On July 30, 2018, DCEX (https://coinpedia.org/news/dcex-crypto-exchange-xrp-base-currency/), crypto marketplace, announced that the registration is opened to the first crypto exchange by using XRP as its base currency. The next generation crypto marketplace, DCEX powered by AlphaPoint, a blockchain exchange technology company. Although, clients will not be able to start the trading for a few more weeks.

DCEX Launches Its First Ever Crypto Exchange Using XRP As The Base Carrency


DCEX (https://dcex.com/) which is a San Francisco based startup announced (http://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/07/30/1543887/0/en/DCEX-to-Launch-First-Digital-Currency-Exchange-to-Use-XRP-as-Exclusive-Base-Currency-Powered-by-AlphaPoint-Blockchain-Technology.html) about the launch of its digital asset exchange on Monday that is 30th July 2018. This crypto exchange is the very first in
the world to use XRP (https://cointopper.com/coin/ripple) as its base currency. It is open for client registration as the trading and transactions will start sooner in the next few weeks.

DCEX is powered by Distributed Ledger Technology(DLT) which is an exchange technology and by AlphaPoint (https://www.alphapoint.com/) which is a solution provider.

The start-up says that being XRP- based marketplace allows the transactions to be completed in less than four seconds, “which provides a speed
advantage over other money movement options."

DCEX allows the trading of XRP against fiat (USD) and also the following 15 Cryptocurrencies.

We have less XRP to USD pair for US customers. As Coinbase and other exchanges not ready to add XRP, new players with XRP pairs will get better reception. Coinbase/Binance is work around solution but it is not user friendly. As DCEX is SFO based, not sure whether they are in touch with Ripple. Hopefully both will work together to build XRP ecosystem.

That's interesting. I guess it will be the first exchange to use XRP as a base currency. Hardcore crypto enthusiasts don't really like XRP, so I don't know how popular this exchange will be. But surely it will bring more utility to XRP and increase it's value at lease in short term.

Why don't they allow people to start trading for the first few weeks, Maybe they just want to test and see the reactions of the market? Because every other exchange has bitcoin as the base currency for exchanging with other pairs. If it's not decentralized then I'd say ripple company is behind this exchange to promote their coin.

Really - indeed the XRP is a very good competitor Ethereum. XRP was once in second position of coinmarketcap. Is this year going to properly displace the Ethereum position?!?

This is definitely good news for XRP hodlers, Ripple has got another real world use case as traders on the exchange will one way or the other buy XRP.

All exchanges do this, really. Some just open test order books to let people try executing orders and complete them. Natural beta testing, don't want to launch something new before rigorously tested.

Is it a start XRP fight eth? I think XRP need long time to fight eth. Community is important. ETH developers are too many.Most ICO developers use eth platform. few of them use xrp. the community of eth is large around the world. cryptocurrency based on community. I, too, will buy a few coins to try this exchange, see its functionality. But I continue to negatively talk about XRP, because this coin is completely centralized, a huge number of coins are stored on the purses of the creators. Guys be careful and do not invest the last funds in this coin. The best way to protect yourself against large losses is diversification.

There has been a lot of good news from XRP recently but it still doesn't have effect on its price because in this bearish market, a lot of people in crypto chose to dump any coin irrespective of the prospect or news.

Using ripple for a crypto?

Well, i would definitely not put my foot in there. Ripple is not decentralized and has multiple different risks. I think it is a disastrous decision.

I would call it a great move for decentralizing among crypto. With Bitcoin, Tether, Ethereum getting mainstream choice of exchange coins, Bitcoincash and now Ripple too are getting some attention.

Very interesting information. Using a ripple coin as a base coin, this is a new solution and it can be quite promising. Because the use of constantly bitcoin for this constantly distorted the crypto-currency market. We need a different monetary variety. This is rather interesting. As far as I know, ripple is fast and cheap, as well as with big potential to grow, since it is way down from its ATH. I also like it that IOTA will be traded there among some 15 trading pairs, because it is still not around on many exchanges. What is significant about this exchange is that they want to be totally legit in the US, while we know that situation with cryptos is a bit harsh out there.
