Title: Dead Coins
Post by: nthere on August 14, 2018, 08:24:16 PM
This is a fun site about the crypto world and also a nice way to learn most of the basics.

https://deadcoins.com/ (https://deadcoins.com/)

Please spend some time and find out why all of those coins died.

We also got https://www.coinopsy.com/dead-coins/

There's too many dead coins already and it will be filled more very soon once the altcoin market collapses and BTC dominance keeps on increasing.

Lmao I checked the site out and browsed the first few coins on the list and they're pretty much all scams. It's ridiculous. The lesson here is to not get tempted by ICOs and to simply stick with Bitcoin if you just want cryptocurrency anyway. If you're looking to get rich quick, you're in the wrong place -- just ask the victims of these scams.

Agree 100%, stick to real deal, real technology, not promises or nice words.
Be smart, learn and invest in real things.

The lesson here is choose the right ICO to put your money in. The ICO market will die if all people have same thought with you, ICO investing is not wrong, the wrong thing is you invest in scam and shit ICO. Be a smart investor and you will earn a lots, better than just hold Bitcoin, the market doesn't have only Bitcoin.

Thats a pretty cool website.  Someone add GMP to the list?  Looking back I can't believe I fell for that one.

I should have made myself clear: what I meant was to not get tempted by quick returns promised by (most) ICOs. I acknowledge that there are legitimate projects, but statistics (https://www.investopedia.com/news/80-icos-are-scams-report/) still paint a picture wherein the odds are heavily stacked against prospective investors. Most people should bother with them. Case in point: the site OP shared.

I was talking about Bitcoin from a utility perspective. I agree about taking advantage of the diverse market if you're an investor.

Probably almost a thousand of dead coins on that list alone, and there are probably multiples more due to the dead coins that aren't famous enough to be on that list. No surprise to be honest. The cryptocurrency ecosystem is pretty much a playground for a lot of scammers. The problem? People are still feeding on them years later. With how greedy people are I really don't see those scams going away any soon.

Most probably the list can go on as OKex will de-list some coins as well and we might consider them dead as well.

Probably no volumes whatsoever or devs have no updates on those coins on the list. However, this is a never ending cycle, when one dies another one is born every minutes. ;D

Definitely. I mean, coinmarketcap alone has 1845 coins and tokens listed[1]. What more the ones that aren't. A year from now we would probably be in the 100,000+ range(if we haven't reached that yet) knowing how frequent new coins/tokens are being made.

If situation on the market doesn't change, we will see a lot of new coins on this site. Not every project (even if it has a good potential) will cope with such drop. Too bad some really worthwhile projects can be buried.

Viewed the website as well, but I think some of the altcoins here are wrongly labeled as a deadcoin because actually some of the altcoins listed are scam ICOs who didn't even distributed their tokens to the public. Yes they can be considered as a deadcoin but if no one created the said coin how can it be dead in the first place. Some of the coins here must either be removed or be separated in another section. This will be a great learning experience for everybody as some in list provide some links in BCT as proof.

it would be interesting to see what kind of ATH we are going to reach for the number of altcoins in existence :D
because like bacteria we can't see unlimited number of tokens/altcoins be created. as they increase their population, they run out of resources and start dying so their number is going to come down. not to mention that people will also learn and pay less attention to these useless ones and their death will become faster.

Omg, it is interesting to see that there are so many dead coins. So there may be thousands of crypto coins in total. Not all of them will be successful, also, some coin is born to be a scam. It is better to be careful when choosing which bounty or ICO to participate in.

When the market is facing various impacts, investors will have panic selling, which is a very bad phenomenon! But such a sell-off will also have a good place, some tokens with no real value will die in such an impact, and the coins that survive will develop better!

If that's only your purpose I think if you are joining bounties currently they won't list it until that project declares that they are done with it.

There are more dead coins, they are just on market as a project they are already dead. Many ones are also doomed.

in my opinion, many coins died because there were no demand dynamics for those particular coins. In another words, there were no business activities, the owner just developed coins and get some money via ICO. That's really a scam.
