Title: Mistranslations
Post by: CaptainLance on August 01, 2018, 04:59:22 PM
Am I allowed to report a local translator for an ANN with mistranslations?
Although they are not entirely using google translate (not sure if they really didn't), the translations is incomprehensible and can't pass as a translation made from someone local.

Report it to the owner of the campaign.

If you are the owner of the campaign, report them in the reputation/scam accusations or service discussion section.

Report to the mods? No.

What you can do is create a thread in the Reputation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=129.0) board with the details about the user's translation. If it's clear that he's trying to cheat the bounty by making a google translated or awful translation (due to him not speaking that language), he will probably get a negative tag.

If the translation is horrible "cannot be read"[Rule No.1&2] or translated by a "Google Translator,"[Rule No.27] please report.
I have done this several times, and some topics/posts deleted.

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]
2. No off-topic posts.
27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed.

report unclear posts or posts that contain some errors to the campaign manager.

Many things you can do.
-Contact the BM
-Report the post to get it deleted by your local mod. That way, he won't get paid.
-If this is not his first time or if he keeps applying for translations in the same language again, try to get him tagged in "reputation". Before you do that, it would be best to ask your local community its opinion. If they feel the same as you, they'll tag him which will make your "case" easier in reputation.

But whatever you do, you'll need solid proof.
One of the first mistakes fake translators do is to not translate images (it takes too long). Also, you can check some of the original sentences in the ANN thread and see what the result would be with Google Translate (or whatever translating tool you can think of).

May I ask what language it was translated into ?
