Title: Greetings!
Post by: Zealous Zero on March 01, 2014, 05:21:03 PM
tl;dr Hi, I like Bitcoin.

Greetings good fellows, my nickname is Zealous Zero (ZZ for short).

I'm very excited about Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency that came out of the blue. I first heard about it a few years back when the faucets were giving around 0,1 BTC.
I'm glad to see that Bitcoin survived. It seems that it's worth quite a bit now (around $568, according to bitcoincharts.com) and there's even a bunch of new coins!

This proves how brilliant an invention it is and I do hope we will leave the current monetary systems in favor of digital currency.

Anyway, thanks for reading and have a good day.

Welcome to the forum. Yes the days of a faucet dispensing 0.1 BTC an hour are long gone, but with the value increase there's still loads of opportunities to obtain valuable cryptocurrencies.

Hello man :) Yes. Bitcoin is not yet dead and never will be :) (never say never, maybe one day... in 2129)
From days when faucets were giving 0.1 BTC a lot things has changed. :)

But still -- Btc is the best! :)

Regards.

Who knows, maybe next year we wonder how the faucets could give as much as they give now ^^

Welcome!

I remember when 1 BTC was worth £4. I wish I hadn't resold the ones I bought then... But life goes on ;)

Yes I do suggest a separate child board for newbies to say hello, welcome etc. Maybe moderators can also impose some rules there to prevent scams.

If you're talking about a new child board under the current "Beginners & Help" section, I think it is something that can be considered and discussed.

Currently the size of this "Beginners & Help" section is getting big. Now it has over 453K posts but there's no child board inside it.

Thank you all for your replies.

I looked for a specific "Newcomer Greetings" section but saw so many separate threads for it that I assumed it was the usual procedure. As suggested earlier, it is probably best to make a dedicated sub-thread for this kind of things.

Anyway, from the alt-coins I've seen I found Primecoins to be one of the real improvements to Bitcoin by making the mining useful and inheriting a lot of new technologies and I saw that Auroracoin is an attempt to use cryptocurrencies to help an entire country. Clearly the true value of Bitcoin is no longer the estimated market price. It's the idea in itself.

I don't think we must abandon our current currencies, just that there is much to be gained from using cryptocurrencies. If banks used them for exchanges, it would be easier to make international exchanges (just exchange an address). I also see them as a good way to store money (through cold storage), which is unaffected by banks going bankrupt.
