Title: Crypto on payment cards
Post by: blevotron on July 30, 2018, 05:57:47 PM
Is it possible that in the near future we will pay with crypto-currencies from our plastic cards?
Then there must be for this purpose a special currency or a lot of different convertible currencies?

Wirex is one of the crypto debit card service providers, but seems they are shipping to limited countries.

There are a couple of projects such as Monaco and Change are launching crypto debit cards but by far there aren’t any cards shipped.

Its already happening.  Check out STK (Stack).  They have a 5 year deal with Mastercard and have a beta going on right now.  The team are ex Mastercard employees as well. On boarding Canadians as we speak.  Americans happen at the end of the year.

But how applicable is it in the modern world? I probably did not quite correctly ask the question :) I meant when the application of crypto currency will become so common that you can go to the store and buy sneakers or a phone

It seems to me that in order for the whole crypto world to develop, one could introduce such plastic cards. For many people this is more understandable. But this is just my opinion

It is a very interesting question, we can think and hope for it to be in very different options. It can be as a convertible currency that you will buy on exchanges, or it can be, that you will be able to store different currencies on your card.

There is already some good working crypto cards out there & working too.
It's all depends on the partner rules about that, some are ok with crypto to fiat directly conversion & some are not & nee everything to be done at the back door (the conversion from from crypto to fiat) so everything is legitimate with that partner.

We still need this crypto card niche to be more "" legal ", this is the winning horse sooner or later specialty that many people in countries have hard time converting their crypto into cash the fast way.

It will be very suitable and useful. Crypto has becoming very popular and I suppose that such cards will have a large success with this new way of using.

Yes, I also agree with your suggestion and I believe if the crypto card niche becomes more legal, then that will be a very good development for crypto and this will show how potential and stable it will be in future. I hope this will happen sooner than we expect.

I think everyone who has a relationship with the crypto world hopes for this, because it will make life easier for all of us many times. But when this happens, it is not yet clear.

MNX and MCO are two of those debit card that you can use to pay your stuff that youve bought. MNX is the famous one right now unlike MCO that they are having problems but it also has a debit card. MNX is the best for me right now they are just distributing their cards and those who order it still waiting to arrive. I do also order because i do try to pay using that card when i go shopping.

We have understudy where this had already started existing in few countries that are having Master Cards which embed Crypto. But The special currency which I feel should key into this is no any other but BTC itself is my opinion.

Paying with cards is very popular now and even old people use this way so I think that symbiosis of crypto and cards will give a quite promising result.

that is kind of a dream future for me, where we just have one card containing all of it - fiat in all currencies, crypto and whatever elsr we can think of

I think you can do it now, but to me we will pay cryptocurrencies instead of fiat in the future, so there will be probably many methods, payment cards will not be big deal.

I think it's possible in the future. Now there are many projects that promise to issue cards and pay through them. But for this it is necessary for them to obtain a license of banks, but they have not succeeded so far.
