how should I start and should invest in Bitcoin or another coin.
You can always use some of the well known/trusted exchanges (always search in forum) or something like localbitcoins (https://localbitcoins.com/) but prior to those, I suggest to learn how you can keep those funds safe.

What do you want out of your investment? Long term growth? Short term?

I'm oversimplifying things here, but if you're going for a long term investment, Bitcoin would be the way to go. If you want ti multiply your money quickly, you should look into some relatively new alts which have better short term potential than Bitcoin.

But yeah you should start with the fundamentals first. This isn't like the stock market where you could sign up for a brokerage service and be done with it. Cryptocurrency exchanges generally work the same way as them, but they're quite notorious for not being very secure. Make sure you do research into what you're putting money in. You can always ask questions here if the search function isn't being helpful.

The service you use to buy bitcoin depends on what country you're in. I would suggest that you go with Coinbase[1], Abra[2], or LocalBitcoins[3], depending on which ones supports your country. After purchasing bitcoin, you can now trade them for other cryptocurrencies if you want to. I would suggest using Binance[4] as it supports a good number of coins and tokens.

Which should you invest on? I'm afraid this is completely up to you. Do your research, then decide for yourself.

If I don’t have too much money on hand, instead of investing in bitcoin, I would choose to invest in some newly launched altcoins which have special features but with low market capital, because the price of those coins has higher chance of being increased by several times.

I think do not play in Bit*oin first, if only have a little money because if you play in bitcoin means with little money you can only play long term (no question about that
^^). It would be better to play on other coins like Rippl*, stella* and others that you think is good for the short and long term.  ;D ;D ;D

You can buy some tokens from your fiat on exchanges. After that you can start trading, but need to create BTC and ETH wallets

usually i use http://hitbtc.com (http://hitbtc.com) for bitcoin exchange.
they also approve credit card for buying bitcoin, but personally i hadn't try credit card before for buying bitcoin.

for starting, i advice you to start with bitcoin only, and later when you understand how virtual currency (crypto currency) works, you can then invest with other altcoins.

good luck in your starting!

It depends on how small the amount is, what kind of trader you are and if you are willing to take high or low risk.
If you are just starting I would suggest to split your pot three-ways.
One part you should invest in long term, more secure coins (like Bitcoin)
One part you should invest in top 20 coins / tokens
And the last part I would invest in new tokens that look promising.

This way you 'secure' some of your money and you use the rest to find out what kind of trader you are.
It seems a little overdone, but you first need to find out if you trade rational and disciplined or that you tend to react emotional.

Invest on true coins at least top 10 on coinmarketcap (https://coinmarketcap.com/) and try to join some bounty (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0) so you can have initial investment to buy more coins.

Get yourself registered in an exchange and check from there. Your 'very small amount' also matters, considering that buying bitcoin from an exchange and transferring it to a crypto-exchange requires fees to do the transfers. It might be not worthwhile to invest it or buy immediately but considering that you already read things about how it works, a small play money won't hurt to test the actual market. Remember though, there's a high possibility that you'll be throwing your money down the drain so always be ready for that certain scenario.

OP, I don't like to give financial advices, (especially in crypto market). I don't want to be responsi le if you will lose money. You should decide yourself. You should make research before investing and don't blindly believe what various influencers are suggesting. I don't know how much money exactly you have, but it's always a good idea to diversify investments to minimize potential loses.
Join social media campaign for now and join few airdrops to have awards that later on you can use to add in on your investment... good luck.
C'mon dude, OP aren't looking for ways how to earn money, he is asking about investing in crypto.

You can purchase bitcoin from fiat like coinbase (https://www.coinbase.com/), cex (https://cex.io/), localbitcoins (https://localbitcoins.com/) sites. After that, you can keep your bitcoin in a good wallet or you can move to good exchange like binance (https://www.binance.com) and trade with altcoins.

Reasonable solution while i was on your spot... get a job.
Eat garbage food, sleep in cheat motels, save all money you got. Then you have every month serious money to put in crypto.

With bigger investment its possible to achieve bigger returns. So only you decide how motivated are you.
I would stick on bitcoin, its sure bet instead of almost any other crypto.

If you want for long term investment, i suggest you invest in Bitcoin, but if you want short term investment i suggest you to look for another alt coin.
because Bitcoin more stable and safer for long term investment, but maybe with small amounts of money then the profits in Bitcoin will also be smaller than if you invest in alt coin.

Use that money to buy a coin of great potential but the value is not as big as bitcoin. Try to buy and sell that coin and you will have more experience.

If you have a big capital then you should go on bitcoin, but if you have small capital then i prefer you alt coin.
Because if you just have small capital and invest in bitcoin, the result will not significant because the price of bitcoin is already high, so maybe you can go with altcoin first.

Even talking about investing in almost shitcoins (alts here) is foolish while watching Bitcoins growing atm, and knowing that ETF is sitting ahead to be approved. Instead of waiting, get into Bitcoins asap. For reasons on why you should not buy alts currently, why they are bleeding and what might happen once ETF gets approved (a sure-shot hyper bull run), please check my thread here:

It is good to know that you have done your research because that is where I would have referred you to. Honestly, I would have simply asked you to invest part of your money to Bitcoin and the rest into a startup that is already listed on the exchange and doing well. But since your money is small, simply go for a startup.

If you dont have a lot of money to invest, you can earn bitcoin, if you can offer a product or service (e.g. programming, writing, graphics design, marketing).

There are bounty topics  where you can earn altcoins with social media posts, blog articles or youtube videos. Then you can sell the altcoins for bitcoin.

Check Marketplace -> Services and Altcoin -> Bounties for this.

Well if you want to start with a small ammount of money, you probably want to take some risks. Yes, you can invest in bitcoin and as you probably know, the price in the next mounths will still like it is now or maybe a little more.  I would invest in an altcoin, I would take a New one with a lot of future. Good luck.

I also have small amount of money to invest every month.
If you have time, definitely join some airdrops and bounty campaigns.
And personally, I regret not owning just bitcoin in the beginning. If you don't have plans to become a day trader I think it's easier to own just some fraction of BTC and in the meantime you can learn, observe market cycles.
The fastest way to earn more BTC (or FIAT) would be through some lowcaps or microcaps (altcoins) but for that you have to do some research on your own. I'd always reccommend Nik Patel's "An Altcoin Trader's Handbook" for learning about that.
Good luck!

If you want to earn profit from the speculation market then you can go with the long-term and you will see exponential growth in your initial capital after 5 to 10 years from now if things work out as per the expectations. However, I would suggest you invest your time in learning and understanding crypto industry before investing your money. I believe that amount doesn't matter as per as you have the right approach with your investment strategies.

Hey, Congratulations.
You took a great decision. Yes you can invest different cryto currencies via your small amount of  money. But you should learn enough about market so you must should market analysis. Never buy crypto on his peak point. Wait and when price fall down buy and sell a higher profit.

I think you should invest for long term.It is more benefited than short term investment.

By the way. That small amount of money helped me immensely and protected me from stupid rookie mistakes.
I'm sure that otherwise I would definitely invest all of my savings in BTC, while it was on top. Because of fomo. As a rookie, you will definitely experience fear of missing out and yes, you will sometimes trade accordingly to your emotions.
This way, as I said, you can learn from your mistakes. Observe the volatility, learn the cycles, next time/next month you'll be maybe able to buy your coins during the dip. ;)

Considering that you are keen to Crypto space, you need to cover a range of supported areas of Crypto world like Crypto Wallets & Exchanges, The procedure of buying & selling a crypto asset, using wallets, Doing transactions from your personal wallets, Market Trend & News, A fair knowledge of Technical analyzing skills, ETC. Do not expect quick profits. Learning is very important. That is where your skill set will be accumulated knowledge & lying foundation to your future advancements.

Once your skill set is ready & familiar with cryoto space you can do good bounties which can give you good income base for your future investments. Learn more regarding good ICOs & some of good ICOs are allowing to invest even in small amounts in discounted rates. There are a lot of ways to earn & invest. So Learn first, Drop "L", you are there to Earn.

Most versatile coin to LEARN would be Ethereum IMHO. Browse for a recommended wallet on your phone (like imToken or Trust) and get some Ethereum on it. Coinbase or Bitpanda is a place to buy ethereum for „normal“ currency. From there just get to know all about crypto, wallets, transfers, signing, smart contracts, coins vs. tokens, keys, collectibles...
For me that would be the better INVESTMENT. Especially if your budget is low.

And one more thing. Be prepared that you will loose it all. Either because you gave away your secret key or you transferred all your ethereum to a shitty ICO or...
Good luck!

I prefer investing in altcoins now, because almost all altcoins are very cheap compared to their ath, even though you dont have too much capital, you can still buy a lot of coins. If the market experiences another bull run, you can make a remarkable profit easily

Cryptos as well as bitcoin can make a daily loss of several percent, and if you have no trading experience and market price development, you can lose a lot of money. Therefore, i recommend that you invest at the beginning of a smaller amount. If you have chosen an altcoin, a token, or a direct bitcoin, then Invest! Invest your money, secure your investment and let it work in the long run. Be part of the community of the project you have chosen. I mean it, write documentation, help write articles, translate, get to know the project and try to help actively from all the forces of the project. Over time, your investment can return multiple times. I have such an experience.

Though I don't really know what small amount of money means to you, if it means a few hundreds or thousands of dollars, then bitcoin should be a safe bet by performing a little research about it and enter at a good entry point.  But if your small money means less than hundred $, then look for a very good altcoin with great potential to multiply your asset in a short time.

So you think that if BTC starts costing 10k on the average it will be too expensive for most people, right? Yet during the last rally people not only buying for 10k but also for 15 and 19k. Market doesn't work like that, you are not forced to buy a whole bitcoin and the profits are always in proportion with your investment.
You put in 1k USD, BItcoin goes up by 10%, you earn 100 USD. It doesn't matter what the price of the whole coin is!

I think you should start with a low amount the first time you buy Bitcoins and send them to your own wallet.
When you get some satoshi in your wallet, then you cut try to send some of them to yourself, to see how it works, also try to send to an exchange, later you can buy more Bitcoins, buy some each month, and let them slowly add up.

Personally, I think you should test the waters by investing a little time in bounties and airdrops. That's way you acquire practical knowledge of the nitty gritty of how coin and exchanges work, and how volatile they can be sometimes. I suggest this because you get the coin almost free and you can trade these coin in an exchange. More like running a simulation before trying out the harsh practical contemporary.

Then you'll better understand whether to go for Bitcoin or altcoins

since you are in to Crypto Space after a research, expecting that you are well aware of crypto space that you should know like wallets & exchanges etc. If you need to invest in a small amount it is not easy to take a good profit. But there are some ways that you can collect some good money. Good Bounty & Airdrops are good to collect some smart money. It may take 3 or 4 months or more but it's worth rather than doing nothing. collect some good amount & invest in some good few coins. Not in one or two coins.

Learn about exchanges like Binance, Bitrex, ERC 20 tokens, Wallets to use & save your funds. ICOs are good to invest & make your money doubled or triple even in this bear market. Be careful to find best project. Follow News & Legit Airdrop channels to be updated about easy pickings. Do not be excited & listen to many when you make decision in this space. Check your government regulations as well. Keep your credentials & think about security at first since there are many scammers to grab you.

Ethereum is the smart choice. With a good foundation and strong growth only after Bitcoin. Ethereum is expected to grow even further. How much money do you intend to invest? If you have a lot of money, you should invest in BTC. Because BTC is the most trusted and strongest cryptocurrency today.

If you invest in small amounts, I think you should invest in EOS for $ 7.
The big question is whether this EOS power is a part of the blatant pump-and-dump play, not entirely based on the true interest and trust of investors.

That is always a stumbling block to estimate when it comes to different electronic coins, although it seems that most people actually believe that the EOS will achieve a great success in the future.

After receiving high profits then invest in BTC.

Investing in Bitoxins or any other coin doesn't need a huge capital because with a small amount of money, you cam still make profit. I will advise you invest in Bitcoin first because it is legit and you will make profit but wait for the price to go down to let's say $7000.

Hello everyone
After a period of research into the virtual currency market, I now want to invest in this virtual currency market. But with a small amount of money, how should I start and should invest in Bitcoin or another coin. Hope people show me a reasonable solution
Thanks very much.
The best choice is bitcoin and bitcoin cash for me now. But if you are interested in other coins, then only you should make a choice. This is your money and your risks.
The main thing, remember, you do not need to buy a coin when it reached the peak value. Wait until the coin becomes the cheapest one in the last time and invest only after that. In the case of large projects, it is also very important to follow the news about the development companies. It should be remembered that in the market any events can affect the course.

Also, you should not forget the basic rules of safe investment. Try not to invest the last money that you can not afford to lose. It is not recommended to invest the entire amount in one currency, because this increases the risk of losing funds. Fill your investment portfolio with a large number of currencies to protect yourself and increase your potential income.
I wish you good luck!

I am sitting with the same situation. Not too much funds but would like to start investing in some crypto currency before it becomes even more expensive to buy. how much should one buy. should you buy just one kind, for example bitcoin, or should you diversify and buy other types of cryptocurrency as well. You should also compare the the different digital coins and read up on their history some might be expensive but other might be low lying fruits easily obtained at  a lower price. Just do your homework first is what someone suggested to me and I would advise you the same.

Deciding on what to invest in depends on what you want. Do you want a short term investment with high returns on investment or do you want a long term investment? Are you willing to invest in a high risk investment but with the possibility of a high returns or are you comfortable with low risk investment but with low returns? Considering the short term investment, bitcoin may give a smaller returns but less risk, while altcoins may give a higher profit with small investment but with a very high risk. So you decide on what you want.

If you want to long term i suggest you to choose 10 top coin on coinmarketcap so you can buy and hodl it until it reach all time high price. But if you choose short term you should learn more about the coin you will choose and you should have experience how to read technical analysis and fundamemtal your coin. But with situasion now i will prefer choose bitcoin with now dominance of bitcoin is growing 47%

3. Cardano (ADA)
4. NEO (NEO)
5. TRON (TRX)
6. ICON (ICX)

Using exchanges like coinbase is very easy for beginner and it is where I bought my first one. However fees are quite high so perhaps you must look for another one. You can also pay in UK pounds now which is cool. If you do a transfer it is free I think but if you just buy with a card you incur cost. I haven't tried abra at all. Try to see which ones have lower and higher fees and compare them to get the best deal.

It all depends on you, you want to invest your money in the long term or short term, if you want to get profits quickly you can go into the form of short term investments, for example investing your money in the form of altcoins, so many kinds of altcoins, you must know first, what new coins can be good and profitable for you, for example, looking for coins with a large sales volume, there you can see the exchange so quickly, that's where you will get profits quickly if you can use your money well, but with seeing the amount of money you have to invest, it is better to invest your money in the form of long-term investments, examples of coins that can be called long-term investments, namely BTC or ETH.

If you can afford to lose that small amount, you can hope for a high gain by investing in a new promising coin that has the potential to grow a hundred times. Now finding that coin is another challenge.

But conventional wisdom would tell you to:
1. Study first - know everthing you need to know in this cryptoverse that you're into. Be like a sponge in absorbing valuable information given out by the respected personalities here. Hint: LEGENDARY / HERO. (but you will soon see that even below-hero members who have more merits than their activities and realize that they tend to have the same credibility as the legendary and hero members). So include them as well in your sources of information.
2. Diversify - If you really don't want to gamble, this is your best bet. Hehe (funny me)
3. Keep on learning - this i believe will be your best tool in this vast cyptoverse.

Good luck.

First rules of make money is getting into the flow or follow the basic investment rules i.e. buy in low and sell in high.
If you see the candlesticks chart of Bitcoin or any other coin/token then you will see lots of price up and down cycle, so basic rule of multiplying of your money (whichever amount you have) is follow that cycle and buy or sell according to that. But before identifying that when buy or sell you need to do a lots of research or study and you will understand it. As per my opinion this time is best time to buy.

The answer is bitcoin, because it more safer and stable than another alt coin. Because of that bitcoin is suitable for long term investment.
But if you want to try for short term investment you can choose alt coin, there are many good alt coin, you also can check the other 10 top coin at https://coinmarketcap.com if you would invest to another alt coin.

One advice that's good for newbies but with small amounts, I don't think that they'll be happy to see such gains for bitcoin but if their total investment isn't so high.

Start trading with altcoins through a good exchange like binance and grow your small amount by buying altcoins and wait for them to grow with few percentage and sell them quickly to gain.

You can always ask questions here if the search function isn't being helpful.

yes, i totally agree. First, ask yourself those questions. But also new alts are not a short term investment (minimum 4-6 months).

Make a research, invest partly in Bitcoin or other altcoins like ETH, XRP, BCH, EOS, LTC, XLM, NEO, DASH.
OMG has a potential. Stellar this is a promising enough crypto currencyis has a full-fledged infrastructure, which allows to transfer funds through various assets. All participants in the system have equal access and rights, which attracts many investors. Recently, IBM announced that it chooses Stellar for its new project. Golem was created on the basis of Ethereum and is an open source protocol.

Diversify, don't invest only in one. Analyse - read the news, try new alts, which may cost 0,2-10$ but can grow faster than others. And don't think of quick money, go for longterm. Your patience will pay off.

May be, it can be more effective if you invest on "cheap altcoins or legit ico project , instead invest on bitcoin.
Now bitcoin price is still very expensive to buy, and the price is still falling, It feels very difficult to make a profit.
But it's different if you invest on legit ico or cheap altcoin, the price may still increase dramatically. In some situation that I've seen before, many peoples gained benefit more than 10x of their fund they were invested.
But be careful, most of icos are scam projects. Always do your own research before invest.

Price movements of digital currencies are important to be known and monitored at all times, especially for people who do digital currency business.

Monitoring Bitcoin prices is useful to find out which time to buy Bitcoin or to sell this digital currency.

Monitoring the price of digital currencies must be done every day even better at any time because of digital currencies such as gold or stocks whose prices can change quickly.

By monitoring the movement of Bitcoin prices it will not miss a golden opportunity to sell Bitcoin at a high price.

Different if you never monitor price movements, it is certainly difficult to find the right time to buy or sell Bitcoin.

Digital currency that is bought or sold at the wrong time will make business owners only get little profit or even experience losses.

This is the ol' direct investing vs mining discussion.

Direct Investing
Advantages: Potentially quicker ROI, Easy to liquidate
Disadvantages: Finite amount of returns, No physical value

Mining
Advantages: Potentially unlimited returns, Physical hardware will always have some monetary value
Disadvantages: Potentially slower ROI, Not easy to liquidate

if you are a started then you should really do a lot of reading up on bitcoin and all the other digital currencies around, just to get a better understanding and to work out a game plan. this will help keep you in focus and not to panic when someone says that the bitcoin is falling or get over the moon happy when someone says that the price went up - just stick to your plan. For beginners with small amount of money I would suggest then to choose the best investment that you can afford or to save a bit more if you  feel that another coin is more profitable.

you better invest money little by little, you have to know the strategies that must be taken in playing in the world of bitcoin. experience is the best teacher so from your experience selling and buying bitcoin, profit or loss in playing bitcoin take the experience for you to continue playing in the world of bitcoin.

advice from me, just take bitcoin because all the other coins will be made in other coins even if you get a small bitcoin but that can be a risk that you get. if you want to play on other coins, it may be that you have analyzed from various sources whether the coin you are aiming for is good for the future or not
