Title: [WARNING] BANKROI.IO - Too good to be true? Your thoughts?
Post by: btcltcdigger on August 14, 2018, 12:52:01 PM
So, again, I was approached by a TG user who calls himself Jack Fering (@JackFering)

He asks me for some details about the bounty management, best practices, prices, tasks, etc.

Nothin out of the ordinary. Project he wants to hire me for is bankroi.io

So i take a look. At first glance, nothing special, until i saw what they promise:

Basically, for those that can't see the image, they're offering high ROI in short amount of time.
The more you invest, the bigger the reward, and faster.

Shady as phuck! Gammy always told me: "Sonny, if it's too good to be true, it's a SCAM".

Now, I'm only saying it does seem to be one.

So i ask Jack Fering for some details:

As you can guess, there's no mention of anything about it on google. Website contains one vague refference with a link to a "beta" company registry in the UK.

Few days ago, there was a "online" help chatbox, and whenever i tried to talk to "support" i would get an automated message saying that everyone is busy, altho i was the only one in the queue (also stated by the same chat box)

They've removed the box since.

But the next red flag, they are giving 20% of total tokens to the bounty. Why is that a red flag? Well, seems to me someone is trying to attract A LOT of people to the website. And by giving away few million ETH (or claiming so) that would do the trick.

So i dug deeper:

Classic story, team of samaritan traders want to make the world richer.

As for the company info, check it yourself: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11349827

(P.S: Opening a legal company with a fake address and fake CEO in UK takes 10 mins)

https://i.imgur.com/zFkRYWc.png

Any question regarding any proof of this private sale was cut short by claiming NDA. Fair enough.

But notice that he's very eager to start. I don't usually respond well to pressure

So yeah, TL;DR, this sounds very fishy to me. Like they want to get as many people to see the website and invest, hoping for some quick returns.

What's your thought on this?

Could it be Impressio.io 2.0? Reference (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4508584.20)

Both projects held private sales without any proof.

Interesting fact is most visits per day are from Russia.

Nice catch. Seems more likely a plagarized content which raises the red flag as a legitimate project doesn't needs to copy other projects content.

CIS region has lots of "clever" and greedy people who try to scam everyone and everywhere. This project seems really scammy and obviously it is. I am sure of your knowing it and publish this evidence only for preventing other people to believe in the fairy tales (thanks for that). I'm really impressed by the arrogant and abundance of classic tricks for deception. As one person (I do not remember who) said: lie so impudent that others don't even think that it could be a lie.

PS: Well, 20 million for a bounty - OMG  ;D

THESE ARE THE SAME CROOKS BEHIND THE DEFUNCT "IMPRESSIO" (which stole all the money then shut down).

They also deleted my post from their ANN thread ... you will notice they delete all criticism from everywhere they can. STAY AWAY.

These thieves should be prosecuted. Aren't there any british folks here? Please report them to the FCA. They registered a Ltd with the companies house.

FCA don't care.
Companies House don't care.

Anyone who gives them money after reading this, deserves to lose it

FCA don't care.
Assuming authorities don't care (without checking) and resigning is a big failure of today's society. Here's FCA caring:

Impressio, BankROI, etc are all just filthy ponzi schemes. FCA is known to investigate ponzi schemes (google it). Someone please report these filthy crooks to the FCA.

Anyone who gives them money after reading this, deserves to lose it
Wrong again. Like all things, stupidity is relative. You and I are also utterly stupid at some level compared to some sophisticated phenomenon, but that doesn't mean we deserve a drastic fate because of it. I agree that blind greed is not healthy, but the answer you are proposing is a mistake ... would you also get rid of the police, justice system etc, and allow thieves to proliferate because most folks should learn to defend themselves? (rhetorical question)

You are assuming that I'm assuming they don't care about two bit crypto scams. I know they don't.
Tell me more about "big failures of today's society". I'm all ears.

The FCA investigates nothing outside its narrow remit, which doesn't include anything cryptocurrency related, except when it is used in conjunction with one of the financial mechanisms which they oversee.
They won't even register a crypto based entity in order to oversee it, because they have no mechanism to authorise crypto activity.
Yeah, Google "FCA Ponzi schemes" and you'll find out how toothless they really are.
If you really want to report BankROI to the UK authorities, then fill in an Action Fraud form online.
This will be handled or not by the City of London Police.
They assigned a Detective Constable for a couple of weeks to "investigate" the third of your links, Onecoin. Millions of pounds were being openly stolen and large conventions taking place every week to round up new victims, all over the UK.
No-one was ever arrested or charged. The FCA produced an "alert".

Strawman.

More big failures of today's society? Trump. Brexit. Illusion of privacy. Bieber.

If the police is the more appropriate body then fine, a complaint should be filed there. Nothing gets done if it's not exposed (some of the current stupid ones will get educated in the process without learning a hard lesson). There is a reason why societies didn't evolve into anarchies but all have regulating&enforcing authorities. This isn't a strawman argument.

p.s. You're right that the FCA's doesn't prosecute (they can't), but it seems they did investigate crypto related businesses and exposed ponzi's.

It's an obvious ponzi. Registering in the UK companies house can be easily done and this has been done thousands of times on other HYIP programs as well. The entire site is laid out in a way that would scream scam, as they offer "plans", which is the telltale sign of a ponzi.

No legitimate business would ever offer you tiered investment plans guaranteeing profit like this.

Don't work for them, as you may associate your reputation with a scammer and thus ruin it. On a side note, this person seems to be either the owner of this site, or a promoter of this site: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=460144;sa=showPosts. Their ANN thread is still under construction as of right now, it seems.
