Post by: micc on October 17, 2011, 09:13:02 PM
I just bought alot of old desktops and they all have pci slots, will this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-PCI-E-Expresscard-Card-Adapter-3-3V-5V-12V-New-/170622796586?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b9e9432a#ht_3413wt_1164) enables me to put ATI radeon pcie cards in them?

Make sure the adapter is going the right way as the naming convention is not set.  many allow PCI cards to be used in PCIe slots, not the other way around.

If you find the right ones, yes, you can use them because the bus traffic is low.

If you have old motherboards with PCI slots and want to use PCIe cards then you will need this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/PCI-32bits-PCI-E-express-16X-riser-card-adapter-/320693561785?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aaad369b9

I've bought 2 my self and can say they work quite well. Some say it lowers hash rate but I have not noticed any difference in performance from the cards.
