Title: The BTC patron, who is he/she?
Post by: DoctorOz on February 27, 2014, 10:44:31 AM
Hi all,

I am running  a small project in the BTC world, and would greatly appreciate your time and help.

I have drafted up a brief questionnaire that will help me (and the world) understand a little more about the world of BTC and the people who are passionately behind it.

I am happy to publicly share the results.

So if you have a spare 10-15 mins or enter into a procrastination mode,I would appreciate it if you could lcik on the link and let us know a bit about your BTC world.

Many thanks in advance

so, are you NSA or GCHQ? Oh wait, they don't need to ask ;)

I think some of the questions should have allowed selecting multiple options.

Thanks xDan for your feedback.

No, not NSA or GCHQ, just an average guy doing a bit of homework ;-)

I am sure that there will be a few more surveys along the way, and as we progress the difficulty level will advance!

Appreciate your time in filling the survey out and the effort for some feedback.

I didn't like the question about my Top 5 Websites.
Why would you ask something like that?

Someone doesn't automate their downloads of pornographic movies off newsgroups, I see.

Dear all,

Thanks to all who have had their say with the survey.  We still require a few more respondents, so it shall be open a few more days.

The better quality of data we can provide the market on BTC, the better the chance we have for BTC to grow and be accepted as a 'currency'.

I look forward to your support.

Thanks!

Your questionnaire is missing a question:

Did you ever buy drugs or any other products from SilkRoad?

Hahahahahahaha
LOL

well it does ask if you every purchased any goods or services.... up to you how you classify your above habit....

Does anyone know, are there any brothels that are open to accepting BTC as a method of payment.... that would be interesting, considering how often most of you IT freaks frequent such a location ;-)

Yes, the idea is to publish the results.  However at this point in time we have 36 respondents, waiting for a quite a few more to fill out the questionnaire.  Then more then happy to share, as that is the idea.

The more commercial information available, the more BTC becomes interesting as a new channel in the market.

Would appreciate your support in having your peers fill out the questionnaire.

Cheers

I don't think you got my point...

Bitcoin is meant to provide anonymity.
You are asking things that you can never know unless someone tells you.

Also, as far as your idiotic comments,
No I do not have a habit of purchasing goods from SilkRoad,
and I don't need to visit brothels (unlike you, who cannot get any ;) ).

I am happily married and even before that I had a VERY active and happy sex life.
And I never paid one single cent to have sex.
That is against my beliefs.

Anyways,
good luck with your research.

? It was you who asked the Q about drugs and silk road???  It seems like your asking and answering your own question?

Anyway to you point - yes BTC is about anonymity, which would immediately make it an interesting payment method for the sex industry - you may claim to not subscribe to it, but many do for many reasons. Who's to judge.

Thanks for re-assuring the forum about your sex life, not sure if that was a question at all, but like all therapy questions it's good to get things off your chest, helps you move on with life.  Happy to help the fellow man!

Now to the point, little is know about BTC consumption and to help in small ways to bring some empirical data to the table would be great. Unfortunately there is not much known about this topic and the more facts and figures available the higher the chance that such a currency can be scale-able to daily needs.   In order to move BTC from a fad to reality it needs to become mainstream as possible.  And opinions won't help the cause...

If anyone has other published data on this topic, feel free to share.  I am struggling to find anything online.  So this is my starting point...

You have a nice way of saying things.
Well educated, as I can see.

I will ask you the same question as one of the other members:

Do you work for NSA?
Or ANY other agency?

Wow, thanks XDan. This guy managed to encourage 1000 users to respond.  I'm obviously doing something wrong as to date i have 46? Or is this forum lame :-p

I'd like to at least draw 100 repsondents to have resonable faith that the results would provide some concrete directional thinking.as i said a starting point, to know how to progress further.

I will try to dig a bit deeper into the results of the survey you posted, it may help with understanding a little but better the btc person :-)

That guy doesn't seem to have much response to his later survey, either:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=445314.0

perhaps more background on the purpose of this survey (rather than just "vaguely interested guy, totally not the NSA"), and how and when you intend to publish results might encourage more responses. Maybe also append the thread title with a more specific call to action e.g. "- Survey of Bitcoin users".

(there's been plenty of user polls over the years, how does this stand out? are we gonna see some freakin' pie charts?)

Title: Re: The BTC patron, who is he/she?

unfortunately no.

I'm using this free online survey as, well its free, and I wasn't sure what the response rate would be like.  And being free, it's not so flexible.

Should this survey turn out well, will research to find a better and flexible solution.
