Title: New Forum Category for Cybersecurity?
Post by: KingScorpio on August 11, 2018, 09:47:54 PM
With Crypto in the world Cybercrime will reach unprecedented new highs, having good skills around that will become vital

shouldnt this forum therefore have a special subforum for that topic?

regards

The difficulty is that that topic is extremely broad. Are we going to include connections to websites and their certain certificates... The main cryptographics of the bitcoin network probably fit's better in technical support, technical discussion or beginners & help (based on it's complexity).

I'm not sure a board would be populated all that much. Unless you make it a subboard of development and technical discussion.

I don't think about it...  SCAM AND ACCUSATION section has this type of information.this forum only helps to warn the members about the cybercrime. In this section, you can get the details of the scam details.

i would rather see a section where are handled all stolen/hacked/banned account, meta is getting literally flooded by these requests.

The security aspect can be likely fit into one thread peraphs and could be as well there is already something in the forum.

No, because this is Bitcointalk, not cybertalk. people in here are mostly bounty hunters and garbage posters, I don't see any experts in cybersecurity post here.

if you use this logic, of course, there is no altcoin section there because this's Bitcointalk, not Altcointalk. if that a logic used is certainly not right.

for me, there is no problem if there is indeed a special section for cybersecurity as said @OP because of many cases the accounts are hacked

I doubt, since there're not so many related threads around. Also it's questionable if such a board would be popular: when it comes to cybersecurity, everyone makes a serious face and nodding, but say something commonplace when it actually comes to on topic reasoning. In these conditions it'd be better to evolve the existing threads.

Depends on what subject you're interested in.

There must be a higher level of trust involved for creating a forum about cyberthreats. Imagine if someone on that forum saw a discussion about a threat, and they don't have any solution about it yet, do you think all of the members on that forum are trustworthy?

I don't know anything about hacking, but there are some of black hat hackers that were white before.

I've seen two projects about this kind of platform, but both are still on their ICO stage. You might want this for a start - Security bounties (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309785.0)

I really don't think we need an entire sub forum for this. It would be pretty dead most likely. Just create an informative thread or two if you really want to spread awareness about staying safe online. If it's helpful enough maybe it can be stickied somewhere or linked to in another guide.

I think the topic of cybercrime still falls into the section of Trading Discussion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0) as this section talks about the tips and tricks and dos and don'ts when it comes to transactions involving cryptocurrencies. The only problem with this section is a lot of topics are wrongly created as many members think that this is a section for "Trading" in terms of buying and selling or HODLING BTCs and Altcoins which they are incorrect (you can visit the section now and you will know what I mean) as they should have created it in the Speculation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=57.0) section which is a Childboard under Economics. If this is cleaned out and people will start using this section for what it really is, topics for cybercrime and security can be talk about mainly in this section.

I would like to have one, but there's already a scam section and we can post on that section, I saw some about that but creating a sub forum or board will benefit the community because as a whole but let's see if the admin will create one.

lots of interest for such a community, but no one can say us one where cyber security brainiacs exchange thoughts and ideas.

Yes it's a good idea! Everyone could talk about scams encountered, suspicious ICOS, security problems like password, platform hacks ...
Finally the subject is large but particularly interesting!

Does this help: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/best-forums-security-advice-experts/

But I would actually like a sub forum for this here, its all up to theymos. If this is bitcoin forum, then there should be sub forums that should cover all aspects.

Yeah, thing is no one knows/understand what that means. Worse part is those threads just stay there, they aren't even moved or thrashed. We also need a dedicated mod for that board, you can't honestly expect Cyrus to moderate 4 huge-ass boards and be an Admin alongside. That is ludicrous.
