Title: Stumped on Mining, a newbie
Post by: h3m96 on February 24, 2014, 02:10:07 AM
Hi!  I love this forum by the way, been reading for months.  I have 2 Radeon R0 270X cards and a 600 watt Corsair CX600 ATX power supply.  What else do I need to mine Litecoin?  I want to stay as simple as possible.  I already understand how mining works, I have a wallet and mining pool already set up, but I just need to know:  can I hook up these 2 Radeon graphics cards in a computer I have here at home?  If not, why not?  I don't want to buy a motherboard, etc., unless I have to.   If I do have to, what are the minimums I would need to get started?

I really appreciate any help/input!  You guys are fantastic!

What mobo do you have ???  You may need a bigger PSU,mining is extremely intensive & consumes a lot more power than gaming ever will............

BTW,here's what I use for my miner software,its easy & simple....just like me  :D

Scroll down to GUIminer version:

All you need is your vid drivers up to date,no Zadig or FTDI drivers,no compiling,no config files,no bat files  8)

Something to look thru  :D

What is a mobo?  I was just going to use one card at first, and maybe add the second.  I thought that would be sufficient with the power supply I have?  Thanks for the reply.   I already knew about GUIMiner-Scrypt.  I am just curious why can't I use an old computer I have to do the mining?  I have a few Dells with Intel processors and a couple of AMD processors in newer computers.

Simpliest way is cloud mining.
No need to buy any hardware, just need some btc to buy Khash/s

Don't listen to these guys ^,  they just want referrals.

Your video cards are pci-e x16, your homecomputer prob only has one slot if not a gaming machine.
I suggest you setup one and later can add #2 on a riser. Make use of what isalready at hand

The 600w will do one easy but not enough for two stabe.

Just my two satoshis.

Thanks Four Rings.  That does help!  I will try out the one card on a computer I have.  I see all these videos of people making rigs, and I don't need a complicated setup, just something simple at first so I know what I'm doing.  Oh, I do ignore people like that above.
