I bought bitcoin when it was around $14,500 in January and I am still holding because I am not discouraged.  I have great hope that bitcoin is going to increase in price and volume in some years to come. 

That is the spirit mate, keep holding it tight until it gives you a profit.

We are on the same boat buddy! My holdings is over 80% loss if converted to fiat. I know crypto currency market will rise again so i keep my coin in my wallet. I just leave it at the exchange. I plan to leave there for a year. Maybe its the right decision i take with my capital.

Thank you for the encouraging words and I really believe that in two to three years to come we would get more profits than those that buy in 2014, bearish market and sold last December.  I am seriously hopeful that we would make money if we can hold and be patience!

It might be a right move of holding your cryptocurrency investments, but it definitely is NOT a right move on leaving them on an exchange, especially for a year. Could possibly be the worst decision you're going to make.

Amazing, you are the one who is really having the trust over the crypto currency and specifically bitcoin itself. I like your confidence of holding the bitcoin after being in loss by -40% or around. In this market we can see more dumpsters than holders and more panic sellers than holder so this is why you are very much heroic in terms of bets holder.

Well preferably that's what i would do as well but the amount you've invested at that price should be something that you can let go for a long time. The problem with those that got rekt is that they we're expecting quick and sustained profits, which, as we all know, is not how crypto works.

This is only smart move you can do now, if you decide to sell you will have nothing then big loss. If you invest only some extra money, and amount that you can afford to lose it is possible that one day you will see some profit from your investment. Problem is that many people invest money they need for daily life, they take bank loans or even sold houses to invest - for them holding is not smart option.

I do not know is this person still hold his BTC, but his target is 100 000$/BTC - I am sure to him and his family is not easy to watch today price, even he bought at this level or lower, or they are just enjoy life and waiting 2020 :)

There is many other way around making good money with cryptocurrency.  But the sure and tested way to making good money in the long run is to hold your coin till maturity so that you can get deserving value for your coin.  Holding is still the best strategy in cryptocurrency trading!

Tbh, only the newbies who can't understand how this market works are the ones getting discouraged by such low prices. If anything this is the pefect time to increase your holdings and buy cheap coins, especially if you're planning to hodl for the long-term, chances are that the btc price will go past its last ATH in the next few of years.

There are better times to buy than others. That's why the whales manipulate the market and force inexperienced traders to panic sell, and they buy at the bottom, and sell at the top.

You arent the only one and even those people who bought on 19k usd supposed to be holding or majority of them do already panic sell. Even myself do able to buy on 10k price but still im not really much affected on when the price would break even since i dont still need too much btc to spend on or actively be converted to fiat. Im still holding those coins in my hardware wallet though and for those people who do the same then just keep still and be patience coz sometimes temptations to sell on panic is there.

For every heavy fall time is needed to get back up. And it will get - back up. We all have to work together to speed up Bitcoins recovery. All of us should try to keep the coin as long as we can, as that will help to stabilize the market. It will come back with new wave.

I do not "hold" , that is the reason why bitcoin price is not go up, I purchase and earn bitcoins, use it like a money itself. If you use bitcoin like its commodity than you will not utilize it at its fullest. However comparatively speaking if you are talking about "selling" your coins because of panic, than yes I think selling is worse than keeping your coins.

You should wait for a bit and see how it goes, I know it has been long time since last time bitcoin went up but what do you make from selling at this point on the dip when you can just wait and sell when it goes back up eventually. Unless you need the money for something, aside from that there is no reason to sell right now.

I also hope that the market will improve soon, so that we can all recover losses, but relying solely on faith can not make the encryption market recover quickly!

Well, thank you to hear that both of you that I'm not alone on keep holding. Me too, I also invested in bitcoin on the month of January at this current year but I didn't expect that it will be dropped too much until now bitcoin has not recovered yet at the price when I was bought bitcoin. So, I don't have a choice to keep holding on it in my wallet, and I don't want to cut my losses because as of now I don't need money maybe I can be used it if I have an urgent needs.

That is great because you will be receiving nice profits if you do hold it until the time when it crosses those big time values. I know its hard for you but you courage tells everything to us and you must keep up the holding until bitcoin reaches 20K USD or above rates. Now no one can say that its impossible to reach those prices because we already saw the events of 2017 december and hence you should keep in mind there is nothing hard to reach those values. If you are a Hodler then it’s cool for you but in my opinion you have lost many opportunities since then till now as I am taking it on behalf of a trader. But hodling is the best approach when you don’t want to take any more risk. Wish you best. I hope this bearish phase we face will end somewhere in 2019. As we know history repeats itself and we have saw it many time in crypto that hodlers are the winners in the end. They get the fruit for their patience and dedication.

I agree with you. Such the persevered HODLERS who bought bitcoins for a high price and still didn't sell them on the crypto exchange markets help Bitcoin to stay on the current levels. If these owners will tired to wait for recovering markets, they will sell their coins and the BTC price will go down deeper. Eventually, the "whales" want to force the "hamsters" to sell them Bitcoin for a cheap price and loose their wealth. Total respect to such HODLERS!

Strong mentality indeed. People should do the same thing given that the loss of profit might be partial especially if you haven't sell early. The amount of investment is still the same and it is just the value which is changing. Once recovery takes place despite of lack of assurance when, things will again be turned and profit will surely be earned by those who are patient.

I also bought some bitcoin that time and I still holding on it. Its true that we should not be discourage because bitcoin will rise again. For sure bitcoin is just preparing for a big pump and we should be ready for that. So many negative news about bitcoin but we should not believe on that, focus on bitcoin technology and you will be amazed.

Of course bitcoin right now is always consolidating and prepping for a big run. But we have to understand that investors are very reluctant to go and invest right now. So if we buy bitcoin above $10K then we can't do anything but to hold for a long time and wait till it recovered. The question is when will that happen? No one knows for certain. You are right and I agree with you completely but a quite large part of investors cannot afford themselves to hold bitcoin very long time because of various reasons. I also consider that investors should not sell their bitcoins at least while bitcoin is beneath 10000$ because it is obviously for me that bitcoin will probably achieve 10000$ in this year so selling bitcoin lower 10000$ is equally loosing money. I consider that every investor must be patient to achieve desired aims so I am going to continue holding my bitcoins and ethereums.

I also loss so much money in altcoin because alot of altcoin dumped hard, but i believe the price will going up later higher than price that i bought it. Crypto is not dead but this bearish season just temporary and will end later. Patient to holding will give big reward later.

You have better faith than I do, already cut loss because my analyze show that this situation will continue until end of the year. I see crypto is like gold, they have similar pattern and if they have the same moving and I keep hold my asset, stuck in long term period will be mine. it is true that we do not need to be discouraged by the very low price of bitcoin like this, because I also believe that the price of bitcoin will return above the peak price in 2017 yesterday.

That is really a bad thing for you, but don't worry! Everything will goes back to its price. Just wait and hold on because I know that the result of ETF will become successful and it is a positive views for all of us. I will store bitcoin today specially if I recieved the payments of the bounties I have joined.

For now markets are on the rise, but the value is not showing the strength that I would have loved to see. Breaking the $6800 resistance though would be a good one to look forward to which for now is not something I see the possibility of since it is behaving as a very strong resistance. Until I see a formation of a higher high and higher low before one can simply say the market is set for an upward movement, at least a temporary one since we are still in a downtrend anyway.

Moreover, we go from here though, time will tell and the best thing is to just try to see how the market is going to end up developing rather than trying to rush in so fast. Experience thought me that anyway as a trader. The thing with the market is that there is a lot of uncertainty, and it is best to keep that at the back of one's mind if trading this market at this point since it is a lot of risk.

You're right, as a long term hodler and also have btc that I bought when the value is in peak price I am not discourage even the current price is not what I expected it to be. You need to forget about crypto currency for a while. I think that you can come here in a year or two and see what will happen.

It is usually the way to go most of the time, to at least get the best of the market in the long run. I think HODLing for now is by far the best option. The market and BTC value is expected to rise by the end of the year and there's no point in losing faith now. Things are banned to get better.

That's right don't just get discouraged by the trend of the market today everything will going back to normal and what we are experiencing is just a normal flow of the market. Just HODL if you feel like you lost more than of your investments in your portfolio. Just relax and be patience and stop looking always the market of how it always goes down it will feel you more stressed and might triggered you to panic selling.

I do agree with your decision on not to sell despite of the loss due to the down trend this year. It won't be a complete loss if you won't choose to let go already because it is just the market value of Bitcoin which is gowing down not the amount of your holdings or investment perhaps. Ofcouse, once recovery happen, profit will again be earned. And given that dumps are temporary, it is I think an enough reason to hold.

Yes, you should feel calm, relax and stay positive though it takes time for bitcoin price to recovers. This is what usually others say especially to those people who started here in the crypto world when bitcoin was created. They had already experienced this kind of situation wherein the BTC reaches $1000 then it suddenly drops to $300 and recovers more than two years. And now what? BTC reach its ATH last December 2017 then back to around $6400 up to date. So there is still a big possibility that after two years, BTC price will be back to its ATH again so better calm down and buy more for a better profit in the years to come.

I'm not easily discouraged, so I'm ready to hodl however long it might take because I have other sources of income, so I know hodling isn't good for everyone, but as soon as you find an alternative source of income, you will stay calm and relaxed like a boa that has just had its dinner  8)

Thumbs up to mate. The current btc price is almost just a half of it now and if you sell it,  what a big loss for you.  I know it's a long wait for you then, even we don't have assurance of bringing back into such price or more but still you can manage to hold it.

I know BTC has lost its price since last years' ATH, but it isn't the reason to get discouraged because first you have to look into the perspective and check the BTC historical movements. I know there are risks; I know BTC is volatile, I know that; but that doesn't mean it is dead, does it? And keep in mind the blockchain which is rapidly expanding: now you can see why you should keep holding instead of getting discouraged! 8)

You were too high. And it takes a lot of time for you to make a profit. In 2018 we can not see a bitcoin price higher than 8000$ in the current market. At least we need to wait until the middle or late 2019. To the market can return to the game

I was just thinking if there's someone who still holds bitcoin when they bought it at the price of 20k? $14.5k was near and I admire those people who still hold and believe to bitcoin despite the huge loss of their capital valued to dollars, it will increase in due time but it will take its time to recover, it might be till the end of the year or the next we can't pin the exact outcome for the price but you can still accumulate bitcoin or other altcoins while it is cheap to cover your profits and losses when the price increases, hodl the valuable ones, don't take chance to hold trash coins.

yes that's good, but if you have free money again, you can buy it again at the price of 6000 so that when you reach the price of 14000 you have already benefited from this second purchase, and also double the profit when the price exceeds 14500 $.

Yup,It's the only option that everyone has got,if we have to sell our stakes in profit.The other thing that we can do is that we can sell some of the stakes and the other hand we can buy some small coins that will some jump to certain extent in order to balance our loss. This way we can get into the green from red.

You should manage your emotions, believe that it will bounce back and it will bring more profits, you have choices if you will sell it now, you can loss your investment and try to buy back if you see more downfall or stay calm and hold waiting for another rise up then sell it with good gains, this market annoyed people who can't control their emotions, they will sell while the downfall still ongoing trying to avoid big loses but didn't realize that they just been played by experience holders and they are attracting them to follow the trend and loses their money.

You are right it I good to keep our bitcoin in wallet a we have a lot of wallet which can keep our bitcoin saved so no worries just try to keep them hold tight and never sell at panic,, if people say you negative just keep it in your mind than you know the nature of bitcoin, if today price is down o later on it will be high, so as you said I think after high acceptance price of bitcoin will be higher very soon.

Indeed it will rise again in the future, but it will take longer time to reach the same price as he bought it. The current market condition does not show a single sign that it will rise significantly till the end of this year. So hoping to make a profit from buying it $14,500 wont happen in the near future as I think it wont even rise more than $10 by the end of the year. I bought btc few months ago when it was around $8,000, at that time I thought it was the lowest price for 2018 but I was wrong. Nothing I can do to minimize loses except holding it and use some of it to trade.

You cant do anything right now because the market price is still down to $6k dollars and you should only hold your coins and wait for the value in the market to pump up again before selling your coins to gain profit.

Better not to look inside the market if you are holding coins from that value, keep seeing the downfall might bring wrong decision and regrets if you failed making it in the right timing, some of those who's been trapped already tried shorting but most of them failed, so what is best if you don't want to lose your money, stay calm and keep holding.

It might take too long for now to recover however market is indeed unpredictable so we'll never know where this will take us. Last year's speculation was just around $10k yet it reached $20k and it's beyond from what we think. So yeah these faith and hopes are the ones that keep us running that these tough time will be over and the price will skyrocket sooner.

Sell when you see it is almost at its limit of going high then buy at dips just like this.

Yes, and that's the best way to keep our own token safe. Not to trade when the price is down. Still holding and not discouraged ourselves to do something when it's not good to our own. Bitcoin have more opportunity and more chance to wake up and have a pretty good price.

You lost already a big amount sir! I admire you because of your patience level. Nowadays, we can't usually see some people with patience like, it is so rare today like now that prices of cryptocurrencies are almost dump and most traders are being discouraged in their selves. Indeed if you sold your bitcoin with the current price then you will lost more than 50% from your initial investment and hold is good to avoid loss but i think currently very difficult to find someone just like you because majority people usually will being panic and sold their bitcoin when the price dropped and they do not dare hold their bitcoin for more than 1 month

You're right, friend. Bitcoin currency will definitely experience a price increase in the future. As usual, there's often a decline (even a prolonged period) rather than an increase (which can still be counted on our fingers). Even so, we don't need to despair because although increases are rare sometimes bitcoin prices increase significantly.

Bitcoin make sudden changes all the time and I don't think that a longterm bearish outlook is honestly realistic. I think that Bitcoin, because of its usability and because of institutional interest and because people are no longer seeming to care as much about hacking because like we said, it isn't the fault of the coin that some coins are lost in hacking incidents. Similar why not we expect prices to again touch that $20k in coming months ? I agree it may take more time to recover and then to touch but it will surely do. Imo holding is the safest way to make money because you dont have to exert any effort. When you are trading you are being pushed side to side by the whales.
