Very bad news for BTC holders. BTC price is not moving upwards in August 2018. Looks like the rest of the days of August will be in downtrends for BTC price chart. The red is dominating green for all altcoins. Looks like another panic month for longtime holders.

Why is it considered as bad news? And its not downtrend either. What we are seeing is bitcoin trading at a sideways meaning there's no clear direction as to where the price is going to be. Anyways, if you are interested go to this thread:

Some manipulation is going on and it says the price spike to $6900 but its just artificial.

It's doesn't matter bro if there's no up trend on this month 'cause for sure on this upcoming month wherein "BER MONTHS"  it will gradually increase again like what happened before  ,so much better to accumulate now and be ready to jump or to ride with it because there will be a sudden rise again for sure.

I do not agree with that, Bitcoin price is fluctuates, look to the price today, it goes from 6400$ to 6900$ in just couple hours, so anything could happen, and i am not so sure that we end this month in worst worse than at this time

Interesting that you did post such things just before Bitcoin did a jump from 6450$ to 6850$. Do you know something we don't? Or was it lucky timing?
However, Bitcoin didn't have a great August and also these ETF bad stories one after another just help the bears. But last year too, the best things happened after the first snow of the winter, didn't they?

altcoins have been getting dumped for a long time and will continue being dumped for a couple of more months but that has nothing to do with bitcoin. they sometimes put some pressure on bitcoin price but it is nothing that big bitcoin market  can not handle.

No rise but even no fall that can be an important thing now the prices were much stable and it can be a reason for the start of bull run soon but having stable prices are not bad news but even the prices were not stable yet. ::)

Just as this was posted the price went up like 10%. This is bitcoin, sometimes it stays the same sometimes it goes up or down.
We should already be getting used to the volatility but also the stable-ish ways of bitcoin sometimes. Yeah sometimes it goes up huge or goes down huge but we had like couple of years at around 200-400 dollar range, YEARS , so one month with no real movement is not a huge deal for anyone who knows what bitcoin does or does not.

If you really want some wacky chaning quickly all the time type of investment, just invest on some casino as the casino bankroll (couple bitcoin casino websites allows you to be house), and watch as some people lose millions and some win millions.

That's your perception if that is a bad news, as a holder if the price falls that's an opportunity to add and fill my bag. But you are looking to it as something negative. If you don't do something while we are at that not so good price then you'll keep on thinking that these dips are very negative. Good or bad is just a matter of perception. If you are looking for an opportunity to sell your stash of bitcoins it could be a very bad news. But why would it be a bad news for BTC holders, as you put it? Holders are holders, they just hold their bitcoins. I don't get you logic. I don't see why this would be so bad news. Also, I don't know where this speculation came from that the price will rise in August, such things can't be predicted for sure. Besides, this August hasn't brought us anything special regarding the price, not in good or in bad sense.
And those who have decided to hold Bitcoin on long term they will continue to do so and they are very well aware that Bitcoin is the most profitable on long term.

It’s not bad news, we haven’t lost anything if we don’t sell anything. Besides it’s very shirt termish to look at the price in such a short amount of time & decide anything.

If you back last 2 weeks ago this month the price of the bitcoin pump but unfortunately the price of the bitcoin down again and now the price is more than 6000 dollars but it's not a bad news for me why because we have a chance to buy more bitcoin instead of panic selling.

Every down of the bitcoin they have good news. Not only because of the bitcoin price is that good news they have benefits of dumping the value also of the bitcoin.

We've actually managed to go past the resistance level (6500), if the price holds around the current prices (6646 at the moment of this post), then we could actually test 7k at the end of the month.

If the prices goes down again under 6500, I believe the 6k floor should hold pretty well before the next rally starts. But,to be honest, we're in the accumulation phase, which I call the "boring" phase, so we shouldn't expect too much and just let the market do its own thing.

I do not know why you expected any different, people are still in a state of panic, every time the price of bitcoin goes down people get really worried about a possible crash but at this moment with the price as low as it is right now it is almost impossible that we are going to see another crash that soon.

August started with $7500. So even Bitcoin at any chance go beyond $7000 in August it will still be a negative month.

What's the bad news in it if it's just staying the same in almost an entire months? Some would last almost a year so you should be lucky enough to witnessed the changes of Bitcoin per few months or weeks.

And no, it will not create a panic for long time holders. They won't be called long time holders in the first place if they did some panic on the way. They withstand lots of negative speculations already that's why they able to kept up their hold coins until now. Make sense.

Long term holders would not panic in these situations.

In fact, it's an excellent point for accumulation right now with prices down so much. We've seen the $6k support hold up relatively well, and even though I don't think that it's going to be the bottom of this bear market, it's going to be very close to the bottom from this point onwards until the recovery comes in.

It's almost impossible for bitcoin to fall under $3-4k, simply because of the huge buying pressure at those levels.

Besides, these price movements are expected in a bear market. It's not anything out of the ordinary. The market sentiment is still bearish, obviously, and bullish prospects aren't really in the question right now. And that too, is completely expected.

Even Bitcoin price is not moving up but at least we are stable at base line of $6,000 because if the price will fall below of that bottom line then for sure expect many will leave this investment because their confident level to continue to buy and hold will reduce. I see no panic for now because after ETF rejection we can see the Bitcoin price keep moving up slowly meaning the people don't care anymore about this latest event.

I don't think it's the long time holders that are in panic though but those who recently bought in that is expecting a quick profit but then it is not what they expected because the price just keep going down. There may be times when the price goes up but then it would go down again. If you check the price now, it is going up and if it continues to go up after a few days or even a few hours, it would go down again which is bad for those who wanted big profits investor but for traders it would be like a paradise if you were able to trade it profitably.

But old trading wisdom aside, $3K is obviously an important S/R level. And come to think of it, there's a long term log trend in the $3-4K area for the next few months. Good reasons for a bottom in that area.

To bitcoin holders, especially those holding for the long-term, the drop in August and not seeing a significant increase is far from being "bad news", if anything it has been a great month because of the accumulation period. It could be a negative month, yes, but for some people it was a positive month (not in terms of prices, obviously) because it gave them the opportunity to buy cheap.

None is sure about what would the exact price in the next hour. When we had a massive spike in December 2017, everyone expected 2018 would be another year of a marvelous spike relating to the past growth trend. Fluctuations are crypto's nature and its unpredictable. When one pitches into trading, he/she has to have more confidence and patience. I understand its painful when you are in need of money but need to. Today we had a bit spike and hope to have a come back.

But you're right for the most part. Market sentiment remains quite bearish right now, and even if there was a rally, it wouldn't last very long before the correction brings prices down to previous levels. A lot of people actually thought that August was going to be the month when prices will start recovering, because of the ETF. But to me, the ETF was never going to get approved in the short term anyways, and even if it was, it would most likely only cause temporary FOMO within the market, and no major trend reversals.

It's not necessarily a bad month. The $6k support still held up. I'm probably not as positive as some others. Even though I think that a short term rally is possible, the recovery is probably not going to happen until next year after prices bottom, which we may not have even seen yet. It's not something that is just this month.

Why should we panic, the price is moving forward and backward,the swing hasn't been too bad, so I guess BTC still in a good shape, it's a bit  disappointing that the price hasn't able to go up, but the market situation is not too good and the etf result hasn't been in our favor, so just need to be more patience about the situation

The price of bitcoin is already stable relative to the altcoin, because we can see that bitcoin is slowly rising, while the altcoin is still falling!

I closed half my long and ended up getting stopped out on the rest with yesterday's dumps. I'm back to waiting mode.

I like the look of this 4-hour candle. If it closes this way, that's a bullish engulfing right off the prior highs. I'd like to see this level hold and to form a bull flag/pennant before getting too bullish again.

I don't think so, at this time bitcoin prices have started to rise even a little and for some people have been able to get profit from the bitcoin they buy when bitcoin prices are very low, so if we can see and use opportunities well then we will still be able to get profit

The time he created this thread was August 21 when bitcoin reversed to $6350, predicted to be pessimistic at the time. Now the bitcoin price has risen compared to that time $700 and many also make some profit.

As it has been mentioned as long term holders by OP,there is nothing bad news for them as they actually don't bother short term fluctuations.It would be bad news only for day traders who would find it difficult to make profit as price fluctuations were their main source to make profit.

Well at the end of the day the day traders would not really mind because in my opinion they are aware that the market is in a bearish movement right now and many of them are not really engaging that much with a day trade with bitcoin, Maybe there are some traders that will make a trade, And that traders are a hopeful ones that think the fluctuation would surely move their way, I really think day traders would not be bother by it at all.

Bitcoin did not increase in August, it was down a lot compared to the beginning of the month. Who said a slight increase this month is not accurate, it only slightly recovered.

I wouldn't be disappointed at the current price, I just checked last year price and it seems we are just above $4000, so year-to-year we are in a positive growth. That's the problem we always wanted to maximum our profits, but we should understand that there's a lot of factors affecting the price.

@exstasie - yeah I'm also looking at around that price ($7200-$7300), but it all good, and I'm happy with the recent movement. This is just a shallow retrace for me, so its still a good indication that we can make a break out run around $7200-$7300. Let's see how it goes.

It will not only be the month of August, it will be all year, imagine what will happen if on September 30 the SEC disapproves the ETF? Answer: The price will drop a lot and will recover very slow in the coming months and we will have many threads with themes like: "bitcoin is dying"; "bitcoin will fall to $1000." Is that the very bad news? its not really a bad new if the price of bitcoin isn't moving forward for the month of August. We just have to move on and look forward that this September is going to be another month that's full of hope. There will be downtrends but its not going to stay for long.

I think the price of bitcoin after the bitcoin ETF decline the price really drops but in few days the price is increasing back again and I think we will experience pump and dump these coming months because of Bitcoin ETFs.

The bitcoin ETF approval did not happen in August, let us be hopseful it will happen in September, market is already showing some progress even without the ETFs, things will look far prettier when the Security and exchange Commision SEC of the US give a positive go for the bitcoin ETF

I don't think so, the price of bitcoin at the end of August was slowly rising. Actually, I was so surprised when the SEC continued to reject ETF proposals for the umpteenth time that indicated that bitcoin prices would continue to weaken, but what happened was that bitcoin prices slowly rose from the lowest prices in the past. This shows that bitcoin prices are difficult to predict and do not depend on one news that is considered to make market recover.

It's not always in a downtrends for the whole August as we can see that the price manage to slowly climb up but due to some circumstances it goes down more often than going up. Just be patience, maybe this month will be a good for us.

Well, it is normal to be pessimistic in a bear market and truly virtually most people in the space were pessimistic with the way the market was headed initially. So far so good though, we hope this would be a good level of growth that a lot of us have been anticipating for and not just some other quick way of deceiving those who are too optimistic and then we see the bears back in action over again and this time shedding off more weak hands in the process.

It may have risen but throughout it was really nothing much to write home about in terms of any serious increase. For now, all we can see is bitcoin trying to make a statement and though we were above $6000 for a while now, it still shows some solid strength. However, we all know how this market is like and the need to still be very careful and vigilant, knowing the bears may still be somewhere around and ready to devour anyone in a bull trap if possible.

Now only the bitcoin price started to recover, hope it will continue for upcoming days. But it will recover slowly and the price will increase. So we cannot expect high growth or bull run in this year. Bull run will happen but not immediately or this month. don't take it too seriously with news that is not necessarily true, indeed the price in the previous month there was no increase, but I think for the end of the year there must be an increase even though this is only my prediction but I remain optimistic because I see the green price market continues to dominate maybe it's time will bullrun happen

Yes, in August there was no increase but it did not rule out the possibility for the next month that prices would continue because the market fluctuated, the increase or change would always be there and now the price had dominated the green.

Yeah I've heard those bad speculations and they are pulling the price of bitcoin by saying that it will go down to $3,000.

But as they keep on telling those predictions, the price went up. If the pessimism will stay to those people, I also see that they are going to change of being optimistic.

Yeah I do agree that the price spikes higher value but suddenly goes down in the next few week in August. This showed more panic seller still grab small price increase to take their profit earnings. But in some other aspects of price development I still hope that in the Month of September people would realize the importance of holding, because if most of us do that we will reach the much greater price this Month.

End quarter might be the turning point, it will take some time but trusting the chain would bring good benefits for those who can wait and hold, buy more while the rise is slowly showing up then sell after you are satisfied with your profits.

Why don't you see things in the positive ways ? Although Bitcoin did not increase much in August but at the same time it did not fall much either. This mean it has developed a strong support at 6800K and it is not crossing 7200$ as of today. The more it stays on the particular price and do not fall, it automatically develop base on that price with next move to move further up.

On the time you have posted this one I can possibly say the same thing yet the bear market do runs already on 4th quarter of this year but actually it did able to break out the 7k barrier which is good and much better compared to the 6k range stability for how many months.I do love to see on whats currently happening on the market even the price is low but it do still manage on gradual increase which is really good.

The month of August by this year has got marked to be the worst for bitcoin as well altcoins. Going through the chart found that majority of the altcoins have experienced the lowest price by month. This is completely unexpected and further on September has been showing good signs of a green indication on the market which needs to continue making the network stronger.

I think it's better slowly but surely now bitcoin has begun to rise this month and hopefully earlier this month the bicoint rises day by day and leaves the bear market.

Of course this is a sad year, when many expectations that the price will reach $ 10,000 in August, precisely August recorded the lowest price of $ 5900, but I'm happy because today the price has reached $ 7200.

The market has been positively moving early this month and by the end of August. People should learn that if the market doesn't work for this month then expect that the next months will be something good. And now that we are on the "ber" months, this has been the expected rise for this season.

Yes  for last couple of months the bitcoin price is trading too much stable, in fact bitcoin has got a very good support at 6000$ and the investors are not letting the price to dump below 6000$, I hope that after crossing 8000$ level bitcoin price will then continue to increasing and hopefully before ending 2018 bitcoin price will reach to its highest price again.

August is over, but it should move a little tomorrow.

2018 is a very sad year for all bitcoin users, even a few months there are a lot of price increases and decreases. As we all know, the decline is so rapid here that many experience losses, I think August and September will still be the same as that.

Too many people here let their emotions get the best out of themselves and missed the opportunities to make short term trades. To get back to what you wrote, it is indeed obvious that it was possible to make money in August, price went around $6000 at some point and gained almost 20% if you consider the price on August 31.
Too many have unrealistic expectations, that's why we read a lot of negative posts around here. It's only your own fault if you bought at the worst time, by that I mean that usually when everyone is getting excited and the price is going up like crazy, it's time to sell, not to buy... this has proved to be a winning strategy a hundred of times before.

Of a truth bitcoin has not making any significant price movement this August but we are expecting another bullish trend this September because of issues around ETF. Bitcoin was just moving in range through out the month.

Bitcoin prices fell in August and only showed signs of recovery at the end of the month. I also think bitcoin will increase in September, we will see a strong month of growth this year.

The momentum is not that great yet but like you said, all we can do is to wait and see how the market is going to fair in coming days. There is a huge uncertainty even in the bitcoin market presently and I believe it would be a bit hard to see any serious participation in the market unless we are able to go past $8k. The crypto bulls look like they are around the corner though, looking at the ways the altcoin market has been acting lately, but like you said, patience is all that is needed right now.

It is normal to see such movements as this in a bear trend and most of the time when there is a huge uncertainty in the market. I know a lot of people have been quite optimistic and of the mindset that the value would keep increasing or the bulls are back in the market. I have still not seen an impressive volume as far as I am concerned, and as long as we are still below $8k, nothing is guaranteed. September has just started, so I guess we wait to see how it goes.

People are irrational, they want that bitcoin goes up in value 1000% and if that doesn't happen then that means that bitcoin is a failure, I know it doesn't make sense but that is just a way that people think so for many the month of August was a waste of time.

Yeah, I've been accused of that in my small circles, who know I simply don't trade beyond my need to pay bills and/or collect funding for some other venture. Whatever Bitcoin I don't set aside for spending and using, I simply hold, so yes, I've missed out on multiple opportunities to sell high buy low... but I'm comfortable with that.

It's always easier to look back on how markets performed, but trading for me is all about setting objectives and having the discipline to stick to them. So if stops keep making people lose money, they just have to stick to it if that's the strategy and decisions they arrived at after research.

There has been at the end of August. We had a good spike and this really supported and still supports value move positive.

There is actually a rise but that just don't enough to fight the downtrend as bitcoin remains in the 7,000$ mark until today. It's not a big deal for me whether bitcoin has risen up last month or even this month because i can still feel that bitcoin is not yet ready to get out from the trend where it got stuck.

Well the price of bitcoin is on green at the end of august, it reached around $7k for now and i'm not sure though it will go down or will go up for 4 months left in 2018. I guess this year is really not a year for bitcoin, i think it's better to hold your bitcoins until next year 2018 and that is what i am doing now and the price is start going up right now.

Most of the people today are still having a hard time and that is the reason why they are not investing but the best thing to do as of now is to invest while the market price is still low.

Price of the bitcoin in the month of august increase but it will be decreased again. But in this month of september the price decrease more because from 7k dollars to 6k dollars plus. But I still have hope before end of this month it will pump again and next coming months.
