Title: How to earn MERITS?
Post by: Omighty28 on August 04, 2018, 05:53:55 PM
So, I took out time to get some information on how to increase bitcointalk level, and  I discovered I need to earn MERITS by dropping relevant and authentic discussions almost everyday. That I have been doing for a while now, but not a single merit earned since I got to Junior member. This has got me thinking if the system is just enough.

How do I earn MERITS to increase my rank?

I just read your posts and apparently, the problem is not the quality of your posts. It's the section you're posting in. Generally speaking, the altcoin section is usually full of spammers and people who don't read comments and If someone doesn't read your post, he won't know how helpful your post is = won't give you merits. I suggest continuing being helpful and post constructive posts, the merits will eventually come.

I noticed that you are posting mostly in altcoin discussion. I think it is better to post on other boards here in the forum like OmegaStream said as a being helpful and constructive post is the way that you can earn a merit.

There are some guides and merit givers here in the forum that might help you learn how to earn merits check this sources (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2534500.0)

You have to make high-quality posts to get a merit. Everyone says this. The merit will be given by random bitcointalk member. If they like your posts they will give you a merit. Then you have to make helpful and useful posts on here.

The reality is merit system has created difficulty for beginners as no one looks much about beginners as a result merit is given to only accounts who are legendary and hero members and in very less instance jr members are getting merits ,my personal opinion though.Neverthless don't worry about merits as it's just a number and don't decide who are you,and don'tworry about TOEFL level of english language what merit donors expect,in my opinion language is just a tool to communicate with each other. So keep contributing never get disappointed.

That isn't true. Most merit sources look at posts, and usually aren't influenced by the rank of the poster. The big problems for beginners are the fact that they dont read the rules and the posting guidelines, and that thay just chuck out any old comment regardless of it's relevance.

One bad post with bad formatting, or with a full quote of a long original post, can get you put on ignore. Once you get onto the ignore list of a merit source, then you have killed any chance of receiving merit from him.

To be honest, this is so true. I've seen someone put up a comment that isn't related to the content of the main post. I just hope i'll be able to put up a nice post in the right trend one day... I think i need the merit too.

Totally agree. I`ve also taken a look at your post history and it seems pretty decent. Explore the forum. Engage with more debates in different areas in here. My favourite boards are:
- Serious discussion: if you have something relevant to discuss, I think this is the most serious and well-informed board, you might be able of learning a lot in there, as well as participate with some knowledge you have in some good conversations having place in there. Since the activity is not a problem in your case, for you have already more than enough to rank-up to a member, maybe this board will suit you.
- Meta. This board is for forum discussions purposes. This is my favourite, and you will learn in there what`s the current state of the forum, as well as the senior`s concerns related to the forum. Read it, read it well, even before posting.
- Politics and Society. Flying Hellfish is doing a great job in making of this board a nice place for discussions about anything related to the word we live in.
- Technical discussion. I love this one, if you have some technical knowledge, you will find in there good debates concerning new tech involving the blockchain et al.
- Technical support. Again, if you have some good knowledge about technical stuff, you will find in there people asking for help and you can actually help people.

Those are just few, but I think that if you contribute on this boards, given your posting quality, you might be able of overcoming the merit barrier soon enough. Of course, always read first the pinned threads of each board, and do not make a reply waiting for merits to come. This is an organic system, everything must be fluid.
Good luck, man.

Try helping people.  Lots of users go around posting their opinions and expecting the seas to part for them.  If you search out problems that users are having and assist them, you might find that they show their gratitude in the form of merit.

Merit source do look at the beginners and jr. members. There are threads to reply and you'll get a chance to earn merit. Jet Cash did that by posting a question and let the newbies and jr. member answer the question and will give a merit to the one who deserved it. Don't think about that and it won't help you earn a single merit.

Since the launch of the Merits in the forum, it has been found that the upgrade is stuck.
It is too difficult to get a meris. But still have to work hard, otherwise it is impossible to upgrade.

We have no option other than good posting to earn merits. I knew ,it is very difficult to upgrade the ranking. But if we used to write good post regularly, then definitely we automatically get merits and ranks.

Seriously we can get a merit if we post a quality and a helpful post.
Unfortunately, mostly of the members don't give a merit even you are helping a lot.

In my observation you will only get merit if:
1. You made constructive post.
2. You are on the top of your english.
3. Being a critics helps you get merit sometimes.
4. You get lucky in posting in a thread who has someone who's seriously reading the discussion on the thread.
5. Your past post will be reviewed before they give merit to you.

This is just my point of view, I only have 3 merits so this is not 100% sure. :P

That`s not true. I first came into the forum on the last December, quite shortly before the merit system was implemented. I am not a very active user, in fact, I just come here twice a week or so, and yet, I`ve come to be able to rank- up to Full member.
The problem is not the merit system. The problem is the people who, without effort, pretend to be rewarded. To me the merits system is fair and useful, it is not only great in the sense of stopping spammers in their way of ranking-up but also encourages the people to try harder, to put their souls and minds into a quote, to be a part of amazing conversations. I think many of you tend to forget that we are all in a big place, and you can learn from people all over the world. This is amazing, and we all should be grateful just for that, for having the opportunity of learning, talking and debating with people from every corner of the world.
This is a social place, I`m sure you don`t complain to the YouTube if you are not getting enough views to monetize your videos, true? Well, that`s the same in here, make a difference, or simply read and learn, engage and enjoy the forum and the merit system is going to be for you just another tool.

When you want to earn some of merit there many ways to gets
1. You must made original post (if you make a thread don't be plagiarisme) or made constructive post.
2. Use the internet to increase your knowledge and especially about cryptocurrency so you can help anyone that needed.
3. Write down every idea you find and record the important points in a note and make it a thread if no one has discussed it yet.
4. Do not be too chasing to get merit because merit will come by itself when you already understand how to make a good post which does need the process.

But I also need to learn a lot more, so keep making good posts dont give up so we can get merit and up our rank too.

yea , I don't think we have some nice ways to get that exclude post some nice threads . If you post some threads or pots that help some people , if they think it's very helpful , maybe they will give you some merits .

The merit system works depending on your luck on this forum. I have find a lot of articles very useful but no merit but just a junk from someone can get a merit.

Definitely agree that your rank does not influence the merit that you will receive.  However, I witnessed some merit sources review your old posts prior giving a merit.  Meaning, they will give you a merit not just because you posted a quality content but (will review your post) also if you posted quality content (from the past) consistently.

It is relatively easy to get a merit in the English section,
but our native language is not English, which is a challenge for us.
