Title: Best place for a UK resident to buy Bitcoins? Post by: Boris-The-Blade on February 27, 2014, 04:27:47 PM So i was hoping for a little guidance, I have a spare £10k lying around (If there is such a thing) and would like to put it into Bitcoins.
My problem is I'm not to sure of the best place to buy Bitcoins from is? I obviously know to stay away from Mt-Gox. Any ideas and pointers would be much appreciated, I want to get my coins at the best possible market rate. Where should i go? Which is the best/fastest/safest etc? Post by: grifferz on February 27, 2014, 04:32:51 PM With that kind of money to invest I would send it to an exchange in a couple of chunks and buy over a period of days. It will cost you ~£8 each time to do a SEPA deposit in EUR but you'll get a better rate than localbitcoins.com. Do check localbitcoins.com first though just to check.
Exchanges that are generally thought to be okay: http://kraken.com http://bitstamp.net http://bitcoin.de http://bitcoin-central.net I've had SEPA deposits show up in <24h on kraken and 1-3 days on bitstamp. I suggest doing it in chunks both to reduce risk (exchange can shut down with your money on it like MtGox did) and so as not to skew the market too much by dumping £10k on it all at once. Every time you buy them, withdraw them to your local wallet; don't treat exchange like a bank, again for MtGox reasons. Some time will be needed. :)
