A large ODIN coin burn was completed in November 2018, to ensure the fair distribution of coins with over 1000 community members who collectively share over 85% of the total coin supply. The remaining coins are in a publicly viewable multisig wallet, and the following budget allocations have been defined and will be accessible through a public proposal framework for each of the following areas.

• 20% Individuals and partners in education, research, and experimental development. For example, donations to universities, colleges and other educational establishments for use in research and development projects that use ODIN Technologies and/or extend on existing products and services.

What are this project's competitors? Does any other crypto platform have a focus on mobile Dapps? This appears to be an untapped market.

AFAIK Status is a mobile dApp (is it Dapp, or dApp haha) platform. Theirs focuses on Ethereum based smart contracts. I think they've been building a nice framework and would love to see what the experience is there. That said, their platform is the mobile app, whereas ODIN is striving to help build Proof-of-Concepts, Prototypes, and Working Products that will be open-sourced (so others on our platform can extend upon or build from) that target the ever growing mobile audience. This is our "Mobile First" approach that modern websites also are taking. Usability and User Experience are key to mainstream usage and we want to offer that polished experience.

You guys have completely lost the plot with your ODN to ODIN verification.    

Requesting people provide Photo and Address ID for a Coinswap is insane.   KYC is to do with money being from legitimate sources, requesting this information for a swap is beyond the pale.  

The provider you are planning to use, Shuftipro, has also made no declaration with regards to GDPR compliance.  If any of this information is leaked, for any purpose, you become untouchable by any legitimate exchange, due to the potential repercussions.  

The process you have done this claim on is also extremely shady, and not upfront - putting this Government ID and Address Verification after people have registered, locked in their ODN, and linked in emails and phone numbers.

I have spent a long time protecting my privacy to prevent myself being a target - as have others, and I would have done things extremely differently if you had acted in an upfront, straightforward manner.  Now I have no choice but to sell whatever I have left at cut rate prices, along with the locked ODIN claim account, to someone willing to do the KYC and risk getting their information revealed for a gain significantly below verifying yourself on a big exchange.

Really looking forward to this project! Keep up the good work team. Wallet looks fantastic and excited for the months to come!

I appreciate your lengthy reply as it shows an honest interest or conversation topic on your end. I'd like to help provide more context here regarding the requirement to provide additional PII in order to continue with the "airdrop". I say airdrop in quotes because this release is more akin to an airdrop where legitimate holders of Obsidian can receive ODIN but onto a different wallet / blockchain. There are still plans for Obsidian and community members that have been i contact to step up and run some interesting projects.

Now onto this Identity Verification we decided to require...

We had plans in the beginning to run a KYC/AML check for people looking to receive a large amount of ODIN (the amount would be variable based on how many people that would be). This was because Obsidian was unfortunately ridden with bad actors early on and we wanted to ensure ODIN had as clean of a start as possible. This would allow us to filter out people who should not necessarily have a large stake in ODIN's future because we want ODIN to be owned by the majority than the few.

As this release got closer and we began to assess how many requests there actually were, the spread of amounts, and the tightening rules and regulations most cryptocurrency exchanges require to list coins we decided to do a blanket KYC/AML check to ensure we could use this as additional leverage when approaching future exchanges. This last minute requirement was indeed last minute because we wanted to ensure any bad actors had little time to plan or react to these changes.

About Data Retention and User Privacy

As far as your declaration about Shuftipro not having any declaration of their GDPR compliance, I would like to provide you this link I found after a quick search for the keywords "shuftipro" and "gdpr": https://shuftipro.com/compliance-and-regulations/gdpr/

I would also like to happily state that users have already successfully reached out to them, and we have provided information on our end to help ensure their data is wiped from their servers. According to Shuftipro, all submissions are stored for a max of two years unless you reach out to their support manually. On our end, we are purging ALL ODIN Portal information by November 14, 2018 and will provide proof of this happening.

Finally I would like to clarify that ODIN carries forward the goal of being a Data Security and User Privacy advocate and we will do everything we can to push our claim and prove our claim. We want to build and support applications / services that build on-top of our ethos and utilize either all or part of the blockchain for this. I admire your desire for complete anonymization and preventing yourself as a target and we will work towards destroying all records we control as well as any link that a Shuftipro submission has towards an ODIN request. Even if you do not tell Shuftipro to remove your data within the next two years, your data on Shuftipro has no way of linking back to any request. The two are completely separate and this is why (along with other reasons) we wanted to use a third-party provider for this service.

After all this talk about privacy in your whitepaper and how important it is you guys chose to do a requirement for KYC/AML to claim a token swap! I really feel like it's a scam now.

The explanation given makes no sense, at least make a maximum limit for KYC/AML, for example $10,000 and up or something like that.

I've been involved in this project since the beginning and also the one it sprouted from near ICO. I assure you, there is no scam. There also was no token swap. It was a true airdrop for holders of ODN, should they chose to claim it. Many of us are still keeping and continuing to stake out ODN in addition to running ODIN MNs as ODN is still a thing. The KYC will indeed help with exchange listings and is also there to prevent abuse. Also, users who were eligible to claim 150K ODIN or more had an extended review process.

KYC is ONLY a 1-time thing for those wanting the airdrop of ODIN, and will no longer be a thing outside of that.

We can still be an advocate for Data Security and User Privacy but do the right thing about it and use your data in a meaningful way we are transparent about.

When will be a great new exchanger?

Very soon. We should be listed on Cryptopia this month. It was approved and paid for back in November 2018. They have had a massive backlog for a few months now which has delayed the $ODIN listing greatly.

So the ODIN Messenger is making steady improvements according to the dev team. They're taking a practical approach to integrating the blockchain into the process; using it to verify identities without revealing private information. Not randomly hashing messages into the blockchain as with other attempts at blockchain-based messengers in the crypto market.

In the long run we're hoping to see a solid foundation of support building through messenger use. Decentralized Messengers are abuzz right now with all the Facebook/Instagram/Twitter FUD that has been running rampant in recent months. After the messenger is mostly ready, it's time to buckle down and deliver the privacy platform that ODIN was made for: A dedicated community-run mobile dApps platform.

and your platform is named ODIN, did you by any chance think of the god Odin, the father of Thor? and since you are using his name, then maybe live up to his standards.

We already have an expansive community, and that is the intended audience for ODIN. The idea is a community-driven open-source project. Certain tasks are pro-bono, but a bounty so to speak can be negotiated for more complicated tasks. Community engagement is constantly on the rise.

So what are your short term commitments guys? Name it, with due date. Are you still at the "we have to define a real-world-use-case for our ODIN coins"? We have community, but no idea - so we are here - it is easy to fork a coin, hard to distinguish, impossible to make valuable.

I just wanna say that the ODIN master node system works flawlessly. I have been running a few nodes for months. And the Cold wallet / Hot wallet setup was easy and it makes me feel very safe and secure with my ODIN holdings. Thanks team for making a setup that is pretty easy for a low tech guy to figure out.  :)

No, you certainly Do Not need to provide a phone number to use the ODIN.CHAT (https://odin.chat) Messenger.
When creating an account you will make a unique 256bit encrypted ID which you can share with people who you want to communicate securely with. Others can share their ID with you in the form of a random ID code which you can then assign a "custom ID" so that you dont have to remember who X47Y2bU96bcL3 is  ;D

So, this might be a stupid question... but being an anonymous messenger, will that show a lot? Meaning will the messenger feel and look a lot like a normal messenger app like say WhatsApp or Signal, or will there be some major differences since it's totally anonymous?

Well here are a few of the major differences that will be significantly noticeable to our average person.

1. You will not need to give any personal information in order to create a Odin.Chat profile. Both Whatsapp and Signal require personal info.

2. Once a connection is established with the Odin Blockchain the system switches to peer to peer (P2P) communications between both people and bots.
Encrypted communications will be implemented and users will have the option to store their hash on the Odin Blockchain for a small fee

3. One of the coolest and features i'm looking forward to is that the Odin.Chat app will have a crypto wallet integrated into the messenger which you will eventually be able to to send/receive various coins with. Starting of course with ODIN.

Something that is of note is the fact that although ODIN.CHAT is the flagship product on Odin Blockchain and is going to be great, it is NOT the only thing that Odin Blockchain is about. Odin Blockchain is going to have numerous privacy/people centric applications coming out in the future.

Lol, I didnt name it, as I am just an OG community member, but yes it is named after the Legendary Norse god Odin. Its a cool theme as there is a lot of lore surrounding Norse Mythology.

In regards to The flagship application for OdinBlockchain.org (http://OdinBlockchain.org) We certainly cant make people use Odin.Chat (http://Odin.Chat) but it is meant to fulfill a particular niche market in the Crypto market being that what it is built on is a high security blockchain, fully anonymous identity sign in, and a built in crypto currency wallet. Currently there are no other projects doing this type of application. The closest thing is LOKI will not be ready for a quite some time, does not have a built in wallet, and does not mention whether sign in ID will be anonymous without the need for personal info.

Thank you for your questions. We had an initial donation to kickstart our development work on ODIN from a privacy and innovation philanthropist. Everyone working on ODIN projects and services is voluntary and there are a number of revenue streams we are looking into to enable long-term sustainability.

ODIN is a non-profit organization and any revenue generated will be put back into good, innovative community projects. There will be much more information published on this in due course. We are also looking into a range of bounties to help with issue-tracking and collaboration.

Just wondering if you guys are on CMC yet?  I tried searching but it says "no data".

but it doesnt represents on whats going on with their trading performance. looking at cb alone for the market trades of odin - it is struggling on to survive. someone is keeping it alive every few days or so.

honestly the trading volume is something we discuss all the time. we hope that we can create more utility by continuously improving our current and future products. as utilities increase we expect volume to grow since there will be more reasons to use and spend ODIN.

Yeah, that's not really a useful comment about low volume bla bla bla, especially considering how much of crypto, in general, is apparently 'wash traded'. There are still a lot of fake projects around but I recently looked into the regular ODIN project update posts, and there is actually a LOT of genuine work going on at odin blockchain, I think they have a society for community members to join too. Will read up on this more.

I for one find it crazy that no mainstream exchange has picked this project up yet. But all the same that's fine by me, better opportunity to get in at the bottom ;)

👋 Hello Chickromero. Our Q4 roadmap is focused primarily on the redesign of our Core Qt Wallet along with various bug fixes and enhancements, including the official support of Segwit. This wallet update will be mandatory. Anyone not running the latest release of 1.6.x will end up on a forked chain with anyone else that chose not to update. I'll post additional details of this update including when (estimated date/blockheight) you'll need to update by.

Aside from our Qt Wallet refresh, we're also focusing on initial support for ODIN Chat on the App Store. As this is our initial launch on the App Store, certain features or functionality may not be enabled. We aim to get our feet on the ground and continuously improve the experience for both iOS and Android users alike.

Finally, we're in touch with another design resource to provide some thoughtful redesigns/improvements that can be made across the board: our primary website, our MASH website, and our ODIN Chat application. As these are the initial concept design talks, implementation may not begin or be seen at least until Q1 2020.

When will the listing on the large or medium exchanger occur?

New exchanges are always something that is of consideration. Our priority continues to be technical development and advancing the products and services like ODIN.Chat and M.A.S.H. that already exist.

As everyone in our community is fully aware of, we are NOT an ICO funded project like so many of the others.

Although we ARE NOT backed by a MASSIVE ICO like many other projects, we have taken the resources we have and achieved quite a lot.

We have a proprietary blockchain - not just another token.

We have a product in the google play store (ODIN.CHAT) and development continues on iOS

We have M.A.S.H -- our own masternode hosting solution that is competitive and allows for future hosting of other coins to generate revenue.

We have been legally recognized by the FCA of the United Kingdom which gives us access to innovation grants and funding -- much like that of the illuminate foundation which helped us acquire a physical headquarters for the next two years.

We have two wallets - a mobile wallet in ODIN.Chat and a core wallet that has been giving significant updates recently.

We are a community-owned and operated workers cooperative. ODIN is funded through voluntary donations of time, cryptocurrencies, and fiat-based donations.

If you would like to lead a coalition of community members and both to apply and crowdfund the listing fee for a new exchange, that could be a solution and I am happy to help coordinate and work with you on this should you be of interest.

with the release of the android app, slowly de-bugging and making it nice, if we keep being positive and watch adoption grow,
this will be a good time for ODIN, you will see the rise happen with the general discovery and adoption of BlockNet.

both BlockNet and ODIN are undervalued, so having a working site is important. also maintaining BlockNet at least and the app will surely grow.
a desktop application is also a good idea, so people can send public keys and stuff from android to pc.

good luck, have fun and stay safe in these crazy times. don't be afraid to redistribute old effort, you might feel like you'd done things and that makes them no longer relevant, but only a handful of people in our community saw all the cool stuff going on here. kinda like Banano xD you need to be in it to see its potential.

aww, no block source, what a shame... I just noticed the discord channel was down, I thought the encrypted messenger thing would have done well in this day and age

Think that the project team became fully decentralized, and looks like they fully open-sourced all the code back in early 2020.
Guess if some devs were looking for a private/encrypted messenger project, they could use the existing code from the open-source repo as a starting point.
