Title: Smoothie's MTGOX prediction came true! LOL
Post by: smoothie on February 22, 2014, 12:58:11 AM
Gonna toot my own horn here. Haha. lol  :D :D :D

If I had to make a prediction for 2014 it would be that MTGOX would somehow cause some sort of news that would start a panic selling of Bitcoin. Not to imply that Bitcoin is not going up longer-term. But I sense a quiet before the storm surrounding MTGOX. They have been awfully quiet since summer of 2013.

How did you get ahold of this informatiom? Are you a Gox insider or perhaps you have access to dark powers (similar to Bitcoinsteve)?

I looked at all the facts:

Fact #1: MTGOX stopped Fiat withdrawals in June 2013 and said TWO WEEKS would be the delay for resumption.

Fact #2: MTGOX had $5 million seized and an ongoing lawsuit with Coinlab.

Fact #3: MTGOX delays on fiat went on for months.

Fact #4: They were exceptionally quiet about #2.

This ^ was what I based the prediction on. Eventually a ponzi has to end. At the time I didn't believe they had all the funds as you can wire them $100,000 or more in a reasonable amount of time but trying to get that same amount out takes MONTHS.

Whatever happened with the Coinlab lawsuit? Is this ongoing? I forgot all about it some time after the news originally surfaced.

Not sure. I haven't kept up with it. Seems it has been pretty quiet on any news regarding this.

Fact #2: MTGOX had $5 million seized and an ongoing lawsuit with Coinlab.

Based on the counter-suit Coinlab was holding $5M+ in gox funds:

Quote
In addition, Mt. Gox claims that at the beginning of the partnership, nearly $12.8 million of customer accounts were transferred to CoinLab accounts. About $7.5 million was transferred back to Mt. Gox, leaving about $5.3 million of Mt. Gox funds "being wrongfully held by CoinLab," the exchange said in its complaint.

I never heard anything about that being returned to them; and didn't coinlabs get sued by someone else in the US and basically end up bankrupt (or at least part of their operation)?
http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2013/11/07/judge-orders-coinlab-to-pay-up-in-bitcoin/

So...by my count that's at least $10million missing just from those 2 events (Feds and Coinlab).

Check my posts for the last 7 months. Not much trolling there.

But try to do your best to justify why people missed my prediction.  ::)
