Title: Status of Fairbrix Post by: worldinacoin on October 14, 2011, 02:33:13 PM Now that coblee has had a successful launch of Litecoin, wonder what will be the future plans of Fairbrix? I did try to mine it on a spare PC for an another day but nothing came out. Any decision to support or dump it?
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: Lolcust on October 14, 2011, 02:40:24 PM If I recall correctly, coblee has stated he will continue maintaining fairbrix to give it a fair chance.
Besides BTC-E sortakinda :) said they will launch FBX and LTC exchanges together, so it would be a shame to dump FBX that close to getting an exchange. Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: freequant on October 14, 2011, 02:50:16 PM Fairbrix is like Tenebrix in better (no premine).
It has a bit weak hashrate, but it may recover once there is an exchange. Anyway, you cannot kill a distributed crypto currency as long as there are people willing to mine it. Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: Bobnova on October 14, 2011, 02:53:16 PM I've been mining it, seems to still be alive.
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: coblee on October 23, 2011, 04:13:08 AM Looks like there aren't too many people mining fairbrix anymore. From allchains.info Litecoin has 5.69 mhash whereas Fairbrix only has .08 mhash. That's like 1.5% of Litecoin's network. Since interest is so low and the price is really low also, I probably won't spend much time maintaining the fork. If someone wants to take over, I will be happy to transfer the github project over to them.
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: worldinacoin on October 23, 2011, 06:02:55 AM It is a pity, it looks quite a decent piece of work. But I guess you will be extremely with Litecoin which is getting really popular. Hope that someone can pick up Fairbrix from there.
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: wknight on October 23, 2011, 03:40:28 PM Problem with Fairbrix is risk of being 51% at all times.
Very fragile coin for sure. I still have like 2k on it.. though i dont plan to do anything with it but store it away. Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: goldk on November 21, 2011, 12:50:20 AM I've been mining it, seems to still be alive. I have interest in mining fairbrix. Where can I start doing this? Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: FlipPro on November 21, 2011, 01:30:04 AM DEAD? :D
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: Spacy on November 21, 2011, 08:59:50 AM DEAD? :D No, the correct status is "nearly-GG-level" ;D Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: goldk on November 21, 2011, 11:14:07 AM I don't care if people think it is dead or not. I would like to mine it anyway. GG level is fine.
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: caish5 on November 21, 2011, 02:31:59 PM Goldcoin: You'll need to get the client and solo mine it. There are no pools but the difficulty is pretty low.
Title: Re: Status of Fairbrix Post by: Retired on November 22, 2011, 12:07:58 PM Maybe it will get a bit more of momentum since Litecoin seems to be getting more and more popular... and the authors credit FBX for the scrypt implementation properly.
