Title: Ask a legendary
Post by: Jet Cash on August 11, 2018, 04:11:42 PM
I've just installed this CMS - is it worth adding some questions and answers?
https://jetcash.com/ask-a-legendary/

I know this can be done on Bitcoin Talk with the search feature, but newbies aren't using that.
Would this take some of the pressure of the boards, or shall I delete it?

I think it might be good to have it linked to vital bitcointalk threads that are used. Questions should be asked here and then the thread can be linked with the OP and the most important answer on that thread being used on the other site.

Although newbies might find difficulty finding that site if they can't even run a google search on information they need :(.

Another initiative proves that you care about the forum more than anyone else here (no offence to others). Good work however instead of going there we can simply make this topic an FAQ topic...

I liked and would certainly help to answer the questions. The hardest part would be making the Newbies ask questions there instead of creating a new repetitive thread in the Beginners & Help board.

Whoever, I'm not a legendary :'(

I was looking for something else in the softaculous installer list, and I noticed this. If people think it could be useful, then I'll configureitfor use. At the moment, I've done nothing to it, it's straight out of the box at the moment.

That would be best, but are people using that section?

plus, the ask a legendary site allows them to ask questions, and the answers are kept for the next member to ask the same question

I love the idea  ;D
But how are you going to make it visible? Meaning? how are the people going to know about this new project?

You can be an expert. :)

I promoted you, but I'm not sure what advantage that gives you. How did you  manage to earn 100 points?

I already started with them. kuffy and jackg also got 100 points by default.

Now that you promoted me, I can see a page called "Admin" that says "No content is waiting for approval".

Edit:
These are my extra privileges as an Expert:

Editing any answer
Selecting answer for any question

I`m in too, JC. I can see my 100$ (whatever that means) but not the admin stuff yet.
Anyway, maybe you should make a thread on B&H in order to make "public" this new project and see what happens. I think we are going to have a lot of fun...

I've closed registrations for the moment. This is just until I can work out how to block the spammers.
I'd also like to knowif the site gets general approval here, or if I am breeching my expected behaviour.

Some times people are lazy to use "search" function, so how about creating a thread( like a complete bookmark list) for selecting what are the FAQ in the Meta and B&H sections and what are the answer threads that other members created. It's only just an idea and I want to know what are the thoughts from other members( Especially Jet cash).

BTW this is my current bookmarked threads,

Thanks for your reply, and it isn't really off topic, as the essence of this thread is to discuss methods for members to ask questions, and to obtain answers. Your suggestion is a sensible approach, and could be useful for board posting information. The real problem is the location of the thread. If it is made into yet another stickie, then it will end up as another thread for new members toignore.

I've spent some time inside the software behind Ask a Legendary, and it is far more sophisticated than I imagined. It allows authorised members to ask questions, and to suggesdt threads in reply to questions. Therefore if provides the possibiility for cross board replies to topics in the Bitcoin Talk forum. For me, it can provide an index of threds to watch for meitable posts.

I'm going to keep it as a primary site for my own convenience, and I hope it will be useful to other members of Bitcoin Talk, including merit sources. I would welcome any suggestions about the site, and hopefully they will influence me into building an asset that is of benefit to other members and not just for me.
