Title: Coinbase buy volume too high for today (Not selling at Market Price)
Post by: googlemaster1 on February 25, 2014, 12:52:32 AM
Note! We've exceeded our normal buy limits for today. If you would still like to purchase you will receive the market price of bitcoin on Friday Feb 28, 2014 at 04:50PM PST after your funds have arrived.

Anyone ever seen this?  I wonder what this really means...

It means they ran out of fiat on the other exchanges... The buy volume was so high that they exceeded their ability to keep up with it.

Happened to me too.

It appears their inventory of bitcoin is exhausted.

So now we're going to panic about normal Coinbase operations?

Panic? It's a good sign imo, lots of buying pressure.

This happened to me in the last hour. I had a buy go through at coinbase. Then literally 5 minutes later I decided to do another buy.

They also give the following information:

"Due to higher than normal buy volumes, we are unable to provide exact price quotes right now.

Instead of pausing buys entirely, we decided to give people the option to purchase bitcoin at the market price in a few days. Once your USD funds arrive, we will exchange them to bitcoin at the market price at approximately Friday Feb 28, 2014 at 06:37PM CST.

Note that you can cancel your order at any time up until your [Suspicious link removed]ive from the transfer history page.

The market price of bitcoin changes frequently. Below are some recent prices to give you an idea. These do not guarantee what the price will be in a few days."

IF no one can buy bitcoin there will not be much support for the price.

I was able to finally buy a few (probably from sell volume coming in).  But it looks like they need to get some mo' BTC.  I think 515 was a great price!  I'm super happy to go spend Bitcoin at my local bars to get a little bit of liquor in my system :D  woohoo!

Yes. I've had this happen when I tried to buy bitcoins all the way from 30 - 80 dollars.

Would Coinbase not allowing customers to make BTC purchase at their daily limits also be affected by their inability to get bitcoin?

I am having trouble making 3K daily purchases since yesterday.

Also, why wouldn't I get a message like you about the market price being different?
I got no such message!

Is anybody else having this problem?
