Title: SHA-256 ASIC NOT mining Bitcoin experience??
Post by: FuzzyBear on February 25, 2014, 10:55:07 PM
Hey all,

I am an avid Peercoin fan and activist i guess you could say, I own ASIC mining equipment and had them pointing at BTC for a while but switched to PPC quickly and made a LOT more out of mining PPC opposed to BTC.  Not only have I made more by mining PPC i genuinely believe in Peercoin with its POS / POW hybrid design for network security and energy efficiency.  Friendly bunch over at http://www.peercointalk.org and productive active community.

Just wondering if any ASIC miners out there that do NOT mine BTC?? If so which coin do you mine and why??

Second this, also a fan of PPC - Moved my ASICs onto PPC in November and pretty much mined PPC exclusively since.

Good community and the PPC/USD value is holding up well!

Plus I'm also a fan of the PoS features.. I think being able to secure the network without needing the vast amounts of hashing power the Bitcoin network is currently using should be a good thing in the future.

Also Sunny seems to be on it with good ideas for long term strategy and where Peercoin might sit in the crypto-currency world!

What's the best PPC pool and best exchange for trading PPC to BTC in your opinion?

Personally I like Fixx's pool and ecoining is where I divide my hashing power... want to support the pools other than D7 and coinotron which have large hashrates and userbases.

Exchanges I like btc-e for the volume and ease to buy... vircurex is good as well ... and Vault of Satoshi is probably the best for buying with $$ from your bank account to PPC direct.... though there are many out there now I have not had a chance to try them all.

1. Acquire ASICs

2. Develop or purchase a profitable trading bot for Cryptsy/Bter/etc

3. Mine scamcoins for 24/7 for 2 weeks straight

4. autotrade scamcoins for 2 weeks straight then sell them for bitcoin

5. Magically have 0.5BTC more than you would have otherwise

6. Rinse and repeat

What coins though?? I have seen TRC rise and fall like this... get caught on the wrong side of the trades and difficulty though and u loose more through wasted time mining and no chance of the value rising back up where you saw it.  FRC was interested if anyone combatted demerging enough to make it profitable or have actual case study examples where ASICcoin they mined for x weeks and made x profit off device x GH.. Would like to see if there are any examples of coins in the market looking strong and not just a pump and dump... my point being PPC seems the only one to break the mold in this trend.. FRC as well but not easy to mine profitably.. better mining btc and buying FRC with it.. but PPC u better mining that and selling for BTC even in the long run.. hold and trade later and u make more

The choice of coins is the secret to doing this  :P You can pick some of the completely stupid coins if you do it right and your bot actually trades well.  I like mining PPC, but I sell it in lots when the price is high not via bot trading.
