Title: P2P market for bitcoin, an idea...
Post by: El Cabron on October 19, 2011, 12:55:04 PM
The problem I see with bitcoins is how to spend them. The only place that I know of where bitcoin has an advantage over traditional ways is SR.

I have been thinking about a way to help increase the economy of bitcoins to other things than drugs.

My idea is to use a P2P client like the way utorrent or limewire works. This will make sure that the site can never be taken down by any government.

With in the program people would be able to list items for sale or maybe even have an auction. There should be escrow like on SR and a rating system like on ebay and the SR. With the escrow scams will be limited.

Any ideas at all would be welcomed...

Sounds like a reasonable idea. What is SR?

What would attract people to this other than using ebay, etc? Maybe merchants would be happier not to pay 2-5% cc fees (or w/e it is), nor auction fees, so it could end up with slightly cheaper goods if there was enough supply.

yeah, would just need a robust open source client with good options, so to speak.

The bitcoin's only hope is to get value as a trading currency, and a p2p trading network that uses bitcoins exclusively would do the trick I think.

The btc will come into it's own when you can completely live off it, though, which may take a few years, but this is definitely a start.

After goods, I would imagine contract services would be next
