Looks like its working...and with 0% fee you can't beat it.

You have to have javascript enabled for it to work at all, and I didn't see a link to set up your workers (gotta cut-n-paste from the how to page).  Looks like less total hashing power than one of my CPUs, but definitely looking good if it gets some power.  Any donation % is better than the 5% of the 'other' pool. =)

With the other guys pool, i would commonly get 0 LTC on blocks.   not sometimes, like 1 out of 4 blocks from the other pool and i'd get zilch.  dunno why that is really, never got a satisfactory answer.  but it stands to reason that if the pool finds a block, every one submitting hashing during that period should get something.  maybe this pool will run better for me.

LMP still looking for its first block.  C'mon folks, only 4 kh/s.  NO FEE, is it that hard to point your miner to a new link?

I think I'll give this a go with my weak 11k hash/s

Depending if I have time tomorrow I'll try to fire up my old AMD comp but I doubt it'll give all that much power, also my laptop (i7 ftw) will be on and off when I got time between classes and a plug handy  ;)

Edit: Boo it only shows barely 4 :( now I feel like a liar.

Edit 2: doobadoo I think 120 confirms might be a little high for it to officially show up on balance...

That's what the Litecoin network requires. For it to be paid out earlier, the pool operator needs to put in a margin, running the risk of having the blocks invalidated by the network.

Ah alright, I didn't really read into all the technical aspects of Litecoin but that makes sense.

Thanks everyone so far for joining - we're doing great, with 6 blocks found so far and 181KHashes per second!

Schwede65 - Part of the reason for the 10 minute updates for earnings statistics is to discourage pool hoppers, and partly to keep the server comfortable at a low load (including discouraging people to reload all the time).  Hashrate reporting also depends on the 10 minute period to give a reasonable estimate of individual members' hashrates. This hashrate calculation is done based on the number of shares shubmitted over the 10 minute period.  At the moment, unfortunately changing the 10 minute intervals to 1 minute gives highly inaccuarate hashrate estimates (I gave it a go after reading your post and hashrates estimates were looking very wonky just based on the 1 minute period), so I think it'll need to stay at 10 minutes for now.  Patience is the answer :)

Updated: I was feeling your pain too with the 10 minute delays...things have now been tweaked so that updates are now once a minute.  :D

Thats just for mined coins right?  will the client force some one to sit on money from other users for several hours before it can be spent?  Just wondering aloud.

I'm currently working on something to enable stats to be updated more often than the current 10 minute interval.  You may notice your hashrate estimates go a little gaga whilst I'm tinkering away under the hood, but everything else including recording shares will continue to work fine.

Title: Re: [ANNOUNCE] New Litecoin Pool 0% Fee. Percentage of Donations to good causes.

Okies folks, statistics are now updated once a minute rather than every 10 minutes.  Hashrate calculations (also updated evey minute)  are now based on your last 15 minutes worth of shares found rather than the previous 10 minutes, so should give a better average of your hashing.

There's now an email address on the site too, if you prefer to contact me that way for any questions.

Great to hear you like the pool Panerie and Party Hard.  We're flying along really well.

There was a little blip that happened last night...a block was found between Round 80 and 81 which wasn't recorded in the stats.  This appears to have happened by a block being found at the very same time that the stats-updating cronjob (which runs every minute) was updating the stats.  I've updated the cronjob now so that it locks the database from any "writes" during the stats updating (shares will justs queue up patiently waiting for the cronjob to complete, and then will write to the database only after the cronjob has fully done its stuff).  This should prevent similar problems in the future.

As a result of the blip, the timings recorded for blocks since last night were one block off on our blocks page at   http://litecoin.miningpool.com/blocks.php from last night.  Apart from the timings shown in the blocks found page, and the fact that you've been paid based on the immediately previous block since last night, all calculations of shares and awards that everyone has received are correct.  This is except for between round 80 and 81 where miners are due a share of the extra block which was found between block 80 and 81 but was not originally recorded.

To get the timings and everything back on track, I've stuck a zero share block at round 126. This will get things back so that everyone is now being paid based on the current block your're mining for.  In the day or so, I'll allocate the 50 Litcoins from the missing-but-now-found block between all miners who were mining on round 80 and 81.  This will be done based on the number of shares you mined during round 80 and 81, as a proportion of the overall total number of shares in round 80 and 81.

Sorries for any confusion.

Sorry for the downtime for a few minutes.  In the middle of this we had actually found another block which I've had to manually insert as round 256 as another zero-share block to prevent a time-offset similar to the first "missing-but-now-found block".

The Litecoins from the first "missing-but-now-found block" have now been shared out as follows, based on your shares from rounds 80 and 81:

Total shares in rounds 80 and 81 = 11726

Coins awarded for missing block
Schwede65.......4952 shares....... 21.115469895958 Litecoins
iprivately.......1173 shares....... 5.0017056114617 Litecoins

Toresh.......951 shares....... 4.0550912502132 Litecoins

babyhunghung.......13 shares....... 0.055432372505543 Litecoins

Total coins awarded....50

If you have been awarded coins from this, you'll see an entry "My Other Earnings" in your statistics.   Your Confirmed Lifetime Earnings now includes this adjustment.

To apportion the 50.0005 Litecoins from the extra block which was found between round 255 and 257, I'll do the same thing as above (without the downtime this time  :-[  ) but based on your shares earned in round 255 and 257 (once we've solved round 257).

i just created a miner account for each machine to better monitor hashrates per machine. i have a bunch of xeons pointed atcha

btw, it would be nice if you could delete miner accounts

Welcome, BitcoinEXpress.  Honoured that you've chosen litecoin.miningpool.com for your first Litecoin mining expedition.

The race for positions 2, 3 and 4 in the pool is really close at the moment -keep going, Panerie :)  Deletion of workers is something I'll look into - if it's done I'll need to make sure it doesn't confuse the statistics for workers who have earned Litecoins...or would it be better just to have the option to delete workers who have zero earnings?

Another "bonus" block has been apportioned from last night by the way.  Earnings from the block have apportioned for those mining between rounds 255 to 258 (inclusive), which is around the time the block was found.  A zero share block has been inserted at round 266 to catch up, with statistics timings.

As requested by EskimoBob, your statistics when you're logged in now includes a total of the amount of Litecoins you've personally mined in the last 24 hours (includes unconfirmed).   :)

More good stuff to come!

Threw ~10KH your way to give this a try. Seems to work fine so far. Just one small thing, in account details the workers "active" column is all set to "N", though they look pretty active from where I sit :).

Yep, looks better now, thanks.

A few more feature requests:
- show total shares per worker (ideally both for active block and globally)
- show average shares/s or per hour for each worker and for the account over the last 1 hour or day, or make that timespan selectable. This would be useful when finetuning performance, since current miners afaik dont provide this info.
- Allow changing or at least deleting of workers
- some 24hr revenue guestimate (preferably in $/euro/btc) by fetching prices from some exchange would be a nice touch.

I think the most important and over looked feature should be how much you've actually donated! For the people who set a donation amount its always nice to see how much we've given so far.  I mean personally I don't have the donation set next to nil but when I sort out some stuff I'll be raising the amount (I will stay in the top 10 if it kills me).  But its always nice to see how much of a contribution that we've made so far.

I know difficulty went up, but I'm mining much less while continuing to add hashrate. I was making twice as much a few days ago.

I also need clarification on this line here

(Please note: 0.01 LTC will be deducted from payouts to allow for transaction fees which may be required by the litecoin client for processing)

"which may be required"

are we reimbursed the 0.01 if it is NOT required?

Thanks froggy!

Some good suggestions - consider them on my "to do" list.  :) Regarding the changing or deletion of workers, how about being able to "retire" workers rather than fully deleting them?  That way you would be able to see your current (non-retired) workers neatly on your main account page but be able to view retired workers on another page if you wish.

Are you thinking about tables showing members who are top donators? Or something showing how much the pool as a whole has donated to good causes and charities?  On that subject, we should get a discusion going about who will get the 60% of donations which will be paid out after the first month.   My thoughts are maybe the people coblee mentioned in his Litecoin launch post:

panerai, the 0.01 deductions from payouts aren't reimbursed if the Litecoin client doesn't charge them.  If you're concerned, you may want to only cash out after your Litecoin balance has reached a certain figure.  For example if you cash out (manually or automatically) after 100 Litecoins are earned, the 0.01 LTC is only 0.01 percent.  Another good pool sets a fixed 2% deduction for manual payouts by the way, which makes the 0.01% in the example pretty tiny at one 200th of the other pool's deduction (at least for manual payouts) :) .  If you feel I should change the wording of the line you mentioned, please say as I don't want it to seem misleading.

panerai, the 0.01 deductions from payouts aren't reimbursed if the Litecoin client doesn't charge them. If you feel I should change the wording of the line you mentioned, please say as I don't want it to seem misleading.

no no, it's cool. I was just wondering. I appreciate the response, thank you! :)

retireing workers helps. I like I can clearly see hashrates per miner now. Thank you.

Hey froggy, what I meant by showing the donated coin amount was not necessarily a table displaying the top x but just a little stat on the side panel showing the total amount that your account donated where it can fit in with one of the many different numbers displaying earned, paid out etc.

Sounds good - it's on the "to do" list.

Some extra names I want to add to the donation list for the first month : Xenland, whose Miningfarm and pushpool guides helpd to inspire me to create miningpool.com, and also Mike Allison, who created Simplecoin, Wayno and Tom Lightspeed.    In the end I ended up re-writing probably about 80% of the PHP coding behind miningpool.com, but if it wasn't for getting ideas from the code used by those guys it would have been a hugely more intimidating task.

We are indeed doing quite well since a low of around 160MH/s midweek.  I finally fixed the "missing blocks" problem on Wednesday (yipppeeeee!) 8) :).  I've left it until now to mention this, just to make sure the re-coding that I did had definitely fixed things.

At one point earlier in the week we were up to about 440KH/s but the "missing blocks" were still happening and in total we had 6 missing blocks by Wednesday, and a few people had dropped away from the pool, which I'm guessing was a result of them being put off by the missing blocks.  All 6 of the missing blocks have been apportioned between members who were mining around the time the missing blocks occurred, and this error shouldn't happen again now.

I also did a quick 2 minute restart of Jumpy, the cloud server, to upgrade him (or her?) a bit on Wednesday night.  We're now tootling along on 2.4Ghz of CPU power and 1504MB of RAM, with the ability to scale hugely if required as the pool grows.

I've added the ability today to send workers to the Retirement Home if you no longer need their active service, following requests to do something like this to help unclutter the main Account Details page.

More good stuff to come...

Onwards and upwards!
   :)

Ooops, that was because of a missing character in the Retirement Home coding.  All fixed now.

The reboot shouldn't have affected hashrates.  Maybe you've just had a lucky streak since the reboot, panerai.

No current plans to implement PPLNS at the moment, localhost.  To me, proportional seems fairer as you're paid for each and every share. Its also easy for newbies to understand. I see how some people prefer PPLNS though, so you never know what could happen in the future.

Well, it sure is as fair, but it's vulnerable to hopers. Also it has some added variability to reward (even though that doesn't seem to be as much of a problem with Litecoin as it is with BTC), because when a block is found very quickly you may not have a share inside of it. Anyway, I just joined another pool with PPLNS (pool-x).

Really sorry about this, thing just aren't going right - I've spent a lot of time and energy on trying to make a good pool but I know when it's time to fall on my sword.  I'll be stopping the pool as soon as I've posted this.  Please withdraw your balances if you can (see below).

As a bit of background, there were a couple more glitchs that happened today and somehow the pool allocated an extra 1747.59999999 Litecoins between pool members for block 478 and did the same for block 479.  This is just one glitch too far.  I tried to be fair when adjusting things to correct members' balances but possibly that was a bit off too.

Some members have already withdrawn balances from the 3495.19999998 which was incorrectly allocated, so the pool as a whole is vitually empty now. I'll be sending some of my own Litecoins from my own pocket to top it up so that everyone can withdraw their balances.

If you feel you have been unfairly treated, please post here with any relevant calculations for me to consider.

Wolf, if you can tell me your litecoin address I'll send that 0.47039161089352 LTC directly to you.

i must have come along at an unlucky time then, sorry if i seemed impatient..

dont worry about the fractional amount, it set my balance (0 since i was new lol) into the negative, if the relatively small amount of shares i put in put it positive you can put that towards reimbursing those who lost real amounts

i think you should not throw in the towel just yet, you did have a good thing going here and since you are being honest and trying to fix the problem i think most would give you another chance

perhaps naming and shaming those who cashed out the obviously higher than should of been payments might help  ;)

you should definately try and get to the bottom of exactly what happened and WHY because paying out thousands instead of 50 is kinda suspicious

best of luck
Wolf

Thanks guys, you are great and bringing a little tear to my eye here.  It's OK, I think it's best for me to just keep things shut down, at least for now and probably for good.  It's probably a case of my coding being icky rather than anything suspicious.  I'm just too exhausted right now with all the work I've put in.  I've transferred my entire personal holding of 1679.74 to the pool - just have to buy another 465.26 on the exchanges to transfer in and it should enable everyone to be paid.

it still can be  :) just consider this is one of those nasty speedhumps they seem to put along every road nowadays.. unpleasant.. slows you down.. but you can soon get back on track

once you have had some time to rest and come to terms with whats happened, try contacting the miners via email/here as im sure most will happily return any wrongly awarded funds
presumably the database recorded the amount of shares everyone put into the glitchy blocks so its not impossible to trace records and work out who should have got what, and who got more than they should have etc
most importantly you can figure out how much they should pay back (if they are honest folk...)

dont lose hope, you arent the only one who wants this pool to succeed

Hey Froggy, considering you shut down the pool before I had a chance to work back what was over-allocated, just give me your LTC address, I'll make up for some of that loss.  I'm not one to keep what isn't technically mine, anyway.
