Title: Bitcoin Address of Austin ATM?
Post by: pigslaughter on February 23, 2014, 03:37:40 PM
I'd like to see how successful this machine is. Can I see the transactions made at the new ATM in Austin, TX?

I seriously doubt it uses a single address.

^ This.

Single address would be pointless.  Actually if any company for any reason is using a single Bitcoin address then they likely are clueless and it is a good sign that you shouldn't be doing any business with them.

Ok thanks for pointing that out. I guess I confirmed how clueless I am about Bitcoin. I have a cuz in Austin, I'll just have her go talk to the bar keep there.

I wouldn't trust a Bitcoin ATM with your biometric data.

Besides the fact that gathering that information is completely outrageous, the security on those machines is shit.

I was also curious about this. I've been reading a lot of comments about it and it seems most people are turned off by it, can't blame them at all. I guess SXSW will be the true test for this company.

It does seem like a nice money maker though, that's why I'm curious. The company's website https://robocoinkiosk.com/  (https://robocoinkiosk.com/)shows the current buy and sell price at the ATM with a $60 spread.

Robocoin and the proprietor are extremely lucky the local 2600 group was nice enough to not exploit what they found within a few hours of that ATM opening.

I heard apple deleted all bitcoin wallets from app store. How can I send bitcoins to the address on a receipt within 300 seconds?

Evasi0n.com -> Jailbreak -> Install the official Blockchain.info app from Cydia

Not too sure I'd trust a jailbroken (And thus root permissions & skewed sandbox) device to do financials on.

Why would you trust an Apple device for anything in the first place?

I don't use an apple device? I'd trust one, however, maybe not for my privacy, but, not to steal from me? Yeah, I'd trust Apple.

You need to understand the risks of jailbreaking but as long as you don't use an app that stores your private keys in plaintext I'm not too worried - a key logger isn't likely though I wouldn't say impossible.
Few apps actually run with root permissions.

And what did they find?
A security problem that required the manufacturer to patch all affected machines.
