Title: Ethereum vs bitcoin blockchain for game assets
Post by: LibertyShire on August 02, 2018, 08:32:10 AM
I was wandering why most of crypto games (such as cryptokitties etc...) Adopted Ethereum blockchain rather than Bitcoin Blockchain ?

Because Bitcoin blockchain doesn't have smart contracts available (yet). So it is not possible to create a special asset class on Bitcoin blockchain. But I think some people are also working on this, so that Bitcoin would have SC too.

Ethereum uses a blockchain stored application for contract negotiation and facilitation. The benefit of this contract is that the blockchain provides a decentralized way to verify and enforce it.

the same reason why these things like cryptokitties didn't use US dollar for their platform! it is because bitcoin is a currency not a plaything and also because it is always easier to copy code from smart contracts that already exist instead of learning a new thing and code it from scratch for bitcoin using RSK!

Because Ethereum's smart contract approach allows games to run more quickly, it has an advantage over the rate at which Bitcoin creates games using Ethereum. But these games can easily lead to Ethereum network congestion. I don't think this way can last.

Or it actually is. Counterparty is based on Bitcoin blockchain. And you can own real asset (i.e. cards). A project which is based on Counterparty is Spells of genesis (mobile game) it uses Bitcrystals (BCY) and you can own/trade cards in Book Of Orbs (mobile wallet). Bitcoin blockchain is a worldwide shared ledger that assures easy accounting and transfer of value in the form of bitcoin. Ethereum blockchain not only transfer money but you can execute smart contract and make Dapp.

Different games have different requirements. If you need smart contracts then ethereum is the better and only real choice. For a reward system bitcoin can be used instead as it has a bigger name for marketing

Ethereum's smart contract is more in demand by game lovers, many are using and utilizing the eth platform, moreover, its value is lower than bitcoin. More affordable and cheaper for games.

As far I know, Bitcoin Blockchain still lacks Smart Contract but Ethereum Blockchain offers easy integration, may be that is the reason.

Applying Ethereum vs bitcoin blockchain to game content, providing value to in-game fortune is a way to encourage them to spend more money on games they like without the risk of loss. All of these options have their special features, such as the Ethereum's intelligent contract system or the widespread popularity of Bitcoin. The ability to create tags based on Blockchain has brought more demand for digital currency in transactions.

I also noticed that most of the blockchain games are made through Ethereum's blockchain.

I'm not a developer but it seems so easy for anyone to include and integrate their own project/game to ETH's blockchain so that's why most that we see are made of it.

Well, I think many don't give a thing about this kind of games because it would only consume your resources or ETH with this nonsense games I don't think there are that many that are playing it since it would only consume your time and money, But well Ethereum is a blockchain compatible for such games because of the convenient of it that is why many developer really like the way they can easily make transaction with Ethereum, But I don't really give any time with consuming with such things.

I think that's one of the things that makes ethereum special compared to other bitcoins and altcoins, he provides a smart contract so you can make your own version of coins / tokens for sale. besides that, I think those who really focus on bitcoin are not interested in investing their assets in the form of games. with ethereum the games industry can more easily capture their customers.

I think that's one of the things that makes ethereum special compared to other bitcoins and altcoins,

the word is "different" not special. ethereum is not a currency, it is a platform used for creating games like cryptokitties. bitcoin is a currency meant to be used for payments like fiat. saying ethereum is better than bitcoin is like saying shoe is better than a hamburger :D
not to mention that in its own category (platform for smart contracts) ethereum is not considered the best thing available.

Ethereum is the winner in this regard beause of smart contracts. Bitcoin has a largely different use case to ethereum in that it is used for payments and is meant to be a currency. Ethereum is a currency but mostly for transactions within their own network where ERC20 tokens can be created as well as other things such as the games you speak of using their smart contracts.

Lot of them do it because in some point bitcoin turns crazy, and people had to pay damn high fees to get a confirmation, we are talking about something close to 0.0012 fees to avoid transactions getting stuck in the limbo. That way for users wasn't a good deal to spend close to $15 just to send money to the casino. That's why a lot of casinos find the solution in other coins like Ethereum. Now fees are low again, and bitcoin is a good deal again, but if casinos have to migrate i thing this time they will go for BCH.
