Title: In the year 2014 ~ how many days can a BTC transaction go unconfirmed? Post by: Bit_Happy on February 25, 2014, 10:55:47 AM I usually pay fees, but chose the wrong time to save a little bit. I have a transaction (offering no fees) for ~$20 of BTC that is sitting "dead" for over 48 hours.

That depends on the wallet you used to send it. Did you use Bitcoin-Qt? MultiBit? Electrum? Armory? Blockchain.info? In some cases it could remain unconfirmed until you remove the transaction from your wallet. In other cases the wallet will stop broadcasting the transaction after a few days. All you can do is wait. Blockchain.info has a policy of not broadcasting transactions that haven't confirmed yet after a few days. Then the funds show up back in your wallet if nobody else is broadcasting it. I'm not sure the exact amount of time before they do that, but I think it is more than 72 hours and probably less than 120 hours. Post by: MakeBelieve on February 26, 2014, 12:44:17 PM The fees may be little for now but when more coins are mined the fees will go up and I'm sure a lot of people would rather not pay the fee which could become a big problem for Bitcoin as it could take days/weeks to send a single transaction.
Title: Re: In the year 2014 ~ how many days can a BTC transaction go unconfirmed? Post by: Meuh6879 on February 26, 2014, 09:39:35 PM it's not a problem for bitcoin (or bitcoin-QT).
it's a problem for users that they don't understand the value of this network. in bitcoin-QT, 20USD is 40mBTC ... for this, you must include 0,1mBTC of fee in Bitcoin-QT. this software don't allow the 0 fee transaction. |
