what do you think about MEW Connect from a security point of view?

is it comparable to an hardware wallet as they claim?

It's still not as good as a traditional hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor, KeepKey...), but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I'm still not sure how exactly this will work out, but looks like a phishing website still can put their own QR code on the user's page, making him connect his wallet on the hacker's end.

Also, it's only an android/iOS app. So there are no real downsides on trying it out (you don't have to buy anything).

Probably the app double check the address, and only allows pairing with myetherwallet.com

Guys, who can help, how to open my wallet on the website myetherwallet.com?
Login using the QR code does not work, an error, why?

How to import my old wallet address into MEWconnect?
