Title: Harvard student caught using Harvard computing cluster to mine DOGE!!!
Post by: timk225 on February 22, 2014, 03:25:46 AM
I love it!  Someone at Harvard used their Odyssey cluster to mine DOGEcoin briefly.  Only one minor problem -- they got caught.

If I were in a position to put mass amounts of computer power to work for my own personal gain, I definitely would!   ;D

Well, I'm glad it was just a slap on the wrist.
Sneaky bastard though.

One of the technicians in my old lab used a cluster on campus to mine BTC back in the day, I'm surprised he never got caught. I'd had access to supercomputer clusters for a while now, I'd thought of it but it around when Litecoin came out but it always seemed like a really stupid idea because of the chance of expulsion if I got caught.

Yeah, totally not worth it, specially with a good school. It looks bad to other schools and employers knowing you got expelled.

not sure how much hash the cpu cluster could generate for a scrypt coin but he got caught in less than 2 hours, couldn't even make a full bitcoin out of this LOL

It would be interesting to know the amount of Doge he mined using the Odyssey cluster with the current difficulty.
