds, you were most likely lucky.

usually takes a "few seconds" to get 3 confirms................................ not on this planet. you must be used to a different altcoin.

3 confirms are usually half an hour or a few hours if you didnt pay a fee. but as soon as you get that first confirm its 20 minutes or less to get the other 2

0/3 what? Are you speaking about bitcoin? If it is bitcoin, then you should pay a fee and on average it takes ten minutes, the time for a block to be found by the miners.

There have been no ddos attack on the bitcoin network, only on services, exchanges and websites but not the bitcoin network itself, wich is p2p and thus decentralized.

If blocks are found in succession by the same pool seconds apart, these is a possibility of get 3 confirmations in "seconds".
They do happen, but rarely.

not really, after you have sent a transaction there is no way to influence it

your transaction will be processed faster if the fee is larger, the lower the fee the slower the processing, it's as simple as that :)

If you are willing to post the transaction ID, we might be able to take a look and let you know if there is a particular reason that the transaction is taking longer than usual.
